Dose of acyclovir in chicken pox

Common Questions and Answers about Dose of acyclovir in chicken pox

zovirax

Avatar n tn from 8 week to 12 week I was under high dose of acyclovir. I had a herpes break out and also 2 weeks after I got chicken pox. Therefore I went through longer acyclovir course. Then I had my test at 14 week. It was a P24 antigen and antibody test (Hiv duo test) It came back negative but I'm still worried as high dose of acyclovir might alter the result. Will it effect the virus replication and antibody production?
Avatar f tn JMHO. That being said chicken pox is dangerous in pregnancy and can cause complications in the mother (pneumonia for starters) as well as in the fetus. I absolutely would take what the dr prescribe me since it is treatment for chicken pox in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Evidence published in the New England Journal of Medicine in March, 2007 indicates that the immunity from a single dose of vaccine may wear off with time. We now recommend that children age 1-12 years receive two doses -- one at age 1 year, and one at least 3 months after the first dose -- to be sure of developing full immunity. Generally we give the second dose with the rest of the standard kindergarten vaccinations at age 4-5 years.
Avatar m tn Hello, The antiviral drug Acyclovir that you have been prescribed is usually done by doctors for chicken pox because it is a viral infection. Because chickenpox is a viral disease, antibiotics are ineffective. Antibiotics may be prescribed if the blisters become infected. Calamine lotion helps to reduce itchiness. You can apply that also. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn You can get shingles from being in contact with someone with the chicken pox, or in my case a tramatic experience followed by extreme stress. I wouldn't take ssomething that wasn't prescribed. I would ask the doc about valtrex asap! Don't scratch and no hot baths or shower, it will spread.
Avatar n tn If they get chicken pox from my shingles, that is NOT all. They become candidates for shingles down the road, and I would not wish that on my worst enemy.
Avatar n tn I got the chicken pox vaccine and i got the chicken pox when i was 5. My immunologist thought I had something called hyper ige syndrome but my results for that were negative. They don't really know why i keep having reoccurring shingles but i think it's mostly because I have a bad immune system and I do get stressed easily.
Avatar n tn On Monday I was still itching so bad I went to the clinic and that Dr advised me that I had Chicken Pox....I feel bad... My head hurts... my lymph nodes in the back of my neck are swollen and hurt.... Behind my eyes hurt... My mouth is dry...and I am still itching but some of the places do have a scab on them. I guess my question is can chicken pox make you feel like this?? Or should I still be worried about something else?????
Avatar f tn The virus that causes chicken pox, lies dormant in our bodies. You cannot get shingles unless you have had chicken pox. Anyone who has not had chicken pox may develop chickenpox when they have been in contact with someone with shingles.
Avatar f tn I have got small very clear water blisters all over the body 3 weeks before. They are not itchy at the first i met gp he say and told me they are herpes but thing is i got get single single blisters only didn't get any cluster of blisters in anywhere of my body so i checked with dermatologist he told me its chicken pox then two days later it becomes red some more tiny blisters appears and scap over they were red in colour but previous ones were still water filled only few were bit big.
Avatar m tn I got a bunch of vaccines for nursing school about two weeks ago, including the chicken pox vacc. Well here we are two weeks later and I have chicken pox. I feel flu like symptoms, yesterday was the worst, joint aches. I have probably less than 50-70 pox marks, very few are crusted over, they mainly look like bug bites, some to itch. Then again this is only day 3. I got put on Acyclovir today 800mg 4 times daily.
Avatar n tn Few Lesions (pimple like with red base) come and go everywhere in my body (cheeks, forehead, ear pinna, eyelids, chest, arm, forearm...). I have took acyclovir only for 10 days in October and am suffering a couple of lesions coming up and clearing in few days every now and then. This is companied by random itching occurring in different parts of the body without visible lesions, I also felt some shooting pain for a few seconds (rarely) into my penis.
Avatar m tn Are you stressing your self too much after the event? like sleepless nights, skipping meals etc? Chicken pox is a type of herpes virus. It has got nothing to do with diagnosis of HIV. Shingle out breaks are often seen when body is stressed, crash dieting or when the digestive system is at toss at a greater level. If you have chicken pox, please start the medications as this virus is contagious.
Avatar m tn if this is shingles, it's not a real issue from you rubbing your eyes. shingles is a reactivation of a prior chicken pox infection and it's not something you would spread all over your body.
Avatar f tn chicken pox isn't going to show up on this many body parts over this period of time. I'm assuming you were vaccinated for it and even if you didn't get enough protection from the vaccine and did actually get chicken pox, you'd feel a lot sicker along with this rash. Adults who get chicken pox are miserable!!! You need to see your doctor today or tomorrow for this rash. odds are this is something else going on.
Avatar n tn As far as I am aware..Shingles stays in spinal fluid after childhood chicken pox, I was told I did not have a severe enough case of the "pox" to clear it out entirely. Stress only makes it worse, so I hope you can relax. As to where my shingles occured? once around rib cage, and twice around shoulder, and down my arm.
Avatar f tn The research I did said that If you are pregnant and have never had chicken pox to stay away from someone with shingles because chicken pox can cause issues with the pregnancy and baby because chicken pox is a bodily virus unlike shingles that is only in the nerve endings.
Avatar n tn Is this from having had chicken pox? There is no cure for chicken pox. It gets better on it's own (like a cold or the flu) if you have the chicken pox. Did the symptoms come on while he was ill, or after?
Avatar n tn m in college at the moment one of the other girls came in and said her little girl has chicken pox so she can carry it in here. I have had chicken pox when I was a child but I'm worried I could get shingles or something because she can carry it! Is there any truth to this?
Avatar f tn I'll make a return appointment. I asked about the cold sores in so many places but never on my lips and she said that is quite normal?
1507909 tn?1313633804 The only way that it could do anything to you is if the other person that has shingles is blistering and pus is coming out of them. If it is crusted over then it won't do anything. You just don't want to touch them directly and make sure that person is not touching or scratching them and washing their hands. If you've had chicken pox then you aren't immune to shingles.
Avatar m tn I would fully expect the swab test to be positive for Herpes type 1, if it is positive. Acyclovir can be taken for chicken pox or shingles or genital herpes or oral herpes, it works for all of these. And you can certainly take this medicine, and get a refill for future outbreaks. You may have future outbreaks, yes. It is best to start this medicine at the first sign of an outbreak.
Avatar n tn Not on my face or back just chest and arms. Could this be4 chicken pox. I just found out my niesce has chicken pox but she has them everywhere all over her body. I only have about 15 spots she has bout 200. Would chicken pox hurt d baby at 32 weeks pregnant.
Avatar m tn Hello. For about 3 hours I stayed in a house where the children had chicken pox. One of them had almost recovered and the other had just gotten the first symptoms (rash). I never came closer than a meter away from the children and in fact most of the time I stayed in a different room. Am I at risk of getting chicken pox? I am 37 years old, I was not vaccinated as a child and most probably I did not contract chicken pox when I was a kid. I would appreciate your help.
