Avatar f tn What is estradiol? Estrogen? If it is estrogen, this is used to thicken the lining of the uterus. I don't think this should continue to be taken. My doctor has me stop this on day 15 of my cycle. If it is progesterone, then yes, 12 weeks.... but depending on why it was prescribed. I would be checking with your doctor asap, as he is the best one to answer this.
Avatar f tn I have been on the estradiol patch for 5 weeks! I was on the .725 dose. I have gained about 8 pounds and I am freaking out! I have been extremely co scoops of my diet and etc. my doctor suggested we lower the dose to the .375 to see if it will help! How long will it be before I see the weight come off?
216278 tn?1308861082 I am sorry I do not know too much about the Estradiol patch and estrogen levels, but I understand your concerns and second guessing. I am sure if you made the right decision to do use the patch and now you are like you said second guessing. Relax and trust your decision. I hope someone has more constructive information for you. Good Luck!!
7649183 tn?1393014236 Menostar is an ultra, ultra low-dose estrogen patch (0.014 mg/day) that has recently been approved for unopposed estrogen use in postmenopausal women. It is indicated for bone protection only and does not offer any vasomotor symptom relief. You can get these patches prescribed. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor.
216278 tn?1308861082 , it has been determined that I have sub-clinical hypothyroidism and my estrogen levels are low. This is the first month that I have worn an Estradiol patch and am just getting concerned! I know that the best advice and words of wisdom come from those who have experienced it, so I thought that I would start here... Is it possible that this patch can raise my Estrogen to a level that would hinder my chances at pregnancy this month? (I wear it for 10 days after I ovulate!) Thanks!
Avatar f tn It almost makes me wonder if the cells receptive for Estradiol (Vivelle) were just getting used to the type of estrogen you were introducing to your body and that eventually you would have adjusted. I say this because it typically is the Lack of Estrogen that will cause weight gain and not the abundance. On the other hand, since you are also taking progesterone, you may have been out of balance between the two hormones.
1651832 tn?1301690605 I understand that everyone is different, but the prevailing attitude is that our bodies (for women) were made to crave estrogen. And, Estradiol is the estrogen that is produced when we are at our most vital ... produced in the ovaries from puberty to menopause and even after that... they say our ovaries drip estradiol for years after menopause (although many women choose to supplement anyway so that there is an optimal amount of estradiol for optimal health.
Avatar f tn so i just now at 50 got put on the low dose patch estradiol...i have been on anxiwty drugs for twenty years and was doing aoaky till a few years back so i wanted to see if the estrogen would help me...i need my sex drive back will it help with that and my mood and vagianl dryness...
Avatar n tn Hi! I have low estrogen and normal FSH (I'm 38, though). My course of action is to wear an estrogen patch from 3 days after ovulation to 12 days after ovulation (since that's when mine is dropping off). I have heard of (and tried it once, but didn't like how I felt) that the patch can also be worn during CD8-12 to help with low estrogen. My acupuncturist told me that the patch is the most similar to actual estrogen (versus pills) so I pushed for that!
Avatar n tn t have, and was placed on a higher dose of estrogen. I use the vivelle dot patch, oral estrogen and vaginal estrogen. This seems to have helped the urinary problems amongst other things. Are you on hormone replacement? There is a great book I am reading called "Screaming to be heard" by Elizabeth Vliet MD and it really goes into detail on how hormones affect every organ system. Are you on Hormone replacement? I hope this helps, and I hope you get some answers.
Avatar f tn The last six months I started getting my P every month for 3 weeks! My doc first prescribed me an estrogen (Estradiol) pill and told me to take it when my P was longer then 10 days. Well that didn't work. Two months ago he put me on the patch. A new patch every week. It worked the first month and I got no period at all (which is what he told me would happen) now I'm starting to bleed again. I'm so frustrated and I'm worried that it's gonna be another month long period.
4128244 tn?1350073611 I've read somewhere that estradiol (I'm on the patch) can increase your T4. Has anyone else heard this? Also, that time of day and fasting can affect TSH. I'm going for TSH, FT4, and FT3 tomorrow. Thanks!
Avatar f tn Since then I have been on an estrogen patch and felt great for the first couple of months after the procedure. I began to experience low back pain; particularly in the morning. So severe at times that I can hardly bend to put on my shoes. I did gain 20lbs but I am still active at 46 years old. Is it possible to have a prolaspe bladder as I feel that there is something coming out of me. Also, when I have sneezed or coughed, I feel a ripping in my abdomin but does not hurt.
Avatar f tn since then i have had severe derpession and anxiety vaginal dryness,no intrest in sex recently(i think that could be cause by the antidepressant im on) my dr put me on the estradiol patch low dose..will it help me any?I have no energy and im sick of the depression and anxiety i have no reason to, be this way i have a perfectly good life...has anyone gone off estrogen for years adn then back on it with sucess..i just turned 50,was 36 when i had total hystrectomy..
Avatar f tn I had a FET on October 7th and have been on estrogen patches plus taking estradiol pills. On Saturday my estrogen was 900+ so they said I could go from 3 patches a day to 2 patches a day. My estrogen level today (Monday) was 700-something. They said they will retest me on Thursday. UGH. I should be 6 weeks 5 days pregnant. Should my body be making enough of its own estrogen so that taking off one patch would not make the estrogen level drop???
709441 tn?1233340088 I use Vivelle Estradiol... climara is good, too. Newer research indicates that Estradiol (the kind of estrogen we had pumping through us in our 20's) is the only way to go. The book I mentioned a thousand times has been the most helpful to me. "Screaming to be Heard" by Dr. Elizabeth Lee Vliet is an amazing (and huge) book. Don't let it overwhelm you. You have to do the reseach on this stuff or it will get the better of you.
Avatar f tn I meant to add that the migraines for me stopped once I got on a steady dose of estradiol. I was on the 1mg patch of Vivelle for years before I switched and tried other estrogen combos.... back to Vivelle for me. I get a dull headache now and then if I forget to change my patch. For me the bad headaches were related to menopause... of course, you will check out this pain with the doctors... but do the research on the hormonal front and see what you think.
589713 tn?1255699571 I and many others use Vivelle its an estrogen patch, most all on it have no problems with vaginal dryness or lack of desire for sex,I would pressume the bleeding is from having sex with out lubrication? You should discuss bio-identicals with your doctor after he gives you a complete check up to rule out anything physical. Hang in there,,I have a feeling your problem can be easily solved..
Avatar f tn I have never heard of MI being a contraindication to taking estrogen (in transdermal form anyway - such as a patch or gel). Transdermals do not have the clotting risk that oral forms do.
Avatar n tn I can tell you that the Vivelle patch IS estradiol. It is considered a human (something 17 beta... have to look it up) form of Estradiol. It is made from Yams but acts in the body the same as the estrogen (Estradiol.. the best) in your body would work. If you did not use the patch of estradiol, your body would kick in to make fat (around the trunk so that it would be easy for the body to access) since a by-product of this fat in menopause is an estrogen called Estrone... not the best estrogen.
Avatar f tn i have tried estradiol pill and patch with promtrium which i believe makes depression worse.Menest .
Avatar f tn When I left the hospital I was fine emotionally for about a week, as they placed a large estrogen patch on my abdomen before I woke up form surgery. When that evidently started to wear off, the EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS from when I was 20 came back with a vengeance - cold sweat panic attacks/severe can't-stop-crying depression, etc.
Avatar f tn I am 46 years old I am having so much trouble with hrt estrogen estradiol . My side effects are as follows severe tinnitus, phelgm in my lungs and coughing, high blood pressure, weight gain, high cholesterol, positive ANA test boderline lupus numbers, high hscrp test, pains behind my eyes, breathing pain issues, low grade fever, forehead pain, stuffy nose like allergies...all of this has been since I started hrt which was right after my surgery.
Avatar n tn My recovery went well, except that my stomach muscles were sore (I had an open bikini cut), but now my incision no longer hurts. My concern is that I have been placed on the estrogen patch since one week after the surgery. I started having headaches, pains under my arms, and my feet started swelling more than usual. The doctor asked me to cut the patch in half, still changing it twice a week.
Avatar n tn I am sorry your wife's gyn removed all her parts. Mine were also removed (needlessly since all that needed to be removed was an ovarian cyst). For me, the effects were severe in every way. I became suicidal and aged dramatically overnight (hair, skin, vision, muscle mass) and couldn't function... couldn't concentrate, think logically, remember anything, couldn't sleep, etc. Estrogen was a huge help for me.
