Avatar m tn I've had memory loss due to vitamin B12 malabsorption, hypothyroidism, and severe stress. Alzheimer's is also called Diabetes Type 3. A book you might want to read is called Brain Grain by David Perlmutter M.D.
Avatar m tn Hi I am 35 year old non drug using male, who also drinks very little. Last year i had a bout of itch hands which was followed by mental confussion and lines appearing wavey rather than stright. Was Hospitalized and had ct and mri done, plus all the usual blood tests. Found nothing after 6 weeks everything went back to normal, except my eyes which have 20/20 vision but i see white noise in the dark ceiling at night.
Avatar m tn Hi my name is Robin, and mmy concern is that my memory has become very weak in last 10 years. Now what I mean is that I am unable to remember any study material in college such as large paragraphs, even after revision. I can only remember one or tweo lines. This was not always the case because in chilhood my memory was preety good since I remembereed most of the reading that I did, but not the same in college. I am currently doing HR and it demands that you have a good memory.
Avatar n tn I stumbled upon this blog the same way as many did that found their way here. linking type 1 diabetes and memory loss. and as i can see it looks as though even though there aren't a lot of posts here, they are all common with the same issue. hopefully a cure will be found for this condition. May you all be blessed, and try not to let diabetes get the best of you.
Avatar m tn One of the most frustrating is memory loss. Memory loss can occur in most people as they age. But sometimes, memory loss can be due to circulatory problems and hormonal changes in the body. To prevent memory loss when a person has diabetes, one should change their diet to include foods with fiber, protein, and calcium that will stimulate blood flow and also help replace some of the nutrients lost. Exercise will also promote blood flow.
Avatar f tn re trying to figure out what caused the memory loss the diabetes or the gallbladder removal.
Avatar f tn In short, I have visual and auditory hallucinations constantly, and so far I only have 3 voices, two female and one male. I have had memory loss for as long as I can remember, which would be since 5th grade. I am 17 now. My memory loss has gotten significantly worse. I went from being able to remember an assignment was due on a certain day to not being able to remember a number less than 5 minutes later, or being unable to remember a statement a minute later.
Avatar n tn Some studies seem to show that some type 1 diabetic people who have suffered from repeated hypoglycemic episodes (low blood sugar episodes) can display temporary or perhaps some permanent loss of memory function. There is a good article on the following website about some studies on this issue, using both young and older type 1 patients. If you can skim through the technical language, it does offer some good information: http://diabetes.diabetesjournals.
18432675 tn?1464832893 3 times a day, I noticed Severe Short Term Memory Loss. Spacial Memory Loss. Horrible!! I was leaving my keys in department stores. I forget Everything!! I feel like a Different Person. 50% of people say "It's the medication" It does say "Common Side Effects of gabapentin, temporary loss of memory, (amnesia), difficulty with speaking" I cannot think of certain words when speaking... Frustrating as heck!! I Never Had Any memory problems before this.
Avatar f tn Also the diabetes drug metformin is known to cause low vitamin B12 levels. Low levels of B12 also cause memory loss, fatigue and many other health problems.
1339419 tn?1275966042 My short term memory is not 100% as it is, although it is not as bad as my long term memory, and when my blood pressure is really high ( 160/100+ ) I seem to have short term memory loss that increases with the increasing blood pressure numbers. Is this a direct side effect of high blood pressure, others with hypertension having suggested it effects their short term memory, or is it confined only to myself because of my memory problems?
Avatar f tn I guess I am asking if it may be my medications, diet, or what it might be to cause this weight loss, bruising, weakness, dizziness and memory loss and for the blood test to show a low blood count and high sugar levels. If any one might be able to help or have any suggestions, please contact me.
926553 tn?1244047438 m 46 had 3 strokes in early april, very blessed I was left with Horners syndrome and short term memory loss. After 2 1/2 months my memory loss is getting worst instead of better. Avatar m tn There have been some reports of memory loss and disturbance of other cognitive functions including alertness following Carbamazepine (Tegretol) use. The effect of the seizure focus in the frontal lobe can't be denied. The two combined together may be responsible for the memory loss.
Avatar n tn In the preceding several hours, I had taken a hike, did some calisthenics, took a shower, ate supper, watched TV, ate a candy bar, and was reading before going to bed. It was hot and humid, so I was sweating quite a bit. The taste of my sweat was startling - I can't remember it ever tasting sweet like that. I have a vague memory that sweet-tasting sweat is a symptom of something bad - my memory comes up with Heat Exhaustion or Diabetes. Thanks.
Avatar m tn There is no link between hypothyroidism and Chiari mentioned in any medical journal or medical website. All comments are ancedotal. That isn't a bad thing however, as there is over a decade of ancedotal comments of the conviction that statin drugs (cholesterol lowering drugs) caused high blood sugar and type 2 diabetes. Last year the FDA ordered a black box warning for all statin drugs: risk of memory loss, confusion, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes.
Avatar n tn my husband has short term memory loss, i catch him crying, and he sleeps alot doc said could be mild cognitive impairment, or dementia,he has a clear brain scan ,never had a stroke, he also has has out of control diabetes.
Avatar n tn Pulse pressure is the difference in blood pressure between the systolic blood pressure and the diastolic blood pressure. Pulse pressure in healthy adults in a sitting position is about 40 mmHg. Your have a wide pulse pressure of 93mmHg.
Avatar n tn Actually the Cogentin and Inderal (a blood pressure medication) might causing the memory loss but they are used to control extra-pyramidal side effects and are necccesary for that. Those are movement disorders that are temporary but he is also at risk for permanent conditions such as tardive dyskinesia which I have and in myself is as bad as Parkinsons and can emerge after the antipsychotic masks it while it is progressing. It is irreversible.
Avatar m tn I am sorry to hear about your son’s medical problems. His memory loss could be due to the weight loss. Unintentional weight loss could be due to eating disorder. In which case taking help from a doctor specialized in treating eating disorders will help. There are many other causes of unexplained weight loss like worms in stool, depression, anorexia nervosa, AIDS (unlikely in your son’s case), cancers especially colon cancers, drug abuse, infections and loss of appetite.
Avatar n tn I have been having strange "black-out" episodes, where my vision becomes blurry and or black, sometimes mild hallucinations (objects become different, once a mailbox looked like a stop sign etc) or i just don't comprehend anything i see, i can't be sure because my memory is temporarily disrupted, (i.e. i forget where i am or what i am doing, or what the time and date is, etc.) It is accompanied by various degrees of nausea sometimes culminating in vomiting.
Avatar f tn I also think that you should see a doctor about such extreme memory loss. It could certainly be from any of the problems listed above. And you need to get help with it as soon as possible. I don't think that an anti-depressant, especially one that you have been taking for the past 8 years, would suddenly cause this type of memory loss. I only had such bad memory problems the first week after having a major stroke and was diagnosed with aphasia.
Avatar f tn For the past 2 weeks I have been experiencing extreme fatigue(even with a good 8+ hours a night of sleep), occasional dizziness later in the evening and short term memory loss. I have noticed the memory loss seems to be getting worse. I find myself almost zoned out at times with my mouth open and looking confused.I am in a professional technical field and when speaking with customers on the phone I cannot remember simple things associated to my job.
1806721 tn?1554333407 Feb. 28, 2012 -- Memory loss, confusion, high blood sugar, and type 2 diabetes are possible side effects of the popular cholesterol-lowering drugs known as statins, the FDA warns. Brand name and generic versions of statin drugs must carry these warnings on their labels, the FDA today announced.
Avatar m tn You should also aim to improve your memory through memory games and especially designed exercises. For this you will need to consult a neuro-psychiatrist. Also, the sinus issues have to be dealt with as chronic sinusitis too can affect the brain function. Please discuss with your treating doctors. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
