Flomax side effects men

Common Questions and Answers about Flomax side effects men

flomax

Avatar m tn Most likely neither one is possible for me. If the drugs help with urination, I would remain on them and gladly take the side effects of sexual dysfunction. Currently I will have to decide whether I will remain with the suprapubic catheter or will have a surgery to alter the flow of urine. This would mean closing the urethra to the penis and having a dry stoma created on the abdominal wall that I can self cath again.
Avatar m tn Dizziness, unusual weakness, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, or runny nose, fainting, vision changes, sexual problems (difficulty ejaculating, decreased interest in sex), fast heartbeat etc are the usual side effects of flomax. But they can rarely develop after such a prolonged use. Consult a urologist for further help. Best.
Avatar f tn Needless to say, I found this to be disconcerting, and discovered (through onling research) that a decrease in semen production was a common side effect of Flomax. But, I kept on using this combination hoping things would improve with the semen. Needless to say, after approximately 3 weeks, I had the same experience, but this time followed by pain in my lower abdomen (during the end of orgasm sensations).
Avatar m tn I have taken Flomax for a week, and am very weary of the side effects. It effects my vision - I can feel it in my eyes. It dulls my brain, I can feel it in my head. It caused the ringing in my ears to get worse. I've had minor chest pain for a few days. All of these are on the list of side effects.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hello, Every drug has its own side effects and Flomax (tamsulosin) is no exception. However it has been reported that treatment with FLOMAX capsules for up to 12 months had no significant effect on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and does not effect prostate. It effect the vision and may cause blurred vision but that is found in only 0.2- 2% of the patients.
Avatar m tn Well the Prostatitis recurred and coens and goes… I heard about the belt… reluctant to do the flomax hence the side effects…. It really does sucks….
Avatar m tn It would be unusual though to have this production reduced down to zero unless the man was ejaculating very often. In general terms Flomax is a useful medication with very few side-effects..
Avatar n tn Are you taking Flomax for prostate issues? Flomax works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which leads to improved flow of urine and fewer symptoms of BPH. It indeed can have side effects like you describe. https://www.healthline.com/health/enlarged-prostate/flomax-side-effects#side-effects It's a relatively low percentage of patients, less than 4% that have these types of side effects but none the less, that could be going on for you.
Avatar m tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Prostatitis is usually not a side effect of use of flomax, indeed it can happen due to BPH, for which flomax is used as treatment. It would be better to get prostrate examination done by a urologist and take opinion for surgery for resolving these symptoms. Choice of antibiotics depends upon the kind of organism affecting the prostrate. Best.
Avatar n tn Age 64, with flomax I experience no pleasure with my orgasms. Is this because of the retrograd ejac. or is it a side effect of the medication? I may need to have surgery to improve my urinary flow, but retrograde ejac is a common outcome of these surgeries, and I need to know if I am at risk for losing my orgasm pleasure . I do see an occasional posting of men who have lost their pleasure after these surgeries, with no recourse.
Avatar m tn I have SEVERE lower back pain(Continually) my doctor gave me Cipro (Antibiotic) thinking perhaps I had an infection, I've finally taken all the antibiotic, however the lower back pain still present. Are there other proven symptoms I may have that I am not aware of, doesn't hurt when I urinate, however I don't always empty my bladder, I take Flomax(without Flomax I probably wouldn't even be able to go to the bathroom. Anyone experience this. Thank You.
Avatar f tn Ultimately, flomax and drugs like uroxatral can be combined to give maximal medical therapy for BPH. Sometimes men continue to have problems and may be candidates for surgical intervention to improve symptoms. Frequently, larger prostates can elevate PSA and lead to biopsy. While there is the possibility that your biopsy will yield cancer, it is likely that the increase in PSA is due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Avatar m tn My urologist prescribed Ditropan, which I took for about a year, which helped at first. Flomax was added the following year, which again worked for awhile, but the symptoms returned after 6 months or so. The Flomax caused retrograde ejaculation, which bothered me because in the past, I had always shot a fairly substantial load when I ***.
Avatar m tn I saw a Urologist and he gave me flomax, but I had to stop it because I was have bad side effects from it. The flomax was before the drippy ejaculation problem started.
Avatar n tn , where normal for him means slow urination due to long standing BHP, but not as slow, painful, and dribbling as with Flomax. We are just guessing that the way Flomax works by relaxing muscles is causing these effects. (Could the enlarged prostate end up pressing even more on muscles?? I realize these are just guesses: I have looked at a lot of medical sites, but this does not look like to be listed as a side effect!
Avatar n tn s from the Flomax my husband takes and that it will take longer for his vision to clear.(the Dr. was aware of the flomax before surg.) What has been your experience with this troublesome outcome? My husband is very discouraged.
Avatar m tn Stopping the Flomax at this stage really doesn't help. The effects on the iris are basically permanant by now. I would concentrate on finding the best cataract surgeon on your plan and make sure he or she has done dozens and dozens of Flomax cases and is very comortable with the management. Dr. David Chang in Los Altos, CA has written extensively on the best techniques to manage such cases.
Avatar n tn I've taken flomax for several years, and want to undergo cataract surgery. What should I expect? This discussion is related to Cataract surgery and Flomax.
Avatar m tn That is a side effect of the flomax... what is happening is that the semen is being released into your bladder. The flomax is designed to relax the urinary sphincter muscle so the semen, when you ejaculate, takes the path of least resistance- which is into your bladder... it's a weird concept but that is what is happening.
Avatar m tn The urge frequency was sometimes unbearable!! Anyhow started on Flomax, and in just one day noticed the frequency (6-8x day to 4x) and urgency diminished. If no BPH...how is the Flomax working??? Thanks!
Avatar m tn This has had the opposite effect by making me need to urinate more than before the Dextrol. Has anyone seen/had these side effects? I have another appt with urologist in 9 days. Just looking to see if this is expected or out of the ordinary. Thanks for any help and/or suggestions.
Avatar m tn In Sept of 08 I recieved unprotected oral sex from a female in October I was having trerrible pain in my lower back and below my scrotum and left side of my penis. I went to the ER and they tested for Chlymidia and Gonorhea only, I test negative for both. After seeing my regular doctor he diagnosied me with prostatitus and I went on 5 weeks of Levaquin 500. The pain subsided but I noticed my urine flow was bad and I dripped a bit after I pee'd, I couldnt clear my bladder.
Avatar m tn Whatever you do, just be careful of the levaquin...the side effects can be very dangerous. From what ive heard, the fda has some sort of black label warning on this drug, the most severe warning a drug can have...next is to pull it off the shelf. I was on Levaquin for 5 days and have experienced much of the same side effects of others.
Avatar n tn But the insomnia was miserable so I called my doctor to ask if there was anything I could do for the side effects, so he switched me to 3 wks of doxycycline, which I started taking immediately. Now I sleep OK but after two days the symptoms are back in full force. I'm wondering if I made a mistake in switching. Have others had similar experiences? Is doxy just slower to take effect?
Avatar m tn I am a 25 year old male. My symptoms are as follows: (1) Cloudy urine; (2) Frequent feeling of urgency; (3) Occasional burning on urination and ejaculation; (4) Weak urine flow. I am very frustrated, as I have seen two urologists (one for about a year) and neither have made any significant headway. First they hypothesized that I had a prostate infection and put me on all kinds of antibiotics -- to no avail.
