Avatar f tn For instance, occluded vessels can interrupt a good flow of oxygenated blood and the heart cells functionality is compromised and heart wall movement is impaired, and occluded vessels will cause pain almost anywhere on the upper torso. But deep breathing that causes pain is usually not related to the heart. But there could be concomitant issues with a heart issue. Pain has so many causes that is difficult to have any decisive answer without tests.
Avatar n tn Wat is the side effects when the storvas 80mg, stanlip used life long.
Avatar f tn There are many causes for heart disease. There is a hereditary component, but many risk factors can be managed to reduce the risk such as proper diet, exercise, not smoking, moderate lifestyle, etc. What may be an issue with you as related to a heart risk could be your response to stressful situations that cause anxiety, etc. You are seeing a doctor and being treated so that may bode well for a reduction of any associated heart risk. Thanks for sharing, and take care.
Avatar n tn I agree with ed34, talk to your doctor. I had a history of stents, CAD, and heart attacks, but after a long absence from symptoms I let my Cardiologist know I was sick of the bruising and wanted to go off Plavix. Shortly afterwards, I developed shortness of breath, angina, etc., and soon developed problems which led to bypass surgery ten days ago. Be careful. I'm back on Plavix. Once again, I've been hoisted on my own Pilchard.
Avatar n tn t reach that level through fatigue or discomfort, they resort to an injection which stresses the heart. If you have heart disease, it suddenly feels like someone is sitting on your chest and breathing is very hard. This lasts for about 2 mins tops. They then take the patient to the scan room where they have to lay on their back, keeping still, for about 30 mins. Slowly you watch the machine go around the front of the chest as it takes images.
Avatar n tn I walk for about 200 yards and my heart palpitation goes very high. The doctor gave me nicoget. but it does not help. what is the right medicine.
Avatar n tn There are some people born with heart disease, called congenital heart disease. The acquired form most commonly found in women is secondary to obstructive coronary atherosclerosis, and can develop in young women, especially if they have other risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, smoke or have a strong family history of heart disease.
Avatar f tn My source indicates normal values are usually between 60 and 400 IU/L and is a marker for a heart attack, muscle breakdown, etc. Elevation of CK is an indication of damage to muscle (skeletal, cardiac, etc.) and your question is not specific for the type of CK that is elevated. Thanks for the quesion, and if you have any questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar n tn The embolus blocks the flow of blood in small vessels and causes thrombosis, ischemia, infarction, or stasis in the affected area/organ and then systemically, resulting in multiple organ failure and disseminated intravascular coagulation.
Avatar f tn It can be due to heart muscle disease, alcohol, drugs medication, and the heart can enlarge due extreme physical activity (athlete's heart) over a period of time.. Athlete's heart is not a pathologcal condition, and will return to normal size when the activity is reduced or stopped. Q: "Are there any signs or symptoms of this condition?" Shortness of breath, easily fatigued, chest pain (angina)...Dizziness, Abnormal heart rhythm, cough, swelling (edema), Cough.
Avatar n tn Physical Signs of Heart Disease Swelling of Your Feet and Lower Legs Retention of fluid in the feet and legs is known as peripheral edema. Edema may appear as "sock marks" at the end of the day. Mild peripheral edema is common. Your doctor may check for this sign by pressing a finger against your ankle or shin bone to see if a depression is left behind. This is called "pitting edema.
1074924 tn?1257461550 there are also risks involving sudden death) You need to be followed by a cardiologist that understands and deals with HCM and a specialist OB/GYN who is willing to take you on as a patient (good luck in finding one of those!) Pregnancy makes the heart work much harder which is not good in a hypertrophied heart. You may find yourself on bedrest for the entire pregnancy and you risk heart failure in yourself. You are very young to be considering pregnancy while trying to deal with this disease.
Avatar n tn Thanks everybody. I appreciate the input. I have seen a doctor who didn't seem too concerned. She did an ekg and said it was normal. I have a stress test scheduled. I do not have diabetes and the onlyheart related family history is my dad takes a medication for an irregular heartbeat.
5948831 tn?1377198400 When I get up, then hold my head up, I become dizzy and feel sensations in my heart. Just had a blood test which revealed elevated levels of calcium. I am 74 years old, had a heart by pass operration in 1993. I have not drank alcohold or smoked for 30 years. I do drink coffee and caffeine free diet cokes. Could I be experiencing tachycardia?
21064 tn?1309308733 Has anyone noticed a correlation between heart disease and thyroid disorders? Can yout tell us anything about the co-existence of heart and thyroid problems? Does one tend to precede the other? There is a great discussion going on over in the Thyroid forum and I thought it might be helpful to find out what our members know about this topic. Thanks!!
Avatar m tn Iam taking astrix for Lone AF as only get flutter sometimes with the occassional longer symptom, my Dr wants me to start Flecanide but I am not to keen to start what with its side affects etc. What are my chances if I dont take it and just keep on astrix and put up with the symptoms of AF SOMETIMES. am I being to risky of stroke etc, its just dont like taking these heavy medications really.
Avatar f tn My problems started with 2 AF episodes and I have extra beats especially when walking uphill or exercising which causes fatigue and breathlessness. I have a very slow heart rate, less than 60 due to thyroid & meds (I think) so when i walk up a small incline or carry something heavy, I get weired beats and breathless very easy. I am on anti coagulants but can't have beta blockers due to blood pressure and asthma.
Avatar n tn ) If you have an ischemic (lack of blood flow through vessels) heart condition, the arteries almost always are narrowed and/or hardened and this restriction and lack of flexibilty will increase the systolic (upper number) pressure. Other heart conditions such as pericarditis, valve insufficiency, enlarged heart, etc. can cause heart related symptoms you experienced due to reduced cardiac output and bp and arteries can be normal.
Avatar n tn He has added a betablocker and yet he still continues to have intermittent chest pain with walking on both level and up hills, and with a cold wind.He has lost 17 pounds since Dec.17th and is eating a plant based diet. His LDL is 1.5(Canadian value). We are suspecting that this is due to the stent itself. He is on Plavix for 1 year.
Avatar n tn I am currently wearing braces and my orthodontist said that I will have to get a wisdom teeth extraction surgery. Ive heard that people with heart disease and who are undergoing dental prosedures are at higher risk for developing endocarditis...Is that true? If so, should I tell my cardiologist? HWat prevaentive steps should I take?
Avatar f tn To provide a perspective, if your fitness level is good your recovery rate after your work and hot environment should be below 100 within 2 minutes at rest and away from the heat. A slow reduction in the heart rate after exercise is beneficial to the heart. However, if the heart rate has not dropped by more than 12 bpm one minute after stopping exercise this may indicate health issue.
Avatar f tn Welcome...What I have found with Heart Disease, is it takes a while to get the medications adjusted just right......I personally would try just a combination of Enapril AND Lasix...The lasix are very important for fluid accumulation which causes the shortness of breath... I also agree LMB, If you haven't done this already, try some homecooked dishes or high quality canned food.....It is much more appealing..... I wish you luck....

Avatar m tn I am going to undergo a Heart Cath tomorrow and possible stenting to try to increase blood flow to my heart. Hope it is not more than a proverbial 'crap shoot'. This discussion is related to Low EF and MR.
Avatar m tn Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a progressive muscle disease of the heart and there is no cure for any muscle disease. There are drugs that you can take to help relax the heart muscle so that it will allow the heart chambers to fill better. A Myoectomy surgery can also be done if there is an obstuction to the outflow tracts (HOCM). There is nothing you can do to slow down or reverse this disease.
