Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.

Your reps should be between six and 12 per set for the most muscle growth, and your workouts should never last much longer than 45 minutes. use heavier weights and move through each rep at a controlled speed. Your sets should last between 40 and 70 seconds any less, and you're not tensing your muscles long enough to shock them into growth.

I've improved a lot and can now do the splits however I recently strained my right leg muscles, especially in the thigh. It's not getting any better and I am getting stiffer and less flexible as it is too painful to stretch. Is there any way I could stretch again soon and make the muscle loosen again?
Avatar f tn I just went to the gym for the first time in a very long time yesterday. The personal trainer had me do squats, and kept changing my form and asking me to do another set. It burned and felt like it normally feels, I wasn't in any terrible pain. Then he had me do a couple sets of lunges, again it was hard but not overly painful. A couple minutes afterwards, though, my thigh muscles cramped up like crazy.
Avatar n tn Toes lose sensation, have wierd sensations spasms in toes, bottom of foot, ankle and legs. The uncomfortableness of it really makes it hard to sleep. I get very tight muscles in my legs as well losing flexibility. I have had a spinal mri and head mri about a ayear ago and nothing showed up. I do also get spasms in my buttocks, back and face and neck as well.
192055 tn?1263555537 I had sternoclavicular joint repair in March of last year. My surgeon took my front neck muscle and wrapped it around my collarbone and breast bone to make it a stable joint. Well, the last few months I have been having a lot of neck pain mainly and some pain at the joint. My previous surgeon didn't want to use bolts since it would make it a fixed joint (there is suppose to be a little play) so I would lose some flexibility.
Avatar n tn And look to your flexibility -- huge muscles are nice for those who like them, but they can interfere with movement. Train to be fit, not to be huge, if you want to be healthy.
Avatar m tn I went to PT and the PT said I was not tight I was flexible, but they were moving me, it was not me moving on my own and I could not get in those positions on my own as my muscles are not that flexible, my joints however are. I sprained my ankle in May '07 and it is still tender to the touch....weird...I had a bruise that lasted a yr.....I am very slow healing, but not all with EDS are like me, just like others with chiari did and do not have the same issues as me.

It helps to build flexibility, muscle strength and helps to build up endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips and back. The exercises concentrate on spinal and pelvic alignment and breathing that helps in strengthening the body's centre. Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.

Avatar m tn I started running in April. The hip tendonitis flared up after that. It's in the crease of the leg where the joint is. Once in awhile itnis bursitis on the outside of the hip. I started a new job unloading trucks and the hip tendonitis got out of control. I stopped running but kept the job. It improved. I tried eliptical after two weeks off and at the end of the work week I was back to severe pain. I am working on strengthening my glutes and hip abductors.

Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar f tn The more days you do this, the more flexibility the muscles in your neck will have. When I do them everyday, my pain is less and I have fewer headaches. Without some kind of stretching exercises, the muscles just keep tightening up. I tried to explain these the best I could. I hope it makes sense. Let me know if I confused you or if these help. Please, if it hurts, STOP! It should not be painful. You should just feel it stretch a little.

Avatar n tn s advice, you need to be in some sort of physical therapy to strenghten and improve flexibility of muscles related to your spine. Also, if your accident was fairly recent, you need to rest a lot, so not being able to get out of bed is your body trying to tell you something. You also need to be on some sort of medicine, either pain killers or antispasmodics, to help control the discomfort you are experiencing in your back, since the shots are not enough.
