1296927 tn?1272559732 She is 9 years old and on Monday she was taken to the ER via ambulance because she fainted in school. At the time of her fainting, the teacher was showing pictures of the muscle structure of the knee and pretending to do "knee surgery." At the hospital my daughter's blood work was normal, her urine showed a significant UTI, her cat scan of her skull came back normal, and she had no heart rate problems via ultrasound.
Avatar n tn I have a 15 year old, very athletic daughter who has been experiencing nausea most mornings. She can feel this way other times of the day also but for sure every morning. She also has diahrea 2-3 times a day. Currently she is in the middle of basketball season and now it seems like the last 3 games she goes in at half time and she gets sick and it takes her a while to come back. She does play real hard but she has always played that way. She also had a couple fainting spells.
403255 tn?1278813266 ) The time it happens is in the last unit before school ends and our lunchtime is the hour before. I was worried and I rang my midwife and she said it could be: 1. Not enough calories for extra energy I am using - Have got some slow release carb snacks for tomorrow to keep my blood sugar up like she said. I had just eaten my lunch about ten minutes before this happen thoguh. 2.

Avatar n tn Hmm, this is certainly a different question! I tend to agree with them about not approving your placement until the cause is known. Sorry! :-) If you were helping a patient, for instance, transfer from the bed to a wheelchair and then fainted in the middle of it, the patient could get hurt. You don't say exactly how often it happens but if you can't prevent ALL of the fainting, then it could be a risk. And btw, I have been an RN since 1970 (ack!
Avatar n tn Cold chills can come from having the flu, or perhaps in your case with the fainting, could be something as simple as you not having enough protein to eat on a regular basis. Protein is like the wood in a fire, it burns and heats up a person. And if you ain't got no fire, you'll get cold. In addition, protein gives you energy, and if you don't have any, you can get pretty weak and light-headed. But there are many reasons why this happened to you, those are just my top two choices.
970599 tn?1247714164 Occasionaly I get really dizzy and either almost fall over or faint. It's gotten increasingly worse over the years. I'm only 16 and it's happened when i was 13-14 in school and before that but not bad. But its really scaring me. I was at my friends house with my boyfriend and we were standing outside talking and i felt the weird feeling of black and white pulsating flashes coming on and i tried to fight it, but couldnt.

Avatar n tn Alternatively, some healthy young people may not have a routine ECG, and LQTS may be suspected because of their family history or because of unexplained fainting episodes. In any family where repeated episodes of fainting or a history of sudden death exists, an investigation of the cause, including LQTS, should be undertaken. Is there a family history? There are treatments for LQTS, including medications such as beta blockers.
203342 tn?1328737207 Thus, the heart rate is quite slow in them and thus the brain is not able to get adequate blood resulting in fainting. For diagnosing this condition, something known as holter monitoring is required which is nothing but a 24 hr ECG monitoring. It’s able to pick any other arrhythmias (abnormal rhythms of the heart) also which can cause such fainting attacks. I will suggest the test of holter monitoring, if it not done. Thanking you. Kind Regards.
605654 tn?1220144338 Monika, I would like the answer to that question too. My 15 year old daughter is hoping to get her license in a month, and she has vasovagal syncope. I'm not sure if the DMV asks those types of medical questions. I'm planning on taking her for her drivers test anyway. Even if she can't drive at this point, she will atleast be able to say, "she has her license." Another problem, is my daughter is scheduled to take drivers ed at her high school in January.
Avatar f tn From the time I was 19 I have developed hives, swelling, and itching when I go into the sun. It doesn't happen every time I'm in the sun, but it's more likely to happen when the sun is shining very brightly. I've discovered that if I can get out of the sun when my skin starts to tingle and burn, the reaction is not as bad.
Avatar f tn I want to know if I can request bedrest.?
290867 tn?1333569278 Have you called around in your new city to see if you can find a doctor that is on board espically with your medical history. Maybe your ob can reccomend someone in the new place you are moving to? I hope the move goes well. How has the pregnancy been thus far?
Avatar f tn are you pregnant or trying? fainting is something that i guess is common in early pregnancy. other than that i would say stay very hydrated and keep cool. hot weather can take a toll on ones body.
Avatar m tn Over the past 3 months I'd say, I have had fainting episodes twice now. The first time I had fainted, I had no clue it was going to happen when I woke up. I had got dressed, went to my bus stop and went to school. I had got my lunch feeling fine, went to class and begun eating. Before I could even finish my stomach was killing me, it felt kind of empty and generally uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn So last week I posted about almost fainting at my son's school...well today I went to go drop him off and my heart started to pound super fast and I started to panic..
1424099 tn?1282940614 She is very active 5th-8th grade she did volleyball, basketball, softball, dance, and tack, in high school she does volleyball and she attempted basketball but she has a breathing issuse so she supported her team from the bench mostly. She has had very severe migranes for as long as I can remember. In 7th grade (3 years ago) she played basketball and if there werent relax/ not constant running she wouldn't be able to breath in just out.
7463033 tn?1399311106 those are both good fields to go into. Do you have a certain school in mind!?
Avatar f tn Is you daughter being seen at a major pediatric medical center? I think if I were you, I might take her out of school until you can get to the bottom of this. I don't think it is acceptable to allow a child to regularly pass out at school - it seems to me that this is too risky a situation.
Avatar f tn So i was at the store today, and out of no where i started feeling nauseous and clammy. And then it was like i was in a tunnel and couldnt hear or see anything clearly. Next thing i know im on the floor looking around. So i fainted. First time in my life. Im 16 weeks. Is it normal? Has this happened to any of y'all? And i was down for just a few seconds.
Avatar n tn Last night I was standin in the kitchen having a cup of tea and chatting to a friend when all of a sudden I felt really tired and incredibly nauseas, my ears started ringing like i was going deaf. The room got narrow and darker and i felt like i was getting really dizziness accompanied by a sharp stabbing headache...all i could get out was 'Im really feeling sick' and i needed to lay down immediately because i felt like i was either going to puke or pass out.
Avatar f tn He was happy for the first week but then he started making excuses in the morning that he is having pain in stomach or coughs and says I am going to vomit. And once he did in school so he was sent back home but after that he vomitted everyday for almost 10 days. The teacher thought it at first it might be because of fear of spelling test but then he did it everyday. I am confused he is a healthy child and is okay throughout the day otherwise. Is it school phobia????????????
Avatar f tn Hey, I'm 17, and in the last few months, experienced panic attacks in school, to the point where my legs go numb and i start to feel dizzy, and need to leave the class. I went to the doctor, and had a low vitamin count, took some cod liver oil capsules etc but i don't think it's going away. It's really getting me down because I can't focus in school properly anymore and think something terrible is going to happen in the classroom.
