Avatar f tn I had an x-ray that shows a minor lateral patella tracking but my knee cap does not hurt. I have had this for a year, what can I do to fix this and go back to sport?
Avatar m tn I have been having knee troubles since mid november of last year. The pain came up about two weeks after basketball had started and it hasn't gotten much better or worse to this day. The pain comes when I jump, squat, lunge, etc. which causes playing basketkball very difficult. The pain is worst directly on my kneecap.
Avatar m tn The cartilage under your kneecap (patella) is a natural shock absorber. But it doesn't come with a lifetime guarantee. Overuse, injury or other factors may lead to a condition known as chondromalacia patella — a general term indicating damage to the cartilage under your kneecap. A more accurate term for chondromalacia patella is patellofemoral pain.
Avatar m tn I had sutures drilled through kneecap and the full rupture repair. Had a Cast on for 7 weeks and then a brace for about 3 months. Avatar n tn this condition often affects young, otherwise healthy athletes. Chondromalacia is due to an irritation of the undersurface of the kneecap. In some individuals, the kneecap tends to rub against one side of the knee joint, and the cartilage surface become irritated, and knee pain is the result. Allowing the inflammation of chondromalacia to settle is the first step of treatment.
Avatar m tn On the exercise tracker, are there any options for tracking neck exercises?
1652468 tn?1302900498 You have arthritis, your kneecap is not tracking right- it is 'drifting' towards the outside of your leg- and you have fluid in your joint.
Avatar f tn During the surgery, he did the lateral release, found a crack in her cartlidge and a blister under the kneecap from the kneecap rocking in and out all the time. He said her knees were like a 18-20 year olds. She had the surgery at 9:15 am and we were on our way home by 12:20 pm the same day. She had a nerve block so she couldn't feel the leg for about 2 days. We stopped at Cracker Barrel on the way home for lunch and she acted like she never even had surgery.
Avatar n tn As soon as she pushed the needle into my right hip, I got a really intense pain in my hip that radiated down to my right knee and my kneecap felt like it was going to explode. Now, I still have pain in my right hip when I move my leg and I'm worried that she did something wrong. Should I be worried? Is it possible that she damaged a nerve? Thanks!
Avatar m tn My left knee has bothered me off and on for over a year but now is a constant pain, worsening at night or longer periods slightly bent during the day. When the leg is straightened, instead of the "crease" showing the inner side of the kneecap, there is a HARD knot almost to the bottom, inside area of the kneecap. The entire knee swells at night, but not lots. Ice and / or heat packs do not take the "lump" down in size but help with the general swelling.
Avatar f tn Conservative treatment consisting of exercises and stretching can be performed. You should see an orthopedic suegeon and get an x-ray done to know the pathology.
483733 tn?1326798446 Please use your exercise tracker to track your exercises. The exercises in the Weight Tracker were introduced prior to the Exercise Tracker and only includes the most popular options. The Exercise Tracker is where you should be tracking that information. We've even thought of removing the exercises from the Weight Tracker at some point since in the future you'll be able to create reports that compare your Weight Tracker against your Exercise Tracker.
Avatar m tn Hi Thanks for writing to the forum! “In normal situations, the knee is a smoothly operating mechanism, like a door hinge swinging open and shut," explains Edward J. Resnick, M.D., professor of orthopedic surgery at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. "But if you put a jam in the door or an object in the hinge, that smooth movement may be obstructed or frozen in position.
Avatar f tn When I would kneel On my right knee it felt like there was glass under my kneecap. One day I decided to go ahead and Kneel hard on it and roll my kneecap around, enduring the pain. I envisioned that a Crystal had formed in my kneecap and it just needed to be crushed and then my body could absorb it. After that the pain vanished and never returned so my guess must’ve been correct.
Avatar f tn The patellar tendon is located between your kneecap and the tibia and the injury is an inflammation of the patellar tendon. During the episode of pain if you use crutches then it is important not to do any weight bearing on the affected knee. You can apply ice packs when your knee is painful, after physical activity as this reduces your pain and inflammation. Resting from aggravating activities such as running and jogging allows time for recovery and healing.
Avatar n tn This condition causes fluid accumulation in the bursa just on top of the kneecap. Usually the fluid can be felt on top of the kneecap, rather than underneath the kneecap. Physical examination by doctor is necessary, to determine what fluid it is and depending upon that whether to remove the fluid or use antibiotics can be decided. All the best.
Avatar f tn Months ago I tripped landing on my kneecap. I had a superficial laceration where I landed. Then a few weeks ago my knee began to hurt, localized tenderness, pain, Weakness in thigh/leg, numbness in certain areas of the kneecap and balance issues . Lesions appeared, I thought I somehow got glass in my knee but what I came across is a white bony Substance imbedded in my knee. What could that be?
Avatar m tn t have any insurance, but I went to a doctor anyway. He pulled on my leg a little and moved the kneecap around a bit and took an xray. He said there was nothing broken and that I probably bruised the tendon and gave me anti inflammatory meds. I wasn't given really any advice on what to do with it after the appointment for recovery and it just seemed like maybe they wanted me out of there. upon leaving they gave me a foam knee brace and sent me on my way.
Avatar n tn I am a runner and have recently noted that my right kneecap is getting "jellyer". When I google searched it some results for Prepatelar Bursitis came up, but the pictures seem to drastic and there is no kneeling or trauma going on. It is not such a huge inflamation, its just that one kneecap is certainly squishier than the other one and progressively getting more and more. I know running is causing it, but I don't understand what's behind it. Also: no pain.
Avatar f tn Yesterday I somehow dislocated (what I think it is) my kneecap. Immediately after I put it back in place but it still hurts today. It's not an unbearable pain considering that I can walk pretty normal but I can't put too much weight on it. It wasn't swollen yesterday but I have a feeling it's a bit swollen now. I'm planning on going to a doctor in the morning but an advice or a heads up of what can I expect would be very helpful.
Avatar m tn I have loss of feeling, post-operatively, from my replaced kneecap down to mid calf. I was told this may or may not go away. I have not been able to sleep or sit for more than 1 hr before intense pain forces me to massage around the knee, front and back. When this happens the knee feels like stone and I am unable to lift it without using my hands. It then takes me up to a minute before my knee will allow me to walk without feeling that the spongy feeling and pain will cause it to give out.
Avatar f tn There is a huge difference in swinging a kettlebell and performing a kettlebell swing! If you do these exercises right they are safe, effective, convenient and efficient.
