Avatar f tn On Aug. 31st my dog was diagnosed with Kidney Failure. Her creatinine was at a 8. As of almost 2 weeks ago it went down to a 2. I have been giving her 6 cc's of fluid subcutaneously. As also Aluminum Hydroxide Gel, USP 5 mL after she eats. Along with PancrePlus as she basically has chronic pancreatitis since 2011 and I can only feed her either boiled chicken & rice or science diet I/D or she starts to tremble in pain.

Avatar n tn Sadly, even with treatments, some dogs succumb to the disease within days after being diagnosed....other dogs will live for many more months, to several years..! I have read stories of kidney failure dogs who have lived very happily for 5 and even 6 years..! The term Chronic Kidney "Failure" can make things sound so final....it really only becomes final, when treatments, diet, and fluid therapies are no longer helping.
Avatar m tn Hi. When you say moderate, do you know the stage (1 to 4) of kidney disease? Do you know what caused the kidney disease? How old is your dog? Do you have recent blood and urine sample test results at hand to post? My enquiries are so I can offer some help. Kidney disease is a very complex condition and different blood results and staging of the disease involve different diet requirements.

Avatar m tn She was diagnosed 3 weeks ago stage 4 kidney failure. I to noticed the lack of eating, and brought her in right away. I was shocked to hear this, and let the vet keep her for overnight to administer fluids. I took her back last week for the follow-up, which they tested her blood again. This time her numbers were worst than the week before. She is now going down hill fast, and I am so torn as what to do. She doesnt seem to be in pain, just noticing the laying around, and throwing up more often.
Avatar n tn Ok, i don't know how to start, so i'll just tell you. It is about my dad. He has many diseases, like kidney failure and hyperthyroid. I'm writing here to look for some help, therapies or natural herbs or something, anything that would help him. Hyperthyroid he got last year, and kidney failure he have now about 25 years or so. If anyone know, have ideas, i would really appreciate that.
Avatar f tn When she finally went to the doctor she was told she had heart failure, kidney failure and liver failure. Heart failure and kidney failure can cause the water weight gain in the legs and ankles. The low blood pressure is another sign of distress. If you can, you should get her to the doctor. We have struggled with this since April. She was given weeks to 6 months back then, and she's still fighting, though we can see deterioration.

Avatar f tn You should first confirm that your dog is in kidney failure by taking her to a vet for some blood and urine tests. There is absolutely nothing that can be done to cure kidney failure. Once that tissue is destroyed, it's gone forever. What you CAN do is make some dietary changes that might preserve the remaining kidney tissue and function a little longer. If your dog is in very advanced kidney failure, she'll need meds for the constant nausea and vomiting.
Avatar f tn s kidney problems were discovered by his primary care physician who routinely runs a number of blood tests, including one for kidney function. My father takes a number of medications, including those for heart failure. Heart problems eventually led to kidney problems. Ironicly, The heart meds can affect kidneys adversely. The doctor has monitor Dad's meds very closely. When Dad is in heart failure he needs additional dosages of diaretics.

Avatar m tn Feller, my 13 year old beagle mix/best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney failure 2 weeks ago. I am considering getting a feeding tube inserted into his stomach, as he will not eat anything and hasnt for 3 days.
Avatar n tn Diabetics struggle with CHF, as well as kidney failure and there is no cure for the problems, but rather control of the symtoms. I'm not diabetic, but I have most of the symptoms, and am constantly asked if I'm diabetic, and am tested frequently. I have stage 4 heart failure(CHF), stage 5 kidney failure, and am now on dialysis. Your brother might benefit from dialysis to help clear the fluid from his body.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have a 6 year old daughter that was born with hydronephrosis in her left kidney and grade 2 reflux in her right kidney. Some time between birth and 1 year old her left kidney dissolved and by age 3 her reflux had went completly away.
15945427 tn?1444236393 And that does present a problem. SubQs for kidney failure are far better given with fluids called Lactated Ringers (LR). The reason is, LR is a balanced fluid - it is much the same in terms of electrolytes, minerals, etc., as a dog's own body fluids. The idea is that vets can add anything they think appropriate to the LR fluids, including essential minerals, electrolytes and medications, that may be needed to supplement low blood readings.
