Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.
Avatar f tn Then he had me do a couple sets of lunges, again it was hard but not overly painful. A couple minutes afterwards, though, my thigh muscles cramped up like crazy. My legs also felt super weird going down a flight of stairs (kind of felt like my thigh muscles didn't even exist). Today, the next day, I'm in a LOT of pain when I go down stairs or go to sit down. Is this a normal muscular response to this?

Avatar n tn Sore muscles can be causes by muscular stress/ overwork, inflammations, muscular degenerations, systemic infections, a few autoimmune conditions, hormonal/ endocrine abnormalities, micronutrient deficiencies etc. Without an evaluation and probably a few tests, it would be difficult to point out a single cause. It is best advised to consult your primary care physician for an evaluation for the above mentioned conditions. After a cause is diagnosed, it can be managed accordingly.
Avatar f tn s say my water breaks in March.
Avatar m tn It is important to do warm up exercises, before doing the "hard exercises". The reason for this is to soften and loosen up muscles and tendons. If you start to do normal exercises before "warming up" (exercise bike, and stretches), you could end up damaging and tearing muscles and tendons, which you do not want. Same for singing. It is important to do "warm up" exercises to gently loosen up the vocal chords before starting to sing using the full vocal range.
Avatar f tn I have a problem with chronic pain in my left shin and have had bouts with plantar fastitis. Suddenly by shoe inserts to support my high arches feel awful. What are the right exercises and what else can I do?
18214761 tn?1463475911 So I'd say my calves are fairly big but I also know that it isn't all fat. I used to do calf raises and other excises daily to strengthen my legs since I do ballet. Recently I have stopped because when I see them in a mirror they look a bit chunky. I'm scared to do any calf exercises now because I don't want my legs to be big, even if it is all muscle.
938482 tn?1245076111 I would not only see your doctor, but I would also see a chiropractor. Those guys are excellent identifying problems with muscles/bones/nerves. A lot of nerve/tingling/pain is associated with muscular problems, whether pinching, knotting which pushes a chain of muscles out of place (we are all connected after all) or strength issues (lack of strength in one muscle can lead to overuse of another, leading to a chain of soreness too).
Avatar m tn Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn My doc said it was most likely a calcium deficiency, but because the magnesium only one worked as well, it was obviously a magnesium deficiency. Either way, this product is taken by athletes for their sore muscles, too. Good luck! Just make sure you check with your doc. It's either Calcium or Magnesium that cannot be taken in high doses with blood pressure medications.
Avatar m tn In April I started off suddenly with pounding back trouble, out of the blue, went to the doctor, was told it was muscular and it would sort itself out. It got worse, went back and finally had kidney blood tests and urine sent away, get the results today when I ring. This has gone on for two months now. The Doctor still thinks its muscular and the tests were done as a process of elimination.
Avatar m tn if yes, then which exercises may i start for recovery for my body muscles? and for my sex life ? please give me ans.
Avatar m tn I have been sore right around both of my gluteus Maximus muscles since December. The muscle is very tight and seems to be restricting the movement of my lower lumbar. It's uncomfortable to sit even for short periods of time as there is a dull pain from my glutes down the back of my legs. I have been to a spinal PT and I temporarily felt better but not much. He focused only on my spine and said my movement was very limited for a 27 year old.
Avatar n tn If it is muscular seeing a physiotherapist would help. They give you exercises to strengthen the area and let you know what to avoid. They may also do things like ultrasound on the muscles which really helps them relax. I love ultrasound treatments. Since this is pain lasting two years it would make sense to request a referral to a pain management specialist.
Avatar f tn One study performed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill showed that subjects who performed dynamic warm-ups had higher performance in the vertical jump test than those who just did standard stretching. Dynamic flexibility, which is moving your muscles and joints within your full range of motion repetitively, should be performed before weightlifting because it stimulates higher neural activity and increases tissue elasticity.
1925822 tn?1333705617 My NS said he really had to stretch all of my muscles out of the way to get in there and it would take time. (guess I am blessed with a muscular neck LOL of all things) He did not say how long. I hope that it is just you need healing and not that you have cranial instability.
Avatar n tn You can be incredibly fit and strong and not have muscles that are that well defined, and if your muscles are too large they confine movement and flexibility in all but the most incredibly genetically gifted athletes. When I studies martial arts muscles that were too large and defined were seen as impediments to strength, which was believed to come from the combination of muscles with quick movement.
510018 tn?1210966173 Rehabilitation typically includes exercises to help correct your posture, strengthen the muscles supporting your back and improve your flexibility. Your doctor will have you start physical therapy, exercise or both as early as possible. It's the cornerstone of your treatment program and should become part of your permanent routine at home. Prescription drugs. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe an anti-inflammatory medication along with a muscle relaxant.
Avatar f tn So...I need a list of exercises for abs (to lose some fat and accentuate the muscles, I expecially need to accentuate lateral abdominals); to lose the fat under my arms; for legs (expecially thighs, I need to lose fat AND muscular mass)...could you help me? Please specify the name of the exercises and the number of times and repetitions...thank you!
Avatar m tn Light weight lifting and things like doing the super man mat move will strengthen the back overall and you need good ab muscles to help with good low back muscles. Lots of youtube videos for this. Ibuprofen always helps in the short term.
Avatar n tn Include abdominal and upper body exercises such as crunches, planks, side planks, pushups, pullups and triceps dips for total body strengthening to improve your fitness and elevate your metabolism. Perform yoga or stretches after each exercise session to improve your flexibility and reduce your risk of soreness and injuries. Stretching helps to elongate your muscles to give your legs a leaner appearance. No excess sodium and improve your diet to reduce water retention.
