Common Questions and Answers about Hormone free dairy

Avatar f tn Lori, get an ultrasound to see if you have thyroid nodules. Those can leak and cause the weight loss. Low D will lead to osteoporosis if left untreated. When I finally got my D over the mark to a 42, my PTH went to its highest at 71, so my old endo was sure I had a parathyroid problem. My new doctor tells me that Hashi patients have poor conversion because many of us have leaky gut syndrome: http://www.leakygut.co.uk/ He says my D should be above 80, but current standards say above 35.
Avatar f tn s being tested, in relation to your thyroid? Your doctor should be ordering Free T4 and Free T3, as well, every time you have a TSH test. Free T4 and Free T3 are the actual thyroid hormones, whereas TSH is a pituitary hormone that should not be used as the sole basis for determining thyroid hormone status. How long have you had Hashimoto's? It's not unusual, in earlier stages of Hashimoto's to swing back and forth, from periods of hypo to hyper or normal.
Avatar n tn With fibro, headaches, and RA has anyone mentioned a gluten and dairy free diet? Gluten and dairy give me horrible migraines, also my sister has fibro and she felt so much better now that she is on a gluten and dairy free diet. (Also has anyone checked your thyroid especially your free T3 levels because they are learning that T3 resistance can cause fibro. (If you need meds you could get Armour that is just hormone and I do not think there is any additives.
Avatar m tn What is your actual Vitamin B12 level? Just because B12 is in the "normal" range doesn't mean it's "fine"... While the tingling sensation "can" be related to thyroid conditions, your FT4 is more than 50% of the range, which is higher than most of us find we needed it... I'd take a closer look at the vitamin B12 level. Too low levels of vitamin B12 can also cause tingling sensations in the feet, legs, hands and other parts of the body.
Avatar f tn DF GF have helped me significantly in a short amount of time. Avoiding foods like soy and any meats that can't guarantee to be hormone free have also helped. Tomatoes are one of my personal favorites, but the most important I've found I need to cut out. I'm sure everyone is different, but so far completely vegan/soy-free/gluten-free has helped the most.
Avatar f tn As far as intestinal fungal overgrowth goes, I know that milk feeds it as it turns to sugar and sugar feeds fungus correct, so maybe I am just still aggrivating things intestionily, (though it does not seem like it symptom wise), even with the preservative free, hormone free, vitamin/mineral/protein packed raw goats milk. It really does seem to be helping with her hunger spikes too! She seems more satisfied and "level".
Avatar n tn I'm curious as to whether or not the casein and gluten-free diet is one that needs to be adhered to for the entirety of a person's life who has autism and has found it to help? What happens if my son's autism improves because of this diet but he goes back to consuming casein and gluten some day? Will his autistic symptoms reappear or have they been cured?
Avatar n tn I agree with most of the above, except you should not fat out of your diet... it's not the enemy we've been taught it is. I've lost 20 lbs since I went back to full fat dairy and began adding other healthy fats, such as butter, coconut oil, avocados, olive oil, etc back into my diet. Fat must be eaten in moderation - no more 1 tablespoon per meal... You can also eat brown rice, which is a whole grain, in place of white rice.
Avatar f tn I hate to tell you that your doctor is wrong about the antibodies attacking your brain, or other parts of your body. Thyroid antibodies attack ONLY the thyroid; once they have "killed" the thyroid, they will go into remission; they will NOT move on to attack something else. Lupus is the autoimmune that will attack various parts of your body and apparently you don't have that. I also disagree that MOST people with Hashi's are gluten and dairy intolerant.
Avatar f tn My latest blood work from my Naturopath came back in range (i know that ranges are different for everyone)......Can not sticking to a gluten/dairy free diet cause these issues even though my hormones are in range. Any ideas? I remember when I was 11 years old, I went to the doc because i woke up with my face all puffy and ended up with a weepy/itchy rash on my entire face.
Avatar f tn ve had multiple autoimmune lab workups and hormone level testing. All are normal. Currently mostly gluten free all dairy free (for 6+ mos) and eating very little citrus. Also taking lots of vitamins: D (level is low), b complex, iron slow release (ferritin is low), zinc, slow release mag (due to chronic head/neck pain) and 1g of fish oil. Scalp biopsy was inconclusive for anything. What am I missing?
Avatar f tn I see, I didn't realize that TSH could fluctuate within the day like that. Very interesting. How is secondary hypothyroidism determined then? Besides a less than optimal fT3 & fT4? Since hypothetically if the thyroid is "working fine" and the problem is in the pituitary/hypothalamus axis, I'm assuming that there must be some other set of blood tests?
Avatar f tn I have NEVER had an issue with dairy products. However through my pregnancy I feel as though I'm almost developing a mild intolerance to it. It wasnt bad in the beginning, but now at 37 weeks any time I take in dairy it upsets my stomach. Kinda makes me afraid that my little one may also have an allergy to dairy then since I plan to breast feed. Any one else ever encounter this??
Avatar f tn For more thorough testing, you may want to ask if you could have free T3 and T4 levels tested as well as thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Regarding the dairy products, have you made the switch to lactaid milk to see if that was helpful? Have you tried rice milk? This is what I drink (vanilla rice dream), because milk gives me bad acid reflux, and soy milk gives me headache, plus I have interstitial cystitis.
Avatar f tn Thanks Angela I will take the Behaviour Analyst information into account and am meeting with one next week. Reilly started his dairy free diet today - but given the information you have given me, I am now cautious with the long term affects and would love to know which study you are referring to so that I may read it as well. Do you think you could find out for me please? Thank you kindly for your input I am verry appreciative of your feedback.
Avatar f tn I felt better for a couple of months, but about 3 months after I started Armour, I started gaining weight like crazy. I eat a very clean diet (gluten free, dairy free, sugar and alcohol free) of mostly veggies, fruits, and meat with some occasional gf grains. I started generally feeling puffy and my face puffed up. I've also been ridiculously bloated no matter what I eat and whether I eat. In January, my Armour was upped to 30 mg, then in March, to 45 mg, and recently, to 60 mg.
Avatar f tn When thyroid hormone is bound to TBG, it is inactive and unavailable to the tissues. When TBG levels are high, levels of unbound (free) thyroid hormone will be low, leading to hypothyroid symptoms. With this pattern, TSH and T4 will be normal. If tested, T3 will be low, and T3 uptake and TBG will be high. Elevated TBG is caused by high estrogen levels, which are often often associated with birth control pills or estrogen replacement (i.e. Premarin or estrogen creams).
Avatar f tn ve been gluten and dairy free for a year now and I still have severe brain fog, pressure behind my forehead, hypo/adrenal symptoms. I think I need a new doctor.
557907 tn?1215882569 I have Celiac disease [need to eliminate all gluten from wheat, rye, barley and oats] and I am very dairy intolerant -- to the point that I have to keep any dairy products from all foods and medication (lactose in meds is a problem). I have been using soy milk, absolutely love soy yogurt, and enjoy tofu to fill-in for all the dairy foods I can not have. Boooo! No more Purely Decadant Soy Ice Cream. Yumm! This is pure torture!!!!
Avatar n tn I see you've had TSH and Free T4 tests, but have you ever had a Free T3 test done? Free T3 is the hormone that's used by individual cells in our body, while Free T4 is a storage hormone and isn't used directly; it must be converted to Free T3. It's possible that your body isn't converting it adequately which is keeping you in a hypothyroid state. Also, have you ever been tested for Hashimoto's? Hashimoto's is the # 1 cause of hypothyroidism.
7729616 tn?1393795492 s in January this year and an alternative nutritionist diagnosed me with dairy intolerance. She recommended I drink rice milk, almond milk and lactose-free milk to relieve my symptoms. However, I have since been under the impression that it could be a dairy allergy rather than intolerance as I still get digestive upset when drinking the lactose-free milk and it's a very sudden reaction, which occurs within 20-30 minutes.
Avatar f tn Have you asked your doctor to order a Free T3, along with the Free T4? Free T3 is the hormone that is converted from Free T4 and used by the individual cells. It's the most important and correlates best with symptoms. Do you still have symptoms of hypothyroidism? As far as the antibody counts, those indicate that you have Hashimoto's, which is the number 1 cause of hypothyroidism in the developed world.
1963845 tn?1376030809 Eat lean meat, chicken, eggs, fish (hormone-free if possible). Avoid dairy if it upsets your digestion (gas, diarrhea). If you still have those symptoms after stopping dairy, get checked for Celiac disease, which can stunt growth by not allowing nutrient absorption). Eat your vegetables. Exercise, including weight training to keep your testosterone up. Pay attention to posture. Sitting tends to make people hunch over, and it looks terrible and doesn't optimize height.
Avatar n tn I also went gluten free, dairy free and try to eat as much organic foods as I can. There are foods that cause inflammation like corn. Google anti-inflammatory foods. Stay away from white potatoes and anything that has tomatoe in them or spicy foods. You may want to ask your primary to test for auto-immune antibodies. Mine came back positive for a couple things. If I were you, I would request a blood test of foods that you may be allergic or sensitive to.
