Avatar f tn I started Lamictal very slowly, 25mg each week and I am now at 200mg. Last week the memory loss started. Yesterday confusion started along with memory loss. It's pretty bad. I'll tell or share something to diff family members and then they will tell me I already told them. I have no recollection. I can't seem to comprehend things. I will be told something and it just doesn't register, can't understand what they are saying, even after explaing it a few times.
Avatar f tn I have been on meds for bi-polar and have developed tremors and memory loss (phone #, SS# etc plus other). I have gotten off the meds, been a few days, and am scared that this will be a permanent change. Friends who hadn't seen me in months, came over recently and were shocked and concerned about me, telling me that I seemed like a zombie. My husband's friends are pulling him aside and asking what's wrong. This is NOT the normal me.
Avatar f tn Many who have taken Topamax cannot tolerate it. The side effects often progress into painful nerve "zaps" and memory loss. My husband was on it for 3 months and had bizarre personality changes and suffered from severe depression until he stopped taking it. My advice would be to change to something else...
1154462 tn?1327434379 I've just finished my 6th ECT treatment, and I have to say that I'm MUCH better. The memory loss is minimal for me, and well worth the benefits I'm seeing. I was in a suicidal depression, and it snapped me right out of it. PM me anytime.
1654810 tn?1302015040 Hi, I'm on 200mg Lamictal per day. I am finding more memory loss, also a form of stuttering I think. What I do often is I repeat a word over and over something like at work, and Im the boss lol, I might say " I think we should go go go go and get this item ordered now.
Avatar f tn My question is do others experience this extreme form of memory and concentration loss? Can depression really cause such poor memory? It feels like my brain is turning to mush. I am scared, suffering and so very tired of all of this. Any advice?

Avatar n tn Need input on coming off depakote. Currently taking 750 mg x 3 daily. I USED to have seizures due to a stroke, but I have been seizure free for a year. I am on 30 mg of abilify & 200 mg of lamictal. I want to come off the depakote due to weight gain & memory loss/confusion. My Neurologist has given her approval, but I do not want a manic episode at all. Can you help?
Avatar m tn I haven't had any memory issues with Lamictal & Wellbutrin. By chance are you on a statin for cholesterol?
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 21 year old female who has been experiencing memory loss issues. I've always had not the best memory, but now in the past 4-5 months its gotten to a point where its negatively impacting my life on a daily basis; I can't remember things I've done with my friends, inside jokes, people I've met, what a movie I watched a month ago was about. Every day when someone says "Remember this happened..
Avatar f tn Topamax becareful with that it caused me a week of memory loss. Some meds will put you to sleep but you would need to watch that so you wont grow dependent on them. I have the same problem with insomnia. If I were you I try to go the natural route if you could.
Avatar f tn I know that when I am in a low or high mood my memory gets slurped down a tube. I have the memory of an elephant, or at least I had. I had my Lamictal upped and it has in general (when I'm not in pain) raised my mood and it's made me have clearer thinking. You are on a pretty low dose of Lamictal, it could be that you aren't in a "therapeudic range" for that or some of your meds, but that's only a guess, you should speak to your pdoc about your memory issues.
Avatar n tn Go to askapatient.com and see what the actual patients are saying. Memory loss, cognitive abilities, ability to articulate, spell, depression, anxiety, fatigue, suicidal tendencies...just to name a few. This drug has more side effects and patient complaints than any I have ever been on in 20 years for seizures.
Avatar m tn t cause these symptoms or others such as drowsiness, degraded intellectual activity, short-term memory loss, or hair loss (Lamictal), or otherwise have a fundamental downside such as not being practical for long-term use in the case of most anti-anxiety medication. As I mentioned, I have more an issue with depression than mania; the mania I encounter is hypomanic and controllable.
1243818 tn?1270399452 Both of the drugs will impact your memory; I take Lamictal and it causes me some cognitive problems. I seriously doubt you have Alzheimer's disease, although the meds can make you feel that way.
997928 tn?1252444237 t focus, have short-term memory loss, speak slowly, and have an exceding amount of mucus in my throat. I was taking 300mg. Now I'm at 225mg. It has helped to take down the dose, but it's still very annoying! I take it with 300mg of Effexor XR which I have been taking for several years. Does anyone have a suggestion on a replacement for Lamictal? I've also been diagnosed with Bi-Polar NOS. Lamictal works okay for my mood, but the anxiety is still bothersom.
Avatar f tn How would you lose your memory?
1116472 tn?1260075052 Well doctora, i dont have a psych appt. i have been self medicating. alcohol for a couple yrs, the pain pills last few mos. I am unsure how the lamictal is working for me, as i have not had my right mind, after the seizure, i've suffered memory loss, so i haven't been able to guage what is doing what for me.
Avatar f tn My short time memory is really bad, but it has been like that for many years and isnĀ“t an effect of Lamictal. Be ware of any skin lesions and contact your doctor if it appears, for a consultation. Good luck!
Avatar f tn t feel bad up to days later upon reflection . Sometimes I have memory loss for days or hours unable to focus my attention to even watch tv or listen to a conversation. I lose words I knew an it may take days to remember a name or I word I was searching for in my brain .
Avatar f tn Over the 2yrs span I complained of various symptoms that I had not experienced prior to the meds ie. paranoia, social anxiety, mild ocd, severe memory loss........ Each visit when I brought up a concern I was always told "this is just part of the disease" and "I never noticed it before because I was in denial." Currently I feel very depressed, aggitated angry, hopeless, and somewhat suicidal.
Avatar f tn Hi Friendlysky137, Yeah my neurologist put me on the Lamictal with the Keppra to try stop everything but my eyes were still fluttering so he added the topomax after many years of just the Lamictal and Keppra. When I started the Lamictal, I felt fine but over time, I started feeling like you, my mind was starting to go. I have always been great at remembering numbers and things like that and found myself to be forgetting simple things.
Avatar f tn I've usually always take a mood stabilizer, ie. Lamictal & a anti psychotic, ie. Seroquel. I take them in combination or ill be extremely manic. I've tried depakote & the only issue was weight gain & slight hair loss. I haven't noticed many side effects w/ lamictal. I think combining lamictal w/ lithium is a good decision.
