Is there a right or wrong answer to using estrogen blockers for ADH? I realize that ADH isn't cancer just a disorder that puts me at a higher risk to develop breast cancer. Has the research shown that it is better one way than the other? Estrogen blockers vs. monthly breast self-exams, MRI's of the breast and noting any type of changes in the breast? I'm only 54 years old and not really sure what to do from here?
I am wondering if supplementing a SERM (Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator) with t-blockers and estrogen would allow me to feminize my body while preventing breast tissue development.
I understand this would be an unorthodox use of SERMs, but the only other alternative I could think of would be to just take t-blockers which I know is fairly dangerous in the long-term.
Would this use of SERMs be safe/effective?

I was taking testosterone compound cream (10mg) a day and my pharmacist told me to make sure I get my estrogen levels checked because too much testosterone can turn into estrogen. He also recommended an anti-estrogen like Chrysin. It was working great but it still took a few days to "build back up" and so my roommate gave me something called Tamoxifen (also called nolvadex). I took it for about a week and it literally annihilated my sex drive.

now my hyperthyroid is back and out of control. back on methimazole and beta blockers for 3 weeks.. still out of control. my dr now wants me to stop methimazole take only beta blockers so i can do the RAI. This is terrible and unbearable already. Is it normal to do the RAI before my hyper symptoms are level?
Years ago I worked on the NDA for calcium channel blockers. The drug company studies suggested that a universe of people with idiopathic hypertension could control this with vitamin D3 and calcium supplements without other drugs. That does not mean that everyone with high blood pressure can lower it with these supplements. There is a genetic componant. In one test study 15-18 percent of the test subjects could significantly lower blood pressure with calcium and D3.
I'm not sure of the science behind it, but HPV infection can, in some cases, lead to cervical cancer among women from causing abnormal cell growth in the cervix. Being that men don't have cervixes, it doesn't really work that way for men :).

Progesterone is needed to oppose oestrogen in men. If this goes on for long enough a man (yes, and a woman) can become oestrogen Dominant (too much oestrogen relative to Testosterone). By lowering stress and thus.. reducing cortisol, my progesterone levels should return to normal levels. If that is the case then why wouldn't it counter the extra oestrogen in my body automatically and remove the effects of oestrogen dominance?
I certainly see your point ... there are side effects from any of the Estrogen blockers. I chose NOT to take Tamoxifen but it's a strictly personal decision. I wouldn't recommend anyone else to take or not take anything. We each have to weigh the pros and cons and decide for ourselves. Best of Luck whatever you decide.
The doctor only gave you beta blockers for this? A dx of hyperthyroidism usually includes a script of anti-thyroid meds like methamozole also or maybe a PTU.
The doctor may have a conclusion due to a recent birth that you are in a temporary abnormal function with thyroid. This is common when a birth happens and it can resolved for some.

The next scheduled blood test is for 12/20, but I'd lie to get in sooner. I am thankful for this information, I'm glad to know about the FT4 and that issues can get worse before getting better, it helps.
I have heard that men wanting to either reassign their gender or simply to dress as women can take estrogen and that it minimizes the male genitals after a while, but have never heard how much. The only man I ever talked to who was into dressing female, looked great (in other words, you would not be able to tell he was anything but a very striking woman) even in a swimsuit, and although he was doubtless taking hormones, he had not had an operation.
I've read on plenty of forums of women have outbreaks during ovulation. Estrogen levels are higher during ovulation, and there are studies showing that estrogen is linked to herpes. This is why women seem to have herpes more than men. It is just that women present more than men do because we have more estrogen. If I don't take the Valtrex, the outbreaks progress to oozing and crusting over. I really don't see what else this could be.
