1008841 tn?1293598960 Has anyone heard about a study with Losartan, a BP drug, on people with HCV, with moderate Fibrosis? Its suppose to shrink them, so the liver can heal. I was wondering how I could get on a study like that? I'm Type1a, a non-responder.
Avatar n tn There was a small study about losartan reversing liver fibrosis. It is a blood pressure med. I will try to find the study and post it, or search for it on.the forum.
Avatar n tn I will be watching the news on this. I saw an older study that showed Losartan to be just as good as Nadolol (Propranalol) at lowering portal pressure but they had a later study that supposedly still shows Nadolol to be better . If it is even almost as good, it might be worth the risk to get rid of some liver scarring for stage 4's like my husband. It is pretty hard to get Dr's to do much off the beaten path but we have pretty well exhausted the beaten path to no avail.
Avatar n tn People often take sleeping meds and anti depressants that have hcv or are treating. I don't know a lot about the lisinoprill, but I read about a small study that Losartan (for high blood pressure) may reverse fibrosis. Your doctor should know about your hcv and your meds, especially if you are treating. http://ihealthbulletin.
Avatar f tn the doctor switched me to Losartan 50 qd. I am going to change on Monday to Losartan and am nervous about what will happen. any thoughts on this??
Avatar m tn I was on Losartan 50mg which was working fairly well then the nephrologist suggested I switch to Amlodipine 2.5 mg. which he says is better for creatinine levels. I had been taking Amlodipine for a few weeks and BP rose. Doctor has increased to 5 mg. Not sure how long it will take to reduce BP. Has anyone any experience with Amlodipine? How is it? Any adverse side effects?
Avatar f tn Hallo there -anyone and everyone. Is there any reasons to prefer or take losartan above olmesartan or the olmesartan above losartan. Person taking these is african, 57 years, female and oh, my mother.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar m tn //www.drugs.com/sfx/losartan-side-effects.html Uncommonly, ear congestion and hearing loss occur. But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated.
Avatar m tn My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good. I was getting the Losartan from Walgreens as a 30 day supply.
Avatar n tn I cannot remember if I took my Losartan today or not - 100 mg. should I take it?
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar m tn I have been on Losartan for approximately eight months come here recently I have found it very difficult to swallow my food and seems like he gets caught in my esophagus, yesterday at two different Meals I began to choke on my food I had to drink several glasses of water in order to get my food to go down with no issues. Could this be a side effect of Losartan?
Avatar m tn Second, how big is your aorta, and where on the aorta was the measurement taken? There is a study floating around from awhile back in which the researchers found that Olympic weightlifters (and I assume you as a personal trainer would fall in that category for these purposes) have enlarged aortas. So the enlargement COULD -- COULD -- be normal for you. Finally, if you continue to lift, you should minimize or eliminate the use of the Valsalva maneuever.
Avatar f tn Week 10 of ANA598 Study. Dose reduced Peg/Riba Wk 6 and started Procrit. Blood pressure has been up so doseage of losartan was increased and diuretic added this week. Terrible deep muscle cramping and surface spasms. Each drug has its own side effects. Am I being too restrictive of sodium and potassium intake? Hoping not to have to add more drugs to the mix. I'm stage 3-4, 1b, had breakthrough wk 65 of SOC May 2010. Appreciate any insight from tx exp'd- Thanks!
16467414 tn?1448304929 The doctor put on Losartan Potassium 50 mg. Since then I have been feeling nauseated and slightly dizzy. Are these symptoms normal with this medication? Any help will be appreciated.
Avatar n tn I stopped taking losartan September 8,still having symptoms. Been on losartan about 4 years. I have asked the dr. Could it be that,he said no. I stopped myself to see if it's the problem. I have a home blood pressure monitor & it's been in the120-128/78-82 range. Problem been going on about year..
Avatar f tn After a month of anti-tb medications, my cough still persists, my doctor then prescribed diflucan 150 thinking that I might have a fungal infection aside from tb. i just had 2 caps of diflucan but I now suspect that losartan is the culprit since I am taking it for more than a year now. I came across its adverse effect as I searched for the answer of my persistent cough. Is my suspicion right?
2009161 tn?1327915695 I was worried so went to a doctor, the doctor checked my BP was 170/100, which was high as per the doctor, since then I am having LOSARTAN POTASIUM tablets of 50 mg every day prescribed by him, but still at times my BP in the evenings when I check is 150/100. Do I need to increase my dossage or continue with some physical excercises to reduce my BP, when ever I did some meditation for 10 mins, I checked with my electronic BP monitor it reduces compared to previous reading though.
Avatar n tn Hello How are you? Thats quite the interesting story. I would be interested to see the formal report of your echo study. PFO occurs in approximately 20% of individuals. An important part of the echo study to evaluate PFO is a "bubble study" which uses bubbles to visualize if the PFO is active. As you know, a PFO allows blood to cross from the return side (right) of the heart to the outflow side (left).
Avatar f tn Four cups of coffee a day prevented a study group of derelict alcoholics from developing Cirrhosis. They were in a clinical trial of hard core alcoholics with and without coffee. http://www.news-medical.net/news/2006/06/12/18412.
