Avatar m tn Adrenaline is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands during high stress or exciting situations. This powerful hormone is part of the human body's acute stress response system, also called the "fight or flight" response. It works by stimulating the heart rate, contracting blood vessels, and dilating air passages, all of which work to increase blood flow to the muscles and oxygen to the lungs.

Avatar f tn Well, to start I was always healthy and in shape. When I was pregnant I ended up with Severe-preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. Ever since then I have been in horrible health. I have gained over 100 lbs since 2006 despite good diet and exercise, and I just feel horrible everyday. It took 13 doctors to get one to finally check my hormones, the others just treated me bad and told me to diet and exercise. I now have pages and pages of abnormal lab work but noone can tell me exactly what is wrong.

Avatar m tn In some cases hormone failure actually is to blame for sexual difficulties. And one of the more critical examples is testosterone, the “male hormone.” It is produced in the testes and adrenal gland by way of a complex metabolic process that involves the breakdown of cholesterol A hormone called DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), which is broken down into testosterone and estrogen. DHEA has properties of its own that benefit both men and women.
Avatar f tn Pink dye tests, like First Response as kitkat1306 said, are typically very accurate and can detect lower levels of HCG(pregnancy hormone) in your system. Take the home pregnancy test first thing in the morning as your urine would be more concentrated. You are young, so your periods still may be off and trying to regulate themselves.

Therefore anyone can use just two brain cells and determine why it is therefore so important to test for the Free T3 hormone. Yet many Dr's and the medical industry as a whole apparently has not come to this same common sense conclusion!
Avatar n tn They can sometimes be due to drug ingestion (testosterone, anabolic steroids as examples), endocrine/hormone abnormalities, or a varicose vein called a varicocele. 1310633 tn?1430224091 There are more men on corporate boards named John, Robert, William or James than there are women on boards altogether. The bias is also covert: When students rate their favorite professors, they describe the men as "geniuses" and the women as "nice." The bias is real, yet so many of us are blind to it. Hillary Clinton might not be the perfect candidate, but the fact that she is a woman will make her road to the White House a much steeper climb.
