glucose

Avatar n tn Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms. Ive heard different opinions on the urine test though, I have been told that its no good by one or two people but then afew others have said its fine for an intial check. Ive had a urine test and it was ok so Im just curious, as it was clear is that it? am I clear for diabetes? thanks.
Avatar n tn This is important to know as the two most common glucose test results are identified as mg/dl [American] and mmol/l [European] and differ in meaning from each other. As such, we cannot tell if the glucose level of 16 was prandial [before a meal] or postprandia] [after a meal] so I'll present both sides as prandial. Glucose of 16 mg/dl: This is dangerously low as it could put your husband into coma.
Avatar f tn Is a blood glucose level of 6.3 half an hour or so after eating and a blood pressure of 139/82 / heart rate 99 with white coat syndrome good?
Avatar n tn I was unconcerned about the chances of HIV until I was told about fake condoms being used in some areas. I had a test at an NHS gum clinic at just over 6 weeks after which came back negative. I am unsure however if I need further testing as I dont know what type of test was used. Can I take this result at conclusive? What is the standard NHS test used?
Avatar m tn In regards to testing your sugar levels, have you had the 4 or 6 hours glucose test, (the 6 hour is more accurate) that is where you drink this really sweet drink called "glucola" and then they start testing your blood levels. They take one right before you drink, that is the fasting reading, then one a half hour after you drink the stuff, then another after another half hour, then hourly after that. Mine was pure H---.
Avatar m tn Hi, im 33 year old man, i just had comprehensive blood tests private, as my nhs doctor wouldnt help Vit D = 26, Normal range = 75 to 200 Vit Folate = 3.8, normal range 4.6 - 18.7 Vit B12 = 285, Norm range = 191- 946 Although norm! i think low, still only 90 off low in wide range! Creatinine level of 114, abnormal is above 110 Whit blood cell = 4.3, Norm range 4 - 11 Fasting glucose 5, Norm is above 6.2 TSH = 2 Free t4 = 25.
Avatar f tn wow, well you learn something new everyday, i was totally unaware there was a test to check levels of Serotonin. I thought it was one of those things the doc's couldn't measure. Is this test on the NHS in England by any chance?
Avatar f tn Has anyone else failed their glucose test? I have PCOS and I failed the first test and they told me I didnt have to take the 3 hour test since I'm already taking metformin. They just diagnosed me with gestational diabetes. Has anyone else had this problem?
Avatar n tn In Jan 2000 I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. My A1C was 9.1 and fasting glucose was 375. I was sedantary, very over weight and had very poor dietary habits. My diabetes doctor told me that there were three factors that I needed to consider in controlling my glucose levels. 1. Intake--food and fluids 2. Exercise 3. Medicines--oral or injected as the situation warrants I have been on oral medications for over 8 years.
Avatar f tn Because if your glucose is too on the screening test you will need to take the full glucose tolerance test (diagnostic test). Which is a pain. I failed my 1 hour test (1 point too high) so had to do the full three hour test. For this you do have to fast for at least 8-10 hours before the test. You have to drink twice as much sugar water (100 gm). And you have to wait there while they take multiple blood samples in that ttime.
Avatar f tn So I have my glucose test in the morning. I'm sure I was told I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything from now until the test in the morning, does anyone know if this includes water?
Avatar f tn My doctors and the people at the glucose office only recommended me to drink water before the glucose test and I passed.
Avatar m tn I plan to take a HIV test, but the stuff in NHS G.U.M clinic told me that the test result should be known two weeks after test; so I want to seek another similar organization that could also provide HIV test besides NHS,but can give the result faster than NHS, do any British friends know about "Better2know"??? Is it qualified to offer HIV test as a private clinic? Is it authoried by UK government?
Avatar n tn Hi all!! 35 weeks tomorrow!!In London they do not do this test! NHS policy, is it something to worry about? what do you think? Thank you!!!
Avatar f tn Hi all. Please help. I took a HIV test in Dec 2015 at a NHS walk in service in the UK. Was negative. However just reading that there are different types and strains of HIV. Now concerned my test did not test for all possible strains. I have no idea what type of test was taken, only that my blood was taken from my arm and sent off. Really worried about the possibility I was not tested for all strains. Please advise. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I took my glucose test yesterday and it was the 1 hour one and my levels were elevated apparently. So now I have to go back and take the 3 hour one on Monday. Has anybody had experience with this where they failed the 1 hour and passed the 3 hour? I'm worried and just want to pass it.
11195379 tn?1427921527 How many of you failed the 1hour glucose test but passed the 3hour test? I had 162 and the highest you can get is 139. So my sugar was high. I tried doing the 3hour test today and puked so I have to do it again.
Avatar f tn t even heard of it until this pregnancy! I read on the nhs website that they only test/treat women at risk. Have any UK ladies been tested? I'm scared as keep reading stuff about it!!
Avatar f tn I would do a blood glucose test ... The glucose test they administer to pregnant women is dangerous ... I took my test via blood and they got a clear result I'll send a link here exposing the horrible glucola drink ... http://foodbabe.
