17008026 tn?1453000615 Hi! During the last six months my weight has increased from ~135 (60 kg) to almost 175 (80kg) pounds. This happens even though my general level of exercise has increased and I just eat approximately 1300-1500 calories a day. I would have asked my doctor about this but he's not very accessible at the moment, and I'm not sure if this is the right place to get an answer to this type of question.
4128244 tn?1350073611 I've read somewhere that estradiol (I'm on the patch) can increase your T4. Has anyone else heard this? Also, that time of day and fasting can affect TSH. I'm going for TSH, FT4, and FT3 tomorrow. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I have been on the estradiol patch for 5 weeks! I was on the .725 dose. I have gained about 8 pounds and I am freaking out! I have been extremely co scoops of my diet and etc. my doctor suggested we lower the dose to the .375 to see if it will help! How long will it be before I see the weight come off?
216278 tn?1308861082 , it has been determined that I have sub-clinical hypothyroidism and my estrogen levels are low. This is the first month that I have worn an Estradiol patch and am just getting concerned! I know that the best advice and words of wisdom come from those who have experienced it, so I thought that I would start here... Is it possible that this patch can raise my Estrogen to a level that would hinder my chances at pregnancy this month? (I wear it for 10 days after I ovulate!) Thanks!
1651832 tn?1301690605 I switched back immediately to the other dosage. But eventually I left the Bi-est to go back to the Patch of Estradiol that I'd been on from 2000 - 2003. And, I'm glad I switched back. I currently use the "Vivelle" patch. I may some day have to switch to a sublingual tablet of bioidentical Estrace which would bypass the liver and has been well-tolerated by some women I know.
Avatar f tn I think that Estratest is made with a bio estradiol but because it is mixed with Testosterone, it is hard to regulate the dosage and you might not be getting enough Estrogen and too much testosterone. I am on testosterone and Vivelle. I have lately had the most success on this combination than I have for years and years. I am 55 and had my radical hysterectomy when I was 47. I agree with Cherie 100% on the Vivelle patch. Love it.
Avatar f tn How do I tell what is surgical menopause and what is a reaction to the patch/ Cream bioidentical estradiol? How do I tell what a hot flash is versus when I have a 99 degree temp? I have tried every dosage down to .375 and still cant handle it..tried .1 for a week felt like I was going to have a stroke. .5 totally unbearable. What can I do??? I feel I am too young to not have replacement and yet replacement feels like its hurting my body.
Avatar f tn since then i have had severe derpession and anxiety vaginal dryness,no intrest in sex recently(i think that could be cause by the antidepressant im on) my dr put me on the estradiol patch low dose..will it help me any?I have no energy and im sick of the depression and anxiety i have no reason to, be this way i have a perfectly good life...has anyone gone off estrogen for years adn then back on it with sucess..i just turned 50,was 36 when i had total hystrectomy..
Avatar f tn How long after a confirmed pregnancy are you suppose to continue taking Estradiol? Just read on the internet that it can cause birth defects and I can't reach my doctor to confirm this.
Avatar n tn Hi Vicki, I just have a second (off to work and no computer at work) but I wanted to say that I did a quick search and found that the patch you are on is in fact a bioidentical estradiol, which, in my opinion, is the only way to go...
Avatar f tn Some women find that trying a different brand can make a world of difference such as switching from Vivelle-Dot or Minivelle (3 day patch) to Climara (7 day patch). They have different adhesives that can affect uptake of the estrogen. The Vivelle-Dot did not work well for me and I didn't know any better to try Climara. If the patch doesn't work out, there are pills, gels, and vaginal rings you can try. Hope you find something that helps soon! I know how desperate it can feel!
216278 tn?1308861082 Hi! I am 2dpo and I started an Estradiol patch today to wear for the next week and a half. Of course, I am starting to second guess everything (typical start of my tww) Does anyone know if this could raise my estrogen TOO much, thus hurting my chances for pregnancy? I have posted a picture of the graph of my hormone levels when they did the full panel and I put the numbers in a journal to correspond with it!
1809377 tn?1316520328 As far as the sexual responsiveness, though, I will say that even though I was on an Estradiol patch, it wasn't until we added a bit of testosterone that things improved for me. In fact, my sex drive had plummeted to nothing. Careful on the dosage of testosterone, though, many doctors prescribe too high a dose and it is not necessary... it also has to work in conjunction with a dose of estradiol that is high enough so that the testosterone is utilized appropriately.
Avatar f tn Hi Gayleen, I am going to suggest you consider it is time for a change in the dosage of your patch. I am hoping you are on a Bioidentical patch... all of the info I am about to share is info regarding this type of estrogen patch. I don't know much about the synthetic patches and from what I have read, you will not get the same type of relief since there are "issues" with the synthetics... dose often not high enough...
Avatar f tn Two months ago he put me on the patch. A new patch every week. It worked the first month and I got no period at all (which is what he told me would happen) now I'm starting to bleed again. I'm so frustrated and I'm worried that it's gonna be another month long period. I don't know if I should just ask to get it out now? Or what birth control to use next? I have tried the iud and I can't do that again. Don't remember to take the pill..
Avatar f tn i have tried estradiol pill and patch with promtrium which i believe makes depression worse.Menest .
Avatar f tn t totally dicount the use of Estradiol (in the form of a patch...either Vivelle or Climara) in the future. You can look at my journal comments on my profile page where I speak a bit about Bioidentical hormones ... There are comments from others there too.. and, their experiences. To Tobesmartt... there is some GREAT information from Dr. Erika Schwartz (hormone specialist) on why our Grandmothers, etc., did not suffer quite as much as we seem to be now...
Avatar f tn Start of my third week suppression, i was given a shot of gonal f for 225 ui for 5 days, after my lab test, estradiol is low and follicles are not present. dosage was increase to 375 ui for 3 days and still, estradiol is low and no follicles seen. doctor advised to cancel the ivf due to abandon cycle and try next cycle again with an increase dosge of 450ui. Why is it that my body is not responding to gonal f even though the dosage has been increased? Is there a problem?
Avatar f tn Now when I get them, I take note of it since it tells me that I may need to either increase my dose of estradiol or that I need to change my estradiol patch sooner... (I use the Vivelle patch.. a bioidentical estradiol transdermal patch). Years ago I had all of this checked out by a Cardiac doctor who told me I had benign tacycardia, but we did not discuss how ovarian levels of estradiol affects our heart and how palpatations can occur when things are not at optimal levels.
Avatar n tn Hello, I have had menstrual migraines for over 30 years and as I get closer to menopause, things are getting worse. I had a hysterectomy last July and have been taking.25mg estradiol gel every night and when I first started taking it, it seemed like the headaches were not so bad. Now I am wondering if I should bump it up to .
Avatar f tn 2 mg soft capsules along with the same dosage of estradiol for next 9 days. She told me that I am suppose to get my periods within 3 to 7 days after I finish this medicine. Today is the 14th day but still I did not get my periods. I want to ask what can be the reason. I had PCOS problem 3 years back but now my periods were normal, I also had a history of a miscarriage and tubal pregnancy along with a successful pregnancy.

709441 tn?1233340088 I use Vivelle Estradiol... climara is good, too. Newer research indicates that Estradiol (the kind of estrogen we had pumping through us in our 20's) is the only way to go. The book I mentioned a thousand times has been the most helpful to me. "Screaming to be Heard" by Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet is an amazing (and huge) book. Don't let it overwhelm you. You have to do the reseach on this stuff or it will get the better of you.
Avatar f tn Since your FT4/FT3 numbers have dropped over the last two years, why is the doctor reluctant to increase your dosage. Dosage is irrelevant, only the physiological effects are important. Seems the doctor should be wiling to get your FT4/FT3 back to prior levels. Also your D is a bit lower than recommended, which is 50 minimum. Your B12 is adequate, but your ferritin should be at least 100. Have you ever been tested for cortisol?
Avatar f tn I use a generic weekly estradiol patch (.1 mg) and Prometrium (200 mg) every night due to extreme menopausal symptoms. I change my patch on Monday evenings. I bleed for several days beginning every other Monday. Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Avatar n tn I can tell you that the Vivelle patch IS estradiol. It is considered a human (something 17 beta... have to look it up) form of Estradiol. It is made from Yams but acts in the body the same as the estrogen (Estradiol.. the best) in your body would work. If you did not use the patch of estradiol, your body would kick in to make fat (around the trunk so that it would be easy for the body to access) since a by-product of this fat in menopause is an estrogen called Estrone... not the best estrogen.
Avatar m tn I personally found generic Estrace (micronized estradiol tablets) to work better for me than the patch. And a bonus is that it is a $4 (for 30) / $10 (for 90) prescription whereas I think I was paying $70 for a 3 month supply of patches.
