after taking Levaquin 500 mg for 2 days I had a sudden onset of stiffness at inner rt thigh. after 1 hr could not put any weight on rt leg. numb spots bilateral calves. I stopped Levaquin and contacted my dr. who changed the antibiotic and told me to take motrin for the inflammation and explained that tendon rupture was rare on Levaquin. This is day 4 I'm walking with a slight limp due to stiffness inner thigh and weight bearing.
I had pneumonia in Feb 2017. Was on 750 mg of Levaquin for 5 days (1 per day). A few days after the last dose my left Achilles tendon was very sore. 1 month later, I went to my podiatrist. I had an MRI and it confirmed 2 tears in the tendon as a reaction to Levaquin. Had surgery in May 2017. In a cast for 3 months, then 12 weeks of PT. Today, still swollen, but was told it will last about a year. Now, 12 months after my doses of Levaquin, same Achilles tendon symptoms but now in my right ankle.
ve had pain that has radiated through the same range before, but never quite as prolonged as now, and never with any sensation of numbness that follows after the intense pain. I also fell on my left hip pretty hard a couple of weeks ago that caused some paresthesia (though I may have injured my right one too without realizing it; the epididymitis is also mostly in my right testicle), but that injury has since gotten considerably better. I am currently nineteen years old.
After a couple of days I started feeling pain in my upper chest, shoulder, down my right arm and right underarm. The pain feels like a needle is jabbing me. Sometimes the pain will go away and somtimes it is very bad and lasts for weeks at a time. I also have some musle pain in these areas. Can you please help me figure out what to do about this.
I need help please. My doctors had me on Levaquin for 4 years straight. I believe it's destroyed most of my immune system. Since being off Levaquin for the past few months, I have had chronic bronchitis and pneumonia since. My muscles and body is in agony. I now have to use oxygen all the time, day and night. The recovery times from surgeries are greatly extended now. I'm having another back surgery in a few weeks.
I am experiencing pain that runs down the front of my leg and extends into my hip area. I cannot seem to get any answers from my doctor. Can this pain be caused by the infection and is this something I should be worried about? How would this type of infection occur? I am on Levaquin 500 mg per day. What do I expect after the course of anti-biotics and how will they test to see if the infection is still present. This pain began shortly after my first surgery to remove the lymph nodes.
I too suffer from Levaquin toxcity ruptured shoulders bicep and now I believe my hip is ruptured I live in pain everyday Nothing they give me completely gets rid of the pain. I am seeing a chiro for Levaquin detox just started so no progress yet this drug should beremoved from the treatment of any matter.
very weak abdominal muscles, extreme lower back pain and muscles feel as though they are being ripped off my hips...worse on left..also left hip feels like there is a knife deep inside the hip joint. Slight scoliosis out of nowhere...I think if abdominal muscles are weak, it will pull hip & back muscles, but not sure, sinse scoliosis is a factor as well ( I don't know what the curve degree is). Cannot lean side to side, nor can I stand on left hip, because my right hip will pull me over.
Hi! I hope someone can help me. I have had a numb scalp (hair loss also, may not be related, but..figure that if I am not possibly getting blood to my scalp, then hair loss makes sense), tinnitus, numb ears, numb face, lack of ability to taste most foods, photophobia is also an issue. I had cervical disc fusion in 10/2008, and wonder if there is a compressed nerve (Neurosurgeon refuses to follow up)..I had bone spurs also and stenosis.
My husband was diagnosed with Bacterial Pneumonia and was prescribed Levaquin. He has been off the medication for about a week and a half and he is still experiencing phobic attacks in the morning. He wakes up in a panic and believes that he cannot breath. While he was taking the drug he experienced major confusion, anxiety, depression and dizziness. It was awful! He even experienced a very bad episode when he became abusive...and delusional.
ve been on Levaquin twice. Ugh!!! I have severe joint pain and fatigue both times. I have a really high pain tolerance and was allergic to my other options at the time, so I toughed out the 10 days both times. I don't recommend that and my doctor has promised to figure out an alternative for future infections. The first time, the serious fatigue and joint pain lasted about 3 weeks total (including the 10 days). The second time it was about 5 weeks.
No change in bowel or bladder except he recently has been on levaquin for second episode of prostatitis (first episode 20 years ago).
Any ideas about what is going on?

Couple months ago I had unprotected sex. Two weeks later I had pain in my uretha between my anus and testicles. When I would sit in car for long time it would be more painful. I went to the doctors they had me pee in cup, nothing came up. At this time there was no pain in the penis. The doctor said it probally Prostatitis, so they put me on smz-tmp antibiotic for couple weeks. During this time pain got worse, into my testicles and burning in my penis.
for the past 3-4 months now I have been having on and off again pain. The pain seems to feel like a dull ache and seems to be coming from my left testicle/groin area. I went to see a urologist; physical examination was normal, rectal examination was normal, and ultrasound showed no abnormalities/masses/swelling. I was on Levaquin for 7 days/500mg and this has not really helped. I am not really sure what to do now. Any advice or suggestions? Thanks a lot.
Good to see his symptoms improving. It could a side effect of levaquin, as this can cause swelling and pain in the joints, this is more so if he is prone for joint/tendon problems such as tendonitis and bursitis. It should resolve once the medication is stopped. Discuss these symptoms with your consulting doctor he may change the dose or the medication.

I took Levaquin unfortunately last week to treat a bacterial infection. The infection is gone but now my legs are tingling all the time and are in pain as well. I am wondering how long these side effects last and if there is any way to make them go away sooner. I am also having trouble sleeping now. I wish I knew this before taking this!!!

I was on levofloxacin (Levaquin) for my Bart, and I had to stop after six weeks when I developed pain in my left achilles heel. I was disappointed as my anxiety pretty much disappeared on it. Levaquin is known to cause tendon rupture, especially in the achilles tendons, even weeks or months after a person stops taking the drug.
They switched my ab to Levaquin 250 for 7 days. No change in the infection, still had diarrhea, joint pain and back pain. AB was switched to Levaquin 500 for 10 days and I honestly felt GREAT!! 3 - 4 days all symptoms came back so they put on Levaquin 250 again. I had to give a stool sample and get a colonscopy - which came back negative. The stool sample showed no bacteria so I stopped the Levaquin as tinging came back. I have gone down hill since.
I have had abdominal discomfort mainly on my left side (hip/admonin area) but occasionalLy on the right for the past 10 months. I checked w/ my primary care physician 9 months ago. They put me on 2 different antibiotics for about 12 weeks. Antibiotics didn't help. I then saw a Urologist 6 months ago and had a c-scan to check for kidney stones. No stones, but they did notice diverticulosis on the scan.
A failed total hip arthoplasty revision developed mrsa and caused hugh cysts in my leg and groin. After surgery and large open wounds, I was on vancomycin home IV for 8 wks but developed a rash. Now have finished 2 yrs on daily antibiotic (minocycline and levaquin). Was doing well but have very unsightly and widespread blackening of skin, which does not clear up I believe my darkened cataracts developed as my skin blackened, and that this blackening residue is possibly in all my organs.
I am pretty sure I just have a UTI but if for whatever I have an STD will the Levaquin that I am taking for my UTI cure chlamydia or gonorhea? I am taking 500mg for 6 days. Please help me.

On the 9th or 10th day of the Levaquin, I started to experience severe pain in both biceps, along the inside of my elbows. I also had less severe pain in my shoulders, forearms, and the bottom of my elbows (the tennis elbow region). I was doing a lot of rock climbing at the time, so I credited the rock climbing as the cause of the tendinitis, and resolved to take some time off.
