I like running but lately I can't because I have a sharp pain on the outside of my right knee. It is really frustrating because I had a knee scope down about 6 months ago and I kept going back and telling the doctor that I had the pain plus I have popping in that knee every since the surgery. I feel like he was not listening to me so i stopped going back. I am really tired of having to pay for 2 surgeries in order to get something done right.
Hi, I was trekking with some friends when half way through the trek I experienced Sharp pain on both legs near the knee. It's on the outer dude and back of knee. With each step its so severe that I cannot take a step with leg bent. It seems to be coming somewhere near the lcl or where the hamstring tendon attacks to lower foot, just behind and to the outer side of the knee. The first time I noticed this was 6 months ago on the treadmill.
Now when I'm on the go, I get severe pain in the knee joint area, that stretches from the top of my knee cap and extends down the outside of my knee, it feels like someone kicked me in the back of the leg, and my knee doesn't want to swing/move.
I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
I have been having problems with knee pain. The pain is in my right knee but only on the outside and towards the back of the knee. I do not recall any trauma/injury. I have done heat and ibuprofen but those dont seem to help alot. I have been experiencing this pain for a few weeks, with a short span where things seemed to be getting better. I am 29 years old and rheumatoid arthritis runs in my family. Any ideas of what could be going on? The side of my knee feels "tight".
every time i get it extended it sends sharp pain from the lower part of my knee up to my hip bone. I'm only 20 so the thought of knee replacement scares me half to death. I can't start my career in dance until my knee is back to normal.. i've tried icing it, stretching it, biofreeze you name it i've probably tried it. the only thing to give it a glimmer of relief is the knee brace i have to wear now.
The pain will come with walking, sometimes very quickly and sometimes not much at all. When the pain comes, I have a swelling on the outside of the knee joint about the size of half a golf ball. When I rest the swelling and pain go away within 10 or 20 minutes. This doesn't sound like arthritis to me. A two-fold question, would these symptoms be consistent with AO? Or do these symptoms sound more like damage to the meniscus? Also...
I damaged my medial ligaments(slight) 4 to 5 months ago felt fine after a couple of weeks but have just recently been experiencing a severe sharp pain mainly i would say towards the outside and in the back of my right knee but only when i bring my heal to my bum ( no pain at all until it nearly at it fullest ). Not really experienced any other pain ect on the odd occasion knee felt like giving way when fully locked out . I have no problem running gym ect .
He is concerned when he takes his braces off of a swelling/bump on the lower outside part of his knee cap. Coming down the stairs Saturday his knee gave way and he fell the last couple of steps down the stairs, this is worrying him. If I understand you correctly my husband knee could have arthritis in it and his x-ray and MRI would not show anything. Then how can they diagnose this condition? What questions should we ask the doctor? I look forward to your answers.
Pain on kneeling with a burning sensation afterwards is commonly seen in the inflammation of the bursa of the knee called bursitis. A bursa is a small sac of fluid. It cushions the outside of knee joint so that tendons and ligaments glide smoothly over the joint. Bursitis is often treated with rest, elevation, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). If this does not help then fluid is aspirated out. Another option is corticosteroid injections.
As the topic states, I get knee pain in the back of my knee when jumping off one leg while playing basketball. However, the back story should help explain things. About three years ago I rolled my ankle a number of times over the course of a couple of months. It was to the point where I favored it and just started jumping off my opposite, strong leg. This worked for the most part. However, I still managed to roll my weak ankle incidentally while playing from time to time.
Im 31 years old lost 50 lb back down to 130lb well i have been having this pain in my right knee on the outside of it. the pain feels like a sharp burning pain only when i put pressure on it.. I have lost weight and its still happening. its been like this for about two+ years. My knee clicks at time.. when i wake up in the morning its feels like there is water trapped around my knee cap and swollen alittle. then about 45 mins after i get up the water and swellening goes down.
Also you can feel pain on the outside of my knee as wll as on the back of my knee. I have also noticed that if I turn my foot to the left the pain almost brings tears to my eyes. I am a 27 year old female with NO previous problems.
My right knee was causing much pain on the outside area, and when I would walk it felt like my knee would try to slip out of joint. Like the outter area of my knee was pulling it out. I went and saw a specialist, they took an x-ray and didn't see any damage. He moved my leg around in every motion possible and said I more than likely tore my meniscus again on the outside and that is why it is giving out.
But recently I started having pain and stiffness in it when I run and do games. The pain is on the left knee outside. I think I made it worse this week by playing in the pool. Now it hurts walking up and down the stairs and I can't kneel on it. It also hurts when I squat down. I feel like I can't bend it as far back as my other leg. The knee is not tender to the touch. No swelling. I was wondering if this sounds like simple tendonitis or something more serious.
The pain comes when i am standing and bend my knee where my heel is touching the back of my leg and also when I bend over to touch my toes. There is also pain on the outside of my knee (to the touch) usually with moderate pressure that is located on the right side of my knee. I need some insight on what this might be, I have no insurance and looking for help/tips for treatment. Thank you for your time.
Why would the pain come and go as it does? I do notice a clicking if I twist the knee but not when I just move it back and forth. No pain on the inside or outside of the joint and have full extention and full squating with no discomfort. No swelling that I can tell. I know what a meniscus tear feels like, I had 2 in each knee and have had zero pain over the years except for this. I am 59 years young.
If I sit with my legs bent for longer than a few minutes it's very painful to straighten that knee again. The pain is always in the back on the knee and usually towards the outside. Could there be a tear that was missed. Do I need to get a second opinion? I'm a 36 year old female.
It has had extensive physical tests and on the third day in i hurt my knee. The pain was sharp and intense the day i hurt it on the outside of my knee. My knee never buckled or twisted or popped to indicate something bad happened. I was just walking up stairs after a short jog about 100m and my knee began to lock up and have intense pain that day. I fought through the pain that day and made it to the next day of training.
Getting up after a nights sleep it's fine. 7. Pain seems to be in back of knee and on left outside of knee. 8. Have noticed little swelling and bruising. Just a bit but nothing huge. I went to my chiro and he claims there is bone out of place below my knee that he readjusts. Its hard to know if it helps because when he adjusts it isn't hurting. I think there has to be more than that though because bending close to 45 degree is so painful. Any suggestions?
It also feels if I were to put all of my weight on it that it would give out. On the outside of the knee, there is visible fluid build-up. And when I flex the leg, you can hear the knee cracking. I went to see my family physician and he said it felt like the meniscus was torn, so he wanted me to get an MRI. When the MRI report came back it said there was fluid build-up in the acl compartment and the acl might be torn.
I think it would be a very good idea to get this checked out with your PCP or pain management doctor. I know my pain clinic also treats knee and limb pain. Perhaps the doctor will order a MRI of the knee. Whatever the case, I hope you are okay and recover quickly from this. I have injured my knee on the ice in the past, but it took me building up my muscles before it stopped causing me trouble. My knee would either lock up or give completely out. Good luck.
I was doing quite well until I had a heavy practice and the following day I woke up with a little stiffness and aching in the posterolateral section of my knee with full extension and full squat. The pain was mostly during deep squatting at the very bottom (please don't argue with me about deep squatting because I will prove you wrong with numerous research/peer-reviewed articles).
hi i have been getting really bad knee pain on my Right knee on the inside where the MCL is at but i had a MRI and it came back normal but that was about 3 months ago and i am still having the pain and now once an awhail it will lock and i fall cuz of it and my dortors wont do nothing about it i asked to see a ortho but they wont let me do you know or what it could be?
Mobility is excellent but I am still in a lot of pain. If I am on my feet during the day, I have increased pain and the knee is hot and slightly swollen. I was faithful to rehab and am now anxious to be more active. It's so discouraging.
then the pain went away for a while about 4 1/2 months and now its come back but this time on my left knee. i dont know if this has anything to do with my injury, it also could be my weight even though it shouldnt because im not too overweight just average. the pain feels like its my knee bones scraping together, its terrible, Any help, suggestions, etc.?? HELP PLEASEE!!!
I had total knee replacement surgery 10 weeks ago and am still experiencing significant knee pain, consisting of stiffness and alot of pain in the knee. The pain wakes me up at night. I am going to Physical Therapy 3 times a week and I still do alot of therapy myself at home. I walk, and try to go about my daily routine, but the pain is still there,, some days worse than others. I also had a three disc fusion done in January,, 2007.
The muscles above the knee is where it really hurts and somewhat to the outside and behind the knee. The doc called it a knee sprain, but because my knee feels stable i havent got an mri. My question is whether or not the injury sounds severe and how i can speed up recovery time.
