metronidazole and urinary tract infection

Ive had a urinary tract infection for going on 6 weeks now. Ive been treated over and over and nothing seems to be getting rid of it. I dont have a regular dr so I am relying on trips to the er to help me. I am now so sick with the infection that I am throwing up and am in so much pain. I have a very serious history of kidney stones as well which doesnt help much either. I just had my last stone removed about 3 weeks ago.

Im 90% sure that I have a urinary tract infection but I have additional symptoms that I dont usually have. My partner and I had sex several nights ago and I developed the usual symptoms: painful urination general discomfort frequent urination urine is cloudy and pink What is unusual is that I have clumps of something when I pee. They are pinkish is this a possible symptom that will pass just like the others?

UTIs are exactly what their name describes. and infection in your urinary tract. its not in your vagina, however, ive always been told not to have sex while you have one because sex could be the cause of it. and its best to make sure its all better before introducing even more bacteria. Ive never heard of it being contagious, and dont think that it is, but ask your doctor. and ive also never had a cream to use, so im not sure what thats for.

Another culture done and came back contaminated was treated with metronidazole. Now done with prescription and systems still persist. Going to call doctor to see if another analysis/culture. Any other suggestions on what I should do.

This didnt help so I went back to the doctor in July and was positive for urinary tract infection and 8/12/2012 was then given 500 mg of metronidazole one tablet twice a day for seven days.This still didnt cure me,, mind u everytime i go back to the doc .. im checked again and I am still positive for trichomonas. next trip to doctor was 9/22/2012 i was given 150 mg of clindamycin two capsules twice a day for 7 days. t test for a urinary tract infection at first despite my complaints. So I believe I went weeks with a urinary tract infection that should have been diagnosed early in my treatment. So I would insist on having a urinalysis too if you are experiencing painful urination. Your doctor will probably request that test, but if not I would insist upon it. I wish I had. Good luck. Don't wait too much longer since a UTI could move up to the kidney and cause complications.

There is nothing you can really do about the urinary tract infection except take the antibiotics. They may want you to take a stronger antibiotic (prescribed by your doctor) but being pregnant makes us more probable to have urinary tract infections. It doesn't become a problem unless you ignore it.
