Common Questions and Answers about Flexibility joints

flexibility

Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar m tn they seemed to focus on my allergy and overlooked my joints problem. This joints issue still puzzles me; 1 of the doctors suspected Cubital tunnel syndrome in my left hand. Note: - no pain even when my MCP joints "switch" - i've seen trigger finger videos; it's not like that at all: the feeling is only in my MCP, not PIP nor DIP.
184674 tn?1360860493 Just like it sounds, relaxin relaxes the joints and muscles in your body to help your pelvis expand and loosens the joints in your hips to make room for baby to come out. It'll also help you do a wicked downward facing dog, so join a yoga class and relish your new flexibility. Relaxin production peeks at 14 weeks and remains in your system until after baby is born.
15502615 tn?1440995053 Your doctor may recommend that you meet with a physical therapist to provide you with specific exercises designed for your needs. Range-of-motion and stretching exercises can help maintain flexibility in your joints and preserve good posture. Proper sleep and walking positions and abdominal and back exercises can help maintain your upright posture. Most people with ankylosing spondylitis don't need surgery.
Avatar f tn Do any of you have these other issues with your body. - Extreme flexibility, ( particularly when you were younger, you could do all kinds of "tricks") Very soft skin, people often comment how soft your skin is, often touching. Your skin can be "stretchy" or doughy. When you stand and look at the side of your feet down by the bottom you have little white dots that feel like small peas under your skin.
Avatar f tn Exercise can help reduce stiffness and pain, and it can also help you lose weight, which takes pressure off aching joints. Losing as few pounds can cut the risk of developing knee osteoarthritis by 50% for some women. Although OA typically affects the knees, your hips, hands, lower back, and neck may also be affected. Always ask your doctor before doing any exercise! Warming up with gentle stretching can help get your body ready for your workout.
Avatar n tn It’s based on moving through a routine of set poses, or stretches, which increase flexibility, yet protect joints from injury. As your skill builds, the added poses become increasingly challenging in different ways, which makes yoga an exercise routine that grows with you. Another basic yoga concept is that everyone is on his or her own path, progressing at his or her own pace. So leave behind the competitive spirit or fear that you’re not as good as others.

7748835 tn?1393868668 I am also concerned about having EDS. I do not have extra flexibility in my joints, I also don't have translucent skin, nor do I bruise easily(to my knowledge). The symptoms I do have is: flat feet, and gingivitis. However, I haven't taken care of my dental health very well due to being very tight financially, so I'm not sure if that is relevant. My main concern is about the vascular type of eds.. Are there symptoms I would most certainly have if I had that type?
Avatar f tn I am 26 years old and have experienced back pain over the last 10 years. I am extremely flexible and almost all of my joints hyperextend. I can dislocate my shoulders on command and can "jump rope" with my arms. My wrists can turn just about 360 degrees and I can bend my thumbs backwards. My elbows and knees both hyperextend. Not only have I had back pain, I started to have wrist pain about 3 years ago, elbow and shoulder pain about a year ago and knee pain over the last few months.
Avatar f tn Burning, tingling, pins and needles, pain etc that runs down from your bottom to your ankle is the classic sign of sciatica because it travels the route of the sciatic nerve and to be brutally honest, the fact the muscle twitches have spread so fast throughout your body, it is more likely a physical refection of your escalating level of anxiety, and or caused by a general vitamin imbalance eg magnesium etc Hypermobility is commonly used by physiotherapists and it just describes excessive mov
Avatar f tn do any of you experience constant popping in your neck? I have contined to have neck and shoulder pain daily, some days worse than others.....but my neck started popping about 2 months ago and hasn't stopped. No matter how slightly I move me head it pops.
Avatar f tn One study performed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill showed that subjects who performed dynamic warm-ups had higher performance in the vertical jump test than those who just did standard stretching. Dynamic flexibility, which is moving your muscles and joints within your full range of motion repetitively, should be performed before weightlifting because it stimulates higher neural activity and increases tissue elasticity.
Avatar m tn I then had another emg which revealed mild peripheral nerve hyper flexibility. Nothing has been done about this as he believes there is no underlying neurological illness. Within the last 5 months i have also become breathless and short of breath with difficulty clearing throat and swallowing saliva. I know there is something wrong with me and that i have an illness. Any suggestions would be great.
Avatar f tn Stretching can cause your muscle fibers to contract and shorten reflexively. (stretch reflex) which is your body's defense to avoid tearing of your own joints and muscles. This can cause the muscle to be less responsive to length change and more sensitive to pressure and touch. Static stretching, increases your risk of injury and does not promote flexibility. The American Council on Exercise warns against stretching cold muscles, promoting warm-up activities before stretching.
Avatar n tn I understand it may appear similar to what arthritis suffers experience, however, long term degeneration of joints and collagen from diabetes may be responsible for the pain and swelling. Can the pain and swelling be reversed / averted? Can flexibility and mobility lost from swelling be regained? Can swelling be eliminated? - How? Pain and discomfort / lack of sleep from pain? Can sleeping problems from pain be overcome / averted? Does exercise help? Can Diet (natural supplements) help?
Avatar m tn Ok so I think I may have ehlers Danlos. Selma perhaps you could give me some insight. 2 of my 3 daughters are hypermobile. I am not very but my wife is (although I show signs of eds). I have had Eds symptoms for over 12 years which I investigated neurologically instead of from a rheumatology. So all my tests always came back normal. I had an LP in 2008 which led to a spinal headache that would not go away for about 4 months. Possibly due to Eds lack of healing.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 25 year old female, 5'5 and 112 lbs. I have been experiencing very intense jolting, shooting pains in random places throughout my body on both sides, usually from the waist down. I have no idea what it is, but I do know that I also have SI joint pain, in which I experience the same jolting pains. These pains, however, are followed by much milder sensitivity and pain that lasts a long period of time, and often shoots pain on each down-step.
Avatar n tn Has your wrist/watchband become snug? As that could cutoff some blood circulation to your hand and contribute to numbness. Are you left handed, and/or use your fingers quite a bit? Overuse, especially involving harsh vibration like keyboarding, can lead to knuckle damage (osteoarthritic joints are very painful but they usually are easy to spot as they're also swollen). Does heat somewhat relieve your finger pain?
194224 tn?1371160202 m very concerned this will result in substantial strength and flexibility limitations for both arms (preventing all but the lightest exercise). Thus I would like to know from your experience what I might expect after they are able to perform treatment? If you've had elbow surgery for anything similar, did it really limit your ability to exercise/ play sports? I can currently use both arms, but as stated I can lift very little in anything other than a 90* bend.
Avatar f tn At this point, all of my Joints, aside from my spine, have experienced the same pain. Furthermore, as the pain spreads, I have no doubt that the local area has at least been fractured. Having broken bones before, including in the first case mentioned, I have been able to accurately determine if I have broken a bone or not (generally through assessing my body's reaction of sharp, deep, and then numb pain).

1435895 tn?1304291241 Bruise easily. And very loose joints. Can bend my fingers backwards etc. At times my knees want to pop backwards. There is more that fits but I cant remember. So tell me where do I go to rule this out? Geneticist or Rheumatologist? Does this sound like it may be EDS?
407651 tn?1224189895 I WAS TOLD BY DOCTOR AT THIS TEST THAT SHE SUSPECTS I HAVE ELHERS DANLOS DUE TO MY FLEXIBILITY ARTHRITIS JOINTS AND OTHER SYMPTOMS ALSO THAT I HAD POTS. HOWEVER MY CARDIOLOGIST REVIEWED THE TILT TABLE TEST AND HAS ASKED ME TO HAVE ANOTHER TILTTABLE TEST WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF POSSIBLE IS A POSSIBLE REASON AS TO WHY SHE WOULD WANT THE TILT TEST TO BE REPETED.
Avatar m tn If you are moving your body in a way that its not naturally meant to, over time, it can stress out muscles, joints and the like. What commonly happens, when we're not feeling well, we tend to sleep more, sit around the house more, and not exercise ourself and become deconditioned and weaker.
Avatar f tn I'm normally very active and have been for my entire life, I do heavy weight lifting and also have some injuries (ruptured discs in lower back, tailbone pain, and obvious anterior pelvic tilt). All of my muscles are very stiff and inflexible and are very tight and sore deep in the muscle. I sometimes feel spasms all over in my muscles.
