Avatar n tn I have a bulging L5 - S1 that has been causing problems for just over a year now. I've had 4 epidurals, and have been taking pain pills daily. About 6 month ago I started getting really bad upper back spasms, I had an MRI, CT Scan, and Ultra Sound that all came back clear. I got another epidural about a month ago and the back spasms went away (they are starting to come back as the epidural is wearing off).

Avatar n tn In cerebral palsy, the adductor muscles sometimes tighten up and some have surgery to cut them. Swimming is a non-surgical option that helps flexibility.
214105 tn?1265935159 The doctors said that the bones are pretty well aligned so non-surgical treatment is definitely an option but that surgery would speed the recovery and ensure correct healing. In reading about it, it seems that non-surgical treatment results in about a 9degree deformity. My question is what are the ramifications of that deformity? Does your arm look bent? Do you lose flexibility or range of motion?
Avatar f tn I have a friend who is a physical therapist and said the key is following through with the knee exercises daily the first year and as needed weekly from then on but remember to ice pack the knee following exercise. I am still unable to work at a job that requires walking or standing. I was a real estate agent and had to quit after 11 years. I am worried that is may have come loose.
Avatar f tn It would be best to speak to a child psychiatrist who is knowledgable in the field. Cognitive behavioral therapy is one effective option in addition to medication.
968857 tn?1247600450 Yoga will help you build core strength and improve your flexibility (and can really make you sweat!), whereas plyometrics is a bit higher impact, and involves taking steps, doing lunges, and even jumping around. Both are a lot of fun and are available in exercise DVD's that you can find online. Take care!
Avatar n tn It took me a long time to make that decision for myself and you may not be ready to take that step yet. Just know that in the future, if you want real flexibility and relatively easy diabetes maintenance, the pump is a great tool. In the meantime, a very long acting insulin with regular insulin at meals and some blood testing to keep you on track can give you excellent control and a pretty flexible lifestyle. For me, those were the keys to living a long healthy and happy life with diabetes.
1609697 tn?1301069399 s just no way to live. Taking the paycut seems like the best option for you. Is there any option to transfer to a different location where maybe management would be hopefully more understanding. Check out this link from MSNBC that talks about this specific issue. You may find it helpful http://www.msnbc.msn.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar m tn Usually the main predictors of aortic dissection are family history, aortic size, and aortic flexibility. For someone of your aortic size, I would take it easy. Try the ARB approach with a max or ultra-max high dosage (as long as your doctor lets you) and see if that reduces aortic size and aortic flexibility (the "pulse pressure" is one way to estimate the flexibility - Google it). If so, then perhaps you can talk to your doctor about athletics.
Avatar f tn I have searched the Internet for another treatment-although I knew surgery is my only real option-this site has helped me make a decision that I should wait until I have at least 6 wks of sick time to take off. My condition is very uncomfortable but liveable. Thanks so much.
Avatar f tn Over the last week the movement has even been visible while I am laying down. This would all be awesome, if it is real; the problem is that I am still having periods, although irregular, and I took a hpt and it came up negative. Is it possible that my mind is playing a cruel joke with my body? Or could this be our miracle? We pray everyday that we will be blessed with a 'mistake' of our own.

Avatar f tn Stretching isn't the best way to improve flexibility—lifting weights through a full range of motion is, according to a recent study at the University of North Dakota. Pausing for 2 to 3 seconds at the "down" position of the lift (where you feel the stretch) without relaxing your muscles is even more effective.
Avatar m tn And if you have flexibility in your job with sick time and FMLA as an option also, You just may be able to swing it. Side effects hit everyone differently. Personally, I couldnt do it, but I am almost 50 years old with other physical problems and I dont handle stress well at all. Stress can take a big toll on your body especially if you are trying to heal it. So Rest is important too !
Avatar f tn Switching to a low/no impact exercise such as swimming, elliptical or ski machine might be a good option, (swimming would probably be the best if available). Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I'm glad to hear that the baby is healthy. Are you going to keep the baby? If you don't feel ready or for any other reason, you can look into adoption. It's a great option to think about and look into, as it benefits everyone involved. Are you working right now? If you are not, then you need to look for a job asap to support yourself and your baby. You can't rely on your parents or the baby's dad to make it all work. Is the father still involved? Are you going to school?
7970489 tn?1395885877 I have been having a multitude of symptoms for the past 4 moths with no real answer of relief/cure.It started with heart palps in the middle of the night. I had a holter monitor, echo cardiogram, EKGs, blood test's, and X Ray. All came back normal and i was diagnosed with Anxiety which led me to have panic attacks in my sleep, no fun. So i took that diagnosis and ran with it. It has since stopped racing and is fine.
700000 tn?1231287536 t lose any strength in the arm but did lose ALOT of flexibility. I still was able to go on to play college Division 1A football as a defensive end for another 5 years. The only problem I have is that it is kind of a bummer in that without the flexibility in my wrist, some of my basketball and martial arts activities that I participate in currently are limited. I still live a normal life as an engineer and go to the gym 5 - 6 times per week and never feel any pain except on REALLY cold days.
510018 tn?1210966173 Rehabilitation typically includes exercises to help correct your posture, strengthen the muscles supporting your back and improve your flexibility. Your doctor will have you start physical therapy, exercise or both as early as possible. It's the cornerstone of your treatment program and should become part of your permanent routine at home. Prescription drugs. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe an anti-inflammatory medication along with a muscle relaxant.
Avatar m tn I am very active and cycle about 5 hours a week and about 5 hours a week of more weight bearing exercise. I have not been able to regain full flexibility to the knee, I am lacking 10 degrees of motion. I ice my knee most every day after exercising. I completed a series of 3 shots of Euflexxa about 6 weeks ago and have felt no difference from that. I started physical therapy twice a week for the last three weeks which lasts about 1.
