As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week. No change in BP. I am baffled. GP does not have a clue either. I want to try going back to Cozaar. Sound reasonable?

I have COPD and something was aggravating my breathing problems. I went to the doctor yesterday and he took me off the Metoprolol and put me on 100 mg of Losartan. He told me to just stop taking the Metoprolol. I questioned starting off with such a high dose of Losartan. I am on Losartan 50 mg sice last few years, Sometime my BP goes berserk ranging from 150-160/90-105. I used to combine atenolo 25 mg and it used to be normal. Now since 5 days back I forgot to take Losartan at my usual time in morning, but took it in evening. Losartan is a really good drug with few side effects. 50 mg is not a high dose. It should not be causing any of the problems you mention. Ask your doctor.

Take very small doses of Zocor, and now just 12.5 mg of the Losartan. I am not against it, just having bad stomach and muscle pains, but so far so good.

How long have you been on Losartan? 100 mg is a large dosage and it, too, can cause dizziness and tiredness... Never have experienced anything like this until I started this drug. Only on 25 mg day but it has to be it. Is there a good alternate. I am really healthy but have higher blood pressure and not sure why. Heart came back great.

Rampril is an ACE inhibitor and this class of drugs has a good reputation. I would prefer Losartan, which seems to have a superior action with few side effects. The dose of Ramipril is half of what can be prescribed daily (20 mg). It is NOT o.k. to take more propanalol. I would discuss with your physician the idea of eliminating both drugs and going to simply Losartan.
