Common Questions and Answers about Diagnosing pneumonia xray

pneumonia

Avatar n tn I was feeling pretty bad coughing wheezing, bad chest pain. My friend and I diagnosed it as brochitis or pneumonia so I took 7 Levaquin, one a day for 7 days (had it in the house). Still felt bad after a week or so and went to my doctor who prescribed same Levaquin 500 mg for 7 days. My doctor ordered chest xrays and blood work. Blood work was just a little off she said not sure what was high or low as this was told to me over the phone.

620048 tn?1358018235 I found out from my last chest xray that my pneumonia is getting better, it looked good he said. My question is how long does it take to recover from pneumonia?
Avatar f tn t the same as the group that read the second xray so there was no record of the first xray being taken. Flu/Pneumonia was never recorded in his charts which would have been a big help in knowing why they were seeing what they were seeing. As a result of all of this, they put a "stat" order on review and comparison of both xrays on Monday morning. They know about the flu and pneumonia now as well. They are then going to decide if the contrast is necessary.
Avatar m tn Do you have any symptoms of pneumonia such as fever, cough, chills , pain in the chest. If so it could be bronchitis or pneumonia. Or a variety of other things. Xrays are somewhat non specific. How do you feel besides having scanxiety? I always get that from Xrays and MRI's etc. try to take it easy.
5601163 tn?1370701672 I recently underwent a two week course of Levaquin for pneumonia. On the follow-up visit with my doctor, a chest x-ray showed "right basilar opacity," which caused my doctor to order a CT scan. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn I should also add that he had an xray about one month prior to his very first pneumonia xray. And that xray was fine.
994239 tn?1321203620 I have had high fevers, chills, and all but NO cough and NO phlegm whatsoever. The Pneumonia was diagnosed on a chest xray. Does it mean anything if I simply do not cough and have no desire to? Doesn't that infection have to come out somehow? Or can it just be that the pneumonia is only causing inflammation with no phlegm? I have been sick for 2 + weeks, and started antibiotics about a week after the onset of the chest pain, when I spiked 103 fever and chills, rapid heart rate.
Avatar f tn m 35 year old male play professional cricket never suffered wid any problem dnt get sick or even flu easily no allergies I dnt smoke dnt drink only drink beer occasionally last year went for chest xray showed scar on my right side I dnt pay attention coz they said sometime my position was not rite and recently I took it again and it showed the same then I asked my doctor about it he said may be long back I had infection or TB and it healed itself but as I remember I never suffered from any thing
Avatar f tn He was seen earlier in the week by our primary care physician and given a chest xray. Xray came back clear except for pneumonia. He has asthma as well. He now has sharp and constant neck and arm pain. Pain has been going on for two days and is concentrated mostly in the neck, but also on the left side of his forearm; both on his left side. My question, is this a cause for concern? Fever is gone. 31yo/m.
Avatar f tn You do need an Xray to check for pneumonia. For some reason alot of people are getting pneumonia right now, including me. I guess it is the weather causing it. But to be safe, I would have your lungs checked, ask for spirometry if they do not want to do an Xray to check your lung function. Obviously something is wrong otherwise you wouldnt have a cough and your doctor wouldnt have given you medicine.
Avatar n tn The fact that your chest sounds clear, a normal chest xray since the episode of pneumonia, and normal spirometry, are all things that make something significant in your lungs unlikely. Chronic cough as you describe is more likely caused by either post nasal drip (caused by allergies or chronic sinus problems), or esophageal reflux, since your lungs look and sound good. Both of these can be worse when lying down.
Avatar f tn So here I sit worrying, waiting and praying that it was just pneumonia and the spot will be gone in the next Xray or CT scan.
Avatar m tn I have all the symptoms of pneumonia. The xray came back as either pneumonia or lung cancer. Small mass found on lower left lung. Treating me for pneumonia. I will have repeat xray possible cat scan. Asking in advance. How often is this found? Can pneumonia look like lung cancer? Day two of medication and I do feel better and fever broke. I still have pains from my cough and still expereince the sweaty, hot and cold bouts but feel better despite general aches and pains.
Avatar n tn My dr did order blood tests and they were a little elevated not sure which ones were low or high. Also she ordered another xray in 3 weeks after Levaquin is completed. Symptoms were of course coughing, wheezing, really bad chest pain. I took some Levaquin at home as my friend gave it to me 7 pills. Still feeling bad finally to dr then...my doctor ordered blood work and chest x-ray and given Levaquin 500 mg 1 day for 7 days then in 3 weeks another chest xray. Thank you for your reply.
Avatar n tn I just had my pre employment exam last week, and it included the usual chest xray test. I was asked to report to the clinic this afternoon and to my surprise, they told me to undergo my chest xray again. They found scars on my lungs and that the repeat exam is needed to find out for sure if the scars are infectious or not. I have not had any history of TB or any lung or pulmonary disorder in the past. I am already 40 years old and this is not the first time I took an xray test.
Avatar f tn There they said that it was hives and they also took a chest xray because I was coughing uncontrollably. The xray came back and I was diagnosed with pneumonia. I was given an antibiotic (7 days) and prednizone (5 days) and benedryl as needed (which I took every night for about 4 nights when the hives started to flare up.) After starting the antibiotic my cough cleared up very fast! However, the hives lingered, but got slightly better each night.
250701 tn?1320974765 they gave me antibiotics, but they failed to take an xray. Come to find out Monday they took an xray and I have pneumonia. I have been home all week. Now I get to take my shot tonight and I hope it don't wipe out my immune system to bad. Dr. had to put my ribo back down to 400 until I get well. Well I'll let you know what happens tomorrow. I hope you all are doing well, God bless us all through our journey.
457438 tn?1302068407 Last day we consult the doctor again and he advised to take chest xray..After verifying xray he said there is small patches of Pneumonia and he advice us to continue the same antibiotic for some more day.But now she is having no fever but have cough. Is it enough for giving antibiotics (AMOXYLIN 125 mg) for pneumonia.
Avatar f tn How are they diagnosing the pneumonia? By sound or by x-ray? My best advice is to research, research, research, and look into every possibility. Sometimes doctors don't think outside the box because they are so busy. Also, you should check out the parent-2-parent website. Very knowledgable parents over there, of medically complex children....and some medical mysteries as well. Good luck!
182884 tn?1259312906 Hi, I am a 62 year old female, who quit smoking in 1979, hospitalized for over a month with aspiration pneumonia. Had acute bronchitis for many years, another episode pneumonia three years after this one. I recently started a new job and for three months was constantly sick with fever, productive cough and general illness.
Avatar f tn Have you had the flu lateley? or Worse Pneumonia or even Pleurisy? Need to see a Doc for a back Xray and maybe a blood test..
Avatar m tn m having a follow up xray mid July to ensure that the pneumonia has run its course - which it already has, although I still have diminished lung strength and occasional coughing (phlegm tastes utterly toxic at times - rancid). Now I have had electrical type impulses in my right lung.  Not sore, not unfortable...just a vibration like you would feel on a speaker.
Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar m tn You have good reasons to be concerned about your sister and her multiple health problems. Pain associated with her pneumonia should have eased as her pneumonia resolved. Pain at this time is not normal. The recurrence of cough and pain along with the abnormal X-ray findings of “scarring” and “a hole” in her lung suggest otherwise; that is to say that hers is what we would call complicated pneumonia. You ask, if she needs to be admitted to a hospital.
