I took the 1st Gedarel 30 pill on the 2nd day of my period (but it was my 2nd birth control pill in that cycle as I had taken micgrogynon the night before as above) . I have taken gedarel 30 regularly since then at 10pm everyday.

Hi I'm a 24 year old that's been on birth control since the age of 19. I have been researching the cardiovascular effects of birth control and saw that it can raise c-reactive protein levels. How clinically significant is this? I know crp is a measure of inflammation in the body. So is increasing it's level going to actually cause inflammation? Or is it simply upregulated, and if so what are the consequences of that? I recently switched for alesse which has levonorgestrel.

just take the morning after pill and start on the birth control like a week later as the dose of hormones are high in the morning after pill and may cause alot of side effects if you start birth control pill so soon. hope this helps.

Plan B is a high dose of levonorgestrel, which is one of the synthetic progestins available in birth control pills. The "period" you get on the pill is actually bleeding caused by the withdrawal of the hormones during the inactive pill week, and not a true period you would get if you were ovulating normally. Plan B is known to cause menstrual irregularities after taking it, and my guess is that you're having withdrawal bleeding after that dose of hormones. Keep using condoms.

Sharma please do your research. Levonorgestrel is a cause of hair loss in women. Every single birth control that contains high androgen index progestins can cause hair loss. Stop telling women Plan B and birth control pills don’t cause hair loss. They do. The more doctors that understand this - the less of a problem women will have as they can make an informed choice. Please do your research. A simple search on any big BCP air IUD containing high androgen index progestins will show you this.

You should be ok if the pill has been working well for you so far. The birth control pills tell your body that your already pregnant so you dont actually get pregnant by using certain hormones. As long as you are pretty accurate by taking the pill the same time each day and you have never had any problems I think you will be fine. But remember even if all has been well up to this point that the pill is only 99 percent effective.
