itchy nipples when breastfeeding

My nipples are killing me there soo itchy and when there not itchy they hurt like somebody's pinching them. Has anybody else had this happen what did u do? I'm thinking maybe nipple cream but is that just for breastfeeding?

Is it true that your nipples being so itchy is caused by pregnancy? Or just at a certain they still grow? And when does your boobs start to itch. Anyone? Help. Please.

Yes I've been itchy like crazy my boobs and nipples I have my husband help me not scratch but massage them I just wish I can scratch them off but I know it's worth it so I try not to think about it because the itchy gets worse

You can get lanolin cream for your nipples. It's used for breastfeeding and it was a lifesaver for me. You can find it in the baby section next to the breastfeeding products.

Yea it dsnt hurt when he's latched on its just super itchy. And what kind of cream? Like lotion?

Try lotion/cocoa butter. If it's your nipples try some lanolin (I like the lanosh brand) people use for when they're breastfeeding and their nipples are sore/cracked by I found it also soothes itchy nipples.

s like thick Vaseline. My nipples were very cracked and itchy and my OB told me to get that and continue using it once baby is here.

I loved breastfeeding my first and will for sure with my second. It did hurt in the beginning until my nipples toughened up a bit. But they toughened up fairly quickly. It's so worth it in the end to have that special bond. Or you can always try it and decide whether it's for you or not. No judgement should be given to any mommas about it. To each his own :) Oh the pain of breastfeeding is different than the pain during pregnancy.

i was on the pill for 7 years and then went off them back in march 08 never had any symptoms.. and then when i went off of the pill oh man my boobs would hurt.. nipples would itch all that stuff i was takin tests a million times a month cuz i swore i was pregnant.. but nope just period stuff .. if you have a regular flow period not lighter then normal or anything i'd say its just period symptoms.

To answer the question lanolin oil works it heals cracked , dry and sore nipples. If breast feeding it's safe for baby while it's applied and if your nipples are sore from breastfeeding it helps.

I'm 29 weeks and well my nipples get itchy very often so i use vicks to soothe the itch. I noticed dry small white stuff and googled around about it. Then i read something about if you squeeze your boobs milk might come out...lol tmi but i tried it and it worked i think its super cool. Im so excited to breastfeed.
