My OB pescribed me Metronidazole for a vaginal bacteria infection. I believe they wouldnt give it to me if it was harmful, but ive read alot online about not taking it in your first trimester...im almost 10 weeks with my 3rd child. Im nervous but know I ignoring the infection can/may cause miscarriage....any comments would help.
I visited the doctor Monday with a vaginal infection and was given Metronidazole to start taking. I went back for results Wednesday and I was confirmed to have BV. My doctor then gave me Erythromycin to take (2, twice a day)... as well as the Metronidazole (3, three times a day). This seems like an awful lot of antibiotics. Why was I given Erythromycin, when from as far as I can tell, Metronidazole alone is the recommended treatment for BV?

I recently developed a white discharge from my penis. I went to a GUM clinic where an infection was found to be present, and so I was tested for gonorrhoea, chlamydia, HIV and syphilis; I do not think I was tested for trichomoniasis. Anyway, the tests came back negative.
Pending the results, the doctor had given me 7 days 2x100mg doxycycline which resolved symptoms quickly and I thought the infection was cleared. However, 5 days after the course was over, the white discharge returned.
I was given medication for and kidney infection and Acyclovir 800mg 5 X daily. However, before I could make my appointment the pain got worst I could barely walk and urination literally brought tears to my eyes so I went back to the emergency room. I noticed more swelling of the clitoris and vaginal opening additionally a few open cuts or ulcers where I had shaved prior.
I went to the obgyn last week they ran urine samples and std tests and everything was okay, I told them I’m spotting still for two weeks now three and cramping the test came back for BV so they prescribed me Metronidazole I felt way too anxious about taking it , Friday I went in for a ultrasound and pelvic ultrasound I believe and got the results today that it was fine. They now prescribed me clindamycin gel which I will pick up tomorrow due to pharmacy out of stock.
i finished taking metronidazole 500mg for 7 days and then took a pill for yeast infection for one day cant remenber the name but a week after the npleasant smell is still her ..

at first i didnt bother it but after my medication in soar throat and allergy(urcatitaria), my vagina started to became itchy and again, everyday i started having green discharged for `1 week. i went to a gynecologist and she prescribed me a metronidazole miconazole vaginal suppository and ive used that for `1 week.. now what my problem is, my white discharge had stop.. i am also currently taking up medice for my UTI and had experiexed sex but that was like long time ago...
and she said it was an infection that got into her kidneys. They gave her metronidazole which is used for trich but not kidney infections that I know of. Is there a reason they would prescribe this medication for an infection of the kidneys or am I wrong for being suspicious. We don't have sex for months and she is always out and coming home late.
In our clinic, given your recurrent symptoms, you would have been treated with the alternate medication recommended for chlamydial infection (doxycycline) plus metronidazole, not just metronidazole alone because of the (unproven) possibility that you might have failed your recent treatment.
Several additional thoughts arise however. First, your testing sounds unusual.
My question is, I think I have a yeast infection after taking metronidazole to treat BV. Is it safe for me to take Monistat without a doctor's diagnosis of a yeast infection?
A bit more detail if needed - doctor told me I had BV and prescribed the Metronidazole gel for 5 days. I finished using the gel on Sunday Oct 2. My symptoms seemed to be going away. However, starting yesterday morning, I have been experiencing some itching as well as thick, cottage-cheese like discharge.
I recently was hospitalized for a nasty Kidney infection. I have been out and on antibiotics for about a week and a half. My question is can you have kidney pain this much after recovery?? I feel like the pain is coming back. It is nothing like how bad it was the first time, but I definitely have some pain again in the same spot. The doctors think a UTI caused my infection in the first place, but I have no symptoms of a UTI now. I had some itching a few days ago, but that is gone now.

I had recently had a treatment of 10 days of Amoxicillin for upper resp. infection just before my visit to the OB/GYN for this treatment.I was not sure if that could have caused something. My Dr has treated me with Metronidazole- brand name used was flagyl Nylstatin for yeast, clamycin,spandnox (for yeast), and recently had some relief with Augmentin(which was prescribed for a chest infection). When i was on augmentin all the above symptoms went away however came back 1 or 2 days after i came off the anti biotic.
So just a quick question for all the women that have taken this before for bacterial vaginosis. So I started this a couple days ago and today I had a heavy amount of sticky discharge. This isnt normal for me. So I was wondering if this has happend to anyone else. Is it just the antibiotic clearing the infection.
i was given doxycycline and more metronidazole and finished these about three weeks ago. the tests results for stds and candida all came back negative, but the sympoms are still present.
i am going back to the gum the next time i can get away from work, but no one has been able to tell me what kind of infection this is or what kind of treatment will work. i would think it was only bv but the doctor said that it was an infection of some kind.
