1308690 tn?1273696411 Seems like you covered all the medical and over the counter prescriptions. I had a nasty case of BV and the Dr gave me Macrobid and it cleared it up. Thats by prescrirtion only . As for the yeast infection they have a pill called Flagyl its extermely potent and will kill the yeast infection. The monostat in my opinion don't help too much. Also my Dr told me its not recommended to have sex during BV and yeast infection .

Avatar m tn I think that I may have a bacterial or yeast infection. I took 2 over the counter vaginial screening kits and i also i feel a bit discomfort and my discharge is maybe a pale white..sort of watery and thick..It stated I had a bacterial infection. I believe I had it for some time now but never went to the doctor..but im planning on going soon as possible. I Just want to know what can I do to help with the discomfort or even to clear up in the meantime? I dont really smell anything..
Avatar f tn Metronidazole and clindamycin are shown to be effective against anaerobic microorganisms, though tinidazole was the most recently approved antimicrobial agent for BV treatment, and is considered an alternative antimicrobial agent, particularly whenever metronidazole and clindamycin are unavailable or not tolerated. Being a second generation nitroimidazole with a longer half-life than metronidazole, it requires lower dosages, to be taken less frequently than metronidazole.
20814570 tn?1520098212 I have had this red tinge to the center of my nose for as long as I can remember. Wondering what it is and if I can get rid of it somehow. I don't think I had it when I was very young. 1-5 years old. Though I could be wrong. Anybody have any ideas? I can post pictures. It's not too noticeable but I notice it every day.
Avatar f tn s true that some meds will enter your bloodstream through the vaginal skin and become a systemic antibiotic. (The clindamycin gel could do just that; ask your doc.) I was just surprised you were so frightened of metronidazole because I've taken it and have never had a side effect. Anyway, the new approach must be good or the doctor wouldn't have provided it.. Probably overall, the advice is that you should try to get over your fear of medication.
Avatar f tn m using the clindamycin lotion twice daily, but progress has sort of plateaued. The clindamycin will get it to the point where it forms some new skin over the top but then starts to crack and peel again, and I'm back to square one. I've tried every lip balm, at the doctor's suggestion I tried a week of nothing but Vaseline, I've tried days of absolutely nothing, but it just stays every time.
Avatar f tn The reason that the other poster could have been cured by cipro is that she may have had a Mycoplasma and it may have been sensitive to ciprofloxacin. But the standard treatment for bv is either metronidazole or Clindamycin. So you can try the cipro and see if it clears up but if it doesn't then if can take clindamycin I would then take probiotics after. Cipro can treat a lot of UTI's but not all. It depends on the bacteria that is causing the infection and how resistant it is.
Avatar m tn About 5 weeks ago I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed, and the oral surgeon prescribed me Clindamycin to prevent infection. A day or two after I finished my prescription I noticed that I wiped up a little blood on the toilet paper after going to the bathroom. I looked it up on the internet, and it said blood from the rectum could possibly be due to antibiotics, so I thought no big deal. I was also taking Ibuprofin and Vicodin for pain during the antibiotics.

Avatar n tn i am alergic too baxin, ceftin, augmentin, bactrim, levaquin, well she said i shouldnt be allergic to clindamycin, but i read the phamplet that came wth it and it talked about fatal reactions from diahrea. so long story short, because of having reactions to others i am terrified to take this. i tried for dentist to change it but her assistant was adamant about it. i havent taken it yet. its been two weeks i have been trying to decide.
Avatar f tn The main 2 antibiotics dentists like in the US are Amoxicillin and Clindamycin. However, if Cipro has worked for you in the past, there is no reason your dentist can't prescribe that for you instead (other than drug interactions if you are taking other meds). Talk to your dentist about it. Clindamycin is a great antibiotic, but its usually better for more severe infections and it does tend to cause a lot of GI problems. Azithromycin is also good if Clindamycin makes you that sick.
Avatar f tn Ladies, tell me the truth is it me or its just this stupid ksjahqbskcidow bacterial vaginosis?!?!? Ugh I've had since I found out I'm pregnant! Took flagyl but I was allergic to I switched to clindamycin. I took that clindesse clindamycin vaginal cream, didn't work!!! Clindamycin HCl tablets for 7 days didn't work!!! Now they want me to take clindamycin HCl for 7 days again!!!??!!!!!! I'm sooooooo confused, frustrated, devastated, im cryinh and all mix nega emotions!!!!
Avatar m tn If true, this means that the currently infected sinus survived the 2 week round of Clindamycin in September (or else it cleared up and got reinfected). I am concerned that throwing another round of Clindamycin at it risks antibiotic resistance (if it's not already). I'm also concerned about antibiotic resistance in the dental infections that remain. I expressed my concern to the ENT, and all he said was that he wasn't happy about more antibiotics either.
Avatar n tn Dear samb0007: Dry socket is frequently associated with lower third molar extraction. I assume you did take antibiotics and the pathogen involved is probably resistant to the one you took. It's advised that you go to see your dentist to switch antibiotics. In my experience, clindamycin 150-450mg/dose,#1Q.I.D. for a week.plus metronidazole 250mg,#1Q.I.D.generally clears up dry socket in 3 days. However, smoking is a signifacant contributing factor to dry socket.
Avatar n tn I went to several different doctors and they all told me I have Peri oral Dermatitis. I was prescribed Metronidazole at first and with no luck. The dryness slowly got worse and the red spots were not going away. I used Phisioderm to wash my wash my face and the dryness disappeared in a few days but then came back just as quick. After seeing a dermatologist he prescribed me Doxycycline for 1 month and an ointment made of Clindamycin 2%, HC 1% in 80% h20 and 20% isopropanol.
Avatar f tn am not itchy or swollen or anything and iv had thrush in the past so i know its not that. iv had a lapoarscopy sterilisation done last wednesday. this only started today. also when i put my hand down there its wet like clear water. any ideas. i feel dirty????????????????????????
Avatar f tn The results clearly show that the use of hydrogen peroxide in vagina can eliminate the main symptoms of bacterial vaginosis, and in particular the malodorous leucoxanthorrhea in 89% of cases at 3 months after the end of treatment, a result that is comparable to that obtained using metronidazole or clindamycin as a vaginal cream.
2075937 tn?1334884194 And for the over the counter kind I've heard to get the 7 day
Avatar m tn Generally metronidazole is used in combination with Clindamycin or Clarithromycin. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. Take care!

Avatar f tn Anyone have experience with any over the counter depression medicine that works well?
Avatar m tn Try clindamycin +metronidazole for 5days. You may need to request your oral surgeon to prescribe for you. If this antibiotic regimen Does not resolve your problem, you may need to see a neurologist.
Avatar f tn I have not had sex since I was diagnosed. But the metronidazole is not working. So now they gave me Clindamycin so hopefully this works.
Avatar f tn Hey guys, this is gonna be a long post so sorry in advance. The past 4 months I've been living a nightmare with my vagina. It started half way through January when I got what I thought to be a simple yeast infection (the clumpy discharge, itching and soreness). I've had yest infections in the past so I wasn't too worried. I just used the fenticonazole suppository and waited for it to pass. And it did, for like 3 days. Then I had my period and it came back with the same symptoms.
