Fainting while sick

Common Questions and Answers about Fainting while sick

fainting

Avatar f tn I had horrible timing with my fainting spells last pregnancy. I was always really sick with morning sickness and once I passed out while on the stairs and fell down half of them. Woke up at the bottom of the stairs so confused. It's an unfortunate thing but also a bit normal. The amount of blood in your body is increasing and that is usually what causes it. If it happens a lot you should definitely go in and get some blood work done.
203342 tn?1328737207 In some people, fainting can occur without a serious underlying disease like at the time of death of a near one (a moment of sudden and intense grief), on seeing vomitus or on seeing blood (while visiting a hospital). In a good no. of people, fainting is due to some underlying problem that is mainly a cardiovascular problem or a neurological one. In old age, one of the commonest causes of fainting is “sick sinus syndrome”.
Avatar n tn This summer I fainted about 1/2 hour after take off from Canada. Definitely adequately hydrated. Fainting feeling occurred while seated. Fainted once in the seat, and once standing up. Usual blood pressure is 110/60 or 70.
Avatar f tn You need to get the diabetes treated and get on a diabetic diet. Until you do that, you are not going to feel well. Get tested for Celiac disease while you're at it. Have your BP checked because of that headache you're having. If you still have the dizziness, it may be a middle ear problem. For the constipation, start a probiotic and consider Metamucil and magnesium citrate tablets.
Avatar f tn It's been two days and a half that my husband is sick, he had a fever and he thought that he just have a flu,but now its been many times he passed out for several seconds right after he feels like fainting, he hasn't eaten any solid food yet because his stomach is upset and afraid he will vomit.
Avatar m tn Hello, What your husband actually suffered from looks like Syncope. For syncope/fainting to occur, either the reticular activating system in the brain needs to lose its blood supply, or both hemispheres of the brain need to be deprived of blood, oxygen, or glucose. So it can be due to fall in BP, hypoglycemia, dehydration and inadequate electrolytes(sodium and calcium) in the body, postural hypotension, blockage of arteries supplying blood to the brain esp.
881165 tn?1265984588 I have been super sick, so not on MedHelp in a while. My immune system is still on a rampage, which means the fainting keeps getting worse. I'm trying my second round of IV steroids tomorrow (?). Funny thing is, the first time around, my heart rate went down to normal. Anyway, I'm thinking of all of you; just don't have the energy to get on here every day and keep up. Take care!
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having problems feeling really dizzy or fainting? I passed out last week in the middle of cosco and almost again in Wal-Mart anyone else having or had this problem??
2086477 tn?1332611994 Some say that I get up very fast and my blood has not enough time to travel to my brain (why dont I pass out while I am on my way to the toilet then?) others say that while urinating first thing in the morning the water ballance in the body dropps (I can not understand the issue.. Does someone have the same? Does anyone knows what to do (not to do?) I have to mention that I have MS, which is a neuroligical condition.. Guess it can contribute as well.. and I am 31. Thank you in advance !
Avatar f tn Now average heart rate during day time is 35 and it drops to 17 at night. Recently I was diagnosed as sick sinus syndrome and recommend a permanent pace maker. I have never experienced any fainting episode during my life. Please comment on my suitable for flying and doing the surgery as recommended by the specialist.
Avatar n tn That is too high even while working out. Is she pushing herself hard on the treadmill or jogging along at a reasonable pace? And fainting isn't good either. Do you think that was related to anything else like being overheated, dehydrated or sick? She should see the doctor and explain what's going on. They may ask her to wear a heart monitor for a day or two.
Avatar f tn It usually happens after waking up from a deep sleep. I wake up, start feeling sick to my stomach, get up to try and go to the restroom and then I pass out. My doctor says that I should elevate my legs abouve heart level. That is impossible on an airplane. has anybody out there experienced it and done anything about it. I do not have a heart condition, or thrombosis. My blood pressure is normally a little below the norm.
Avatar n tn Last night I was standin in the kitchen having a cup of tea and chatting to a friend when all of a sudden I felt really tired and incredibly nauseas, my ears started ringing like i was going deaf. The room got narrow and darker and i felt like i was getting really dizziness accompanied by a sharp stabbing headache...all i could get out was 'Im really feeling sick' and i needed to lay down immediately because i felt like i was either going to puke or pass out.
Avatar n tn Cold chills can come from having the flu, or perhaps in your case with the fainting, could be something as simple as you not having enough protein to eat on a regular basis. Protein is like the wood in a fire, it burns and heats up a person. And if you ain't got no fire, you'll get cold. In addition, protein gives you energy, and if you don't have any, you can get pretty weak and light-headed. But there are many reasons why this happened to you, those are just my top two choices.
Avatar n tn Many visits to er with same symptoms of fainting or shutting down. Finally they diagnosed me with sick sinus syndrome were my heart rate drops to 30 when I fall in deep sleep. Pace maker was the only option. I was shocked that it took 25 years to figure the problem.. I don't mean to alarm u but insist on a 30 day monitor maybe it will catch something. Good luck and God Bless.

Avatar f tn Recently during a catch up with family I fainted. Over the previous two hours I had about 4 standard drinks. I had a small meal just before I started drinking. Granted it wasn't a large meal but it was still food. My cousin told me I had a "seizure" when I but I haven't had a chance since then to really talk to him.
Avatar n tn I wouldn't think that it was too common. I suppose it is related to your response to either pain or just the general surroundings. Some people get a sick or faint feeling when even going into a hospital. It's just a human reaction and everyone reacts differently to all kinds of situations. I wouldn't worry about it but you might mention it if you have any other type of procedure done in the future so the staff will be alert in case it might happen again. Regards ....
Avatar n tn When i experience the dizzines my pupils tend to get larger. To the point where it happend at school and I was taken to the sick room and they asked about drugs, ( which I'm not on). I was told I am anemic, low iron. about a year ago. And thats the only thing that is wrong with me that they know about. I had two E.C.G's and both were fine, same with the blood test. They put me on a heart monitor and that was also fine.

Avatar n tn I got a swedish massage Saturday afternoon and about a half hour after started to feel a little sick. It felt like cramps/nausea and came in waves. I had my period for a few days, but was not feeling bad before the massage at all this month. About 2 hours after the massage while I was shopping I felt really sick and fainted. I've never fainted before in my life. Do you think it was the massage? Im hoping its not something more serious.
Avatar n tn Currently she is in the middle of basketball season and now it seems like the last 3 games she goes in at half time and she gets sick and it takes her a while to come back. She does play real hard but she has always played that way. She also had a couple fainting spells. This has just come on the last month but it has been very hard on her because she is so active. Now she doesn't want to go to school in the morning because she always feels sick. Does anyone have any thoughts?
