s answers are very very wrong, identical twins are due to one fertilised egg splitting in to two, and non identical twins are due to the mother releasing two eggs which are then fertilised. Absolutely nothing to do with the sperm.

At Worst they need a little assistance breathing but will quickly mature. I was supposed to have twins but they had ttts. I had laser surgery on my placenta. One baby passed. I am 18 weeks pregnant with Identical twins and I have an anterior placenta.. I only feel movenment on one side of my belly from time to time and not a real lot... I felt my single babies really early and by 18 weeks I could see my belly moving from them kicking... so why don't I feel much now?? The placenta? Does it really block that much kicking? I feel them kick down towards my bladder...but it stinks because I really want to feel them move more.

Funny! I read a science article not too long ago that had some trivia I didn't know about identical twins' offspring if identical twins marry identical twins. Identical twins are clones of each other, sharing the exact same genetic makeup. So...if a set of ITs marries another set of ITs (as in this article), their offspring, genetically speaking, would actually be full-blooded brothers/sisters as well as cousins.

From what I read I believe the whole skip a generation is just a myth. Plus you said your mom's sisters are twins, not your mom. I don't think it increases your chances much if your Aunts are twins. And are your aunts fraternal or identical twins because identical twins are completely random & it doesn't increase your chance of having twins if identical twins are in the family.

I read somewhere that identical twins were 1 in 250... And fraternal twins were 1 in 80... I think the numbers increase to 1 in 60ish when you include medical interventions like ivf and hormone treatments ect.

Faternal twins can be heriditary, but identical twins are a freak of nature (a beautiful freak of nature, but none the less so). The only way to garuntee having girls alone is to do genetic testing...expensive.

I m sorry i have no idea abt twins... My only cousin have identical twins... They r spitting image of eachother... Me n dh really wanted twins coz we hve been trying for 5yrs... My cousin did not have any facilities or scan or anything she had normal home birth... N thy are absolutely fine...

We just got home from our first ultrasound.....and we are having IDENTICAL TWINS !!! It was so neat to see the two little heartbeats flickering on the monitor. Both in the same sack so the doctor said the twins part was all us and not fertility. Had it been fertility theyd have been in seperate sacs. what an amazing day !!!!!! Good things come to those that wait !

congrats! My first born are identical twins and they have been so much fun :) easier than a singleton as you are much more organised plus they entertain each other lol! Don't eat for 3!! I made that mistake and do watch for signs of pre eclempsia as you will be more susceptible. If you were exercising beforehand then you can continue but do not overheat, take it a little easier. I had mine share a bassinet and they then shared a cot till they needed more room - so cute!

If you are a fraternal twin, and if your mother was a fraternal twin, your chances are pretty good. If you and your mother were in sets of identical twins, your chances are no better than the average person's of having twins. The father's side doesn't count. I'll see if I have a reference to the article about this that I'm quoting from.

that's a tough one...I think it's very important that twins especially identical, feel like they are individuals as they grow. that being said,my husband and I decided I could name our boy and he could name the girl with these twins. we both independently picked names that start with a and I don't think it's all that bad.
