3987674 tn?1348933041 I posted about a month ago asking about hashimotos disease. I still don't know if that is my diagnosis or not. Last time my tpo antibodies were checked they were greater than 600. My free t4 was 1.6 and tsh 20. 2 months before that free t4 was 6.8 and tsh 16. On 125mcg eltroxin daily. Last weekend I was rushed into a&e with renal colic and drs suspect kidney stones although through xray they were unable to see any. Kidney function is very good and there was blood in my urine.
Avatar n tn Also, specifically, lemon juice appears to break down CaOx stones. I pass a kidney stone at least once a month, so I completely understand what you are going through. No doctor would expect a 9mm stone to pass on its own, its just too big. I personalyl wouldn't be that anxious to break it up though, because a 9mm stone can make quite a few smaller ones. Luckily, in some blessed individuals, stones can stay in the kidney painlessly for many years without causing any trouble at all.
Avatar n tn I have kidney stones. I was told that the kidney stones are a result of a high para thyoid level . and a low Vitamin D level. Has anyone ever gone through this ? It's all brand new information to me -- and I don't know what to think.
Avatar m tn Drink plenty of water! The following is for Kidney stones There are nutrients you need to add—and to limit. Vitamin A (not betacarotene) promotes healthy functioning of the urinary tract, so people who are deficient in it sometimes form kidney stones more easily than others. You’ll find vitamin A in most good general multiple vitamin and mineral supplements (which you and everyone to take even when you supplement with individual nutrients).
Avatar m tn Has anyone here with kidney stones tried vitamin B6 and magnesium to prevent new stones from forming? I read a study that concluded that taking 50 mg of B6 daily with 300 mg of magnesium oxide (one of the least absorbable forms of magnesium) will prevent future kidney stones. I also read that potassium and B6 does the same. Perhaps the magnesium works because potassium is better absorbed if there is sufficient magnesium.
Avatar f tn Hi and WELCOME to our Kidney Stone Community. I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.
541196 tn?1293552936 Is it possible to have my problem with Vitamin D be not completely caused by my thryroid? Maybe malabsorbtion or kidney problems? I have had two tests show I have protien in urine. I have flank pain periodically. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, high triglycerides and low HDL, and swelling of ankles and hands. I often have stomach aches with multiple loose stools a day...
Avatar f tn thus, do not take supplements of vitamin d nor eat alot of food containing vitamin d such as cheese, milk, eggs etc. nor excess sunbathing since sunshine produces vitamin d in your body. You're better off living with a vitamin d defeciency than taking supplements advised by your doctor. Also, do not take calcium carbonate mineral pills since it could contribute to kidney stones because kidney stones are actually pellets of calcium carbonate !!
Avatar m tn After being diagnosed with a kidney stones of 3mm more than a week ago, I still haven't passed it but I passed 7 other stones a little bit smaller. I keep them all. My right side of back, my abdomen and grion hurt still even with the pain meds prescribed to me. Why is it taking so long to pass?

168348 tn?1379357075 magnesium for the prevention of calcium oxalate kidney stones. I cannot take Urocit K because of terrible GI side effects, so my Urologist suggested this to help disuade them from forming. My calcium levels are normal. I have a condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) that predisposes me to producing calcium oxalate or calcium oxalate/phosphorous stones. I avoid all oxalate containing foods and don't take any extra calcium supplements or antacids containing calcium Thanks.
Avatar f tn Keep in mind that milk, and many other products also contain vitamin D. Too much vitamin D can cause kidney stones, which is almost as painful as having a baby. Otherwise... it's up to you...
Avatar n tn I have had a few kidney stones over the last few years and have been placed on a low oxalate diet. There's a lot of foods to try to remember to avoid and I wondered if people had some good tricks.
Avatar n tn has anyone else experienced a kidney infection/ stones during pregnancy ... what did u do for the pain .... all my doc told me was heat but my god is this miserable .. last time I passed a stone they dopped me up on pain meds which is obviously not an option this time ... please help me !! ...

Avatar f tn I am very hard to diagnose, I was told. I have been seeing an Endo for normal calcium levels, Very high PTH levels and very low Vitamin D. Sestamibi scans (2) show a type E or a Type C (right sided) parathyroid adenoma. I have been on periods of 50,000 Units of Vitamin D2 for weeks at a time (toxic side effects) and then off and retested. I cannot get the vitamin D higher than 26. My range is 6 to 26. PTH runs from 60 to 130. My ENDO and his collegue will not go out of the box....
Avatar f tn I suffered kidney stones for years until I found out I had an issue with my parathyroids that were creating too much calcium. Ask your doc to check your parathyroid hormone levels ( PHP).

Avatar f tn i am used to the pain and can deal with it, what scares me is the kidney pain. normally i dont get kidney pain with the stones. i had to have only one stone removed surgically, it was stuck in the lining of my urethra, total pain on that episode before and after! Does anyone have any knowledge on preventing calcium oxalate stones that i havent tried already? i cant take diuretics because of a sulfa allergy, the potassium citrate does nothing, and i have slowed down on tea and cheese.
