Have had rectal pain for 2 months, thought it was hemorrhoids, GI and family doctors said it wasn't and didn't know what it was from for sure. Said to see a pain management doctor thinking it is a nerve in my recturm? However, I am confused as to what the pain management dr would do since no definite diagnosis. I tried everything over the counter including lidocaine with no relief. The pain is constant and only relief is when I sleep. Worried!!!

Hi everybody! I'm new to this online forum stuff. But i developed internal hemorrhoids with this medicine and i'm having one heck of a time dealing with the pain. Went to collorectal surgeon last wednesday and he and my GI doctor decided to put me on suppositories for a week to see if swelling goes down. I dont think it's working. still hurts to go. I've missed 5 days work already because i have to do sitz baths every so many hours and obviously can't do that at work.
I feel it would be safe to say you have hemmroids,, you get them from heavy lifting, sitting for long periods of time, straining during bowel movements endless reasons. and the itching may just be from not cleaning well enough after b.m.'s and the hemmroids make this more difficult,, I personally use baby wipes and if that doesn't help, ask your dr. for a perscription for Lidocaine HCI 3% and Hydrocortisone Acetate 2.5% Gel.
Yea sounds like hemmorhoids. You can use some tuck pads after each time you use the restroom to relieve the pain and itching (if there's any) and take some stool softener daily and don't strain when you go.
physician assistant did digital rectal exam. no hemmrhoids, no bleeding when tested. gave me lidocaine 3% 0.5% hydrocortisone cream. started last night 1st of 20 applications. during night sleeping I felt a slight pin head or smaller like under the skin outside of anus around 4 o'clock position. It feels like a sharp like cartiliage like projection. when sitting on it is when it itches. I think the friction is causing the itching.
It would occur after a hard bowel movement and would produce blood for a few days. I assumed it was hemorrhoids. Even a flex. sig. suggested that it was hemorrhoids.
Finally, after being referred to a Rectal Surgeon, it was diagnosed as an annal fissure. By now it had become chronic with no relief from the pain after a BM. The pain usually lasted about 6 hours and then gradually reduced as I would go into the evening.
I guess doctors use Lidocaine for numbing before different procedures and my doctor said it worked wonders for hemorrhoids, too.
Working with both our family doctor and the GI doc, we used the above tricks and also added MiraLax, a stool softening laxative that is available over-the-counter, to her diet. Don't let laxative scare you off. My daughter was taking a full adult dose and it doesn't create a need to go NOW. It is gentle and safe.
There are no contraindications for using lidocaine for the purpose described. The only danger is that lidocaine completely anesthetizes tissue, which is why you can cut or suture an area treated by lidocaine. Thus it is possible to cause a tear or injury that would not be noticed until the lidocaine wore off. In the case of normal intercourse, this should not be a problem.
A few weeks ago my butt was hurting me so bad that I had to go to the emergency room. They gave me Lidocaine there and it numbed the pain. My GI doctor wants me to do a colonoscopy this Friday. I am nervous and don’t know if I can go a whole day without eating. I’m 5’8 160 but just don’t know if I can go a whole day without eating. I’m also nervous about the prep drink too and 2 pills I have to take. The not eating part is bothering me.

Treatment for hemorrhoids would depend on the kind and severity of one’s symptoms. If the hemorrhoids are still small and do not cause any problems, oral medications and an ointment applied on them would be helpful. Having a high fiber diet and increasing water intake would also help. However, if the hemorrhoids are already thrombosed, resulting in bleeding, enlargement, pain, and difficulty in moving the bowels, surgical excision would be the best treatment.
I am terrified of needles too and I FELT NOTHING.. They used Buffered Lidocaine injection which I did not feel any of.. I must admit, I did put over the counter Lidocaine cream all over my breast about an hour before the procedure. I used this Lidocaine cream on my arm before a tetanus shot that I had to get and was so afraid of and I was screaming for the nurse to WAIT but.. IT WAS ALREADY DONE! Helps a lot so you don't feel pain.
Nurse also gave me tips for next time I get an injection.
I just want to thank you for all of your suggestions and beginning today I will try all of them. I feel like the "bottom" pain is the worst side effect from taking the Incevik. The pain that you described is exactly like shards of glass or razor blades. I just have to get through it!
Hello, My sister needs extensive dental work i.e. root canals and fillings and crowns. She is a heart patient and we are wondering if Lidocaine, EPI, or any of the 'caines' are safe for dental work in heart patients? We do not want to start an arrythmia attack. Any safe meds? Thanks much.
I had a follow-up PM appointment today. I haven't seen her in a couple of months. We stopped my Cymbalta about a month ago and it made a HUGE difference in how I feel mentally and emotionally. Apparently that wasn't the drug for me, and it makes no difference in my pain, which was the point of going on it to begin with.
I had a terrible fibromyalgia flare-up before Thanksgiving. The worst in a long time. To the point I had to crawl up the stairs and go down on my bum.
Not to my knowledge, there is nothing that can cause a positive cocaine result.
