Avatar n tn Thank you for your comments. What kind of questions should I ask him? My blood preassure used to only go up when I went into his office. The old white coat syndrome. The cholestrol hasn't gone down but he didn't seem to be concerned at first until the new standards came out. Even off the pravachol for 2 months when my husband was down last year, then going back on it showed no difference. So I do think that the medicine is not working.

21064 tn?1309308733 I could really use your help. I am trying to compile a list of common heart medications for one of the Health Pages. So many times someone asks for suggestions, about side effects, etc. It would be great to have a place closeby where we could provide a hyperlink to more information on medications common for heart patients. Will you please help me by letting me know what medication(s) you are currently taking, or what medication(s) you would like to know more about?
Avatar f tn Diabetes is a disease that takes very active management consisting of diet, exercise, weight stabilizing as well as medications. Have you worked with a diabetic educator to learn what to eat? Your doctor is your partner in this undertaking and you need to work together. Part of his job is to know which medications work together and which don't, and the pharmacist is a back-up for this as well. If you want explanations/assurances from those professionals, ask for them!
Avatar n tn Pre-surgery consultation has always included discussions about other conditions and a detailed list of all medications, vitamins, supplements, herbs, etc. that the person takes. The anesthesia choice is an important one, and is made by considering many factors including health conditions and medications, etc. Read up on the underlying condition and the recommended surgery at reputable sites such as this one: http://www.nei.nih.gov/neitrials/viewStudyWeb.aspx?
Avatar f tn Robitussin and saline nasal spray. Mske sure there is nothing else in there.
Avatar n tn Hello, Phentermine can alter your blood sugar levels, if you are going to try using it please use it with caution and monitor your blood sugar levels more frequently... if you notice changes and if your blood sugars are becoming too low then stop taking phentermine, and seek further advice about what you could use instead of phentermine. Remember that diabetes should be your priority.
Avatar n tn He has never been on any type of medication before and is now taking three different medications to control his blood pressure. In the last week he has had four episodes of extreme dizziness and difficulty with his speech. This happens about one hour after eating lunch and about six to seven hours after taking his pills. Is it possible his medication is causing this problem? How long might it take for his body to become used to his medicine?
1085545 tn?1284042254 t get rid of diabetes, but you can control it with a combination of proper diet, exercise and perhaps some oral medications if you are Type 2. You need to get much more information and perhaps meet with a diabetic educator to figure out what will work for you. Good luck. This disease can be managed with knowledge and proper attention.

Avatar f tn What do you think of this situation. I have been a T2 diabetic for 9 years. diagnosed in Colorado. Through diet and exercise I became totally controlled, BG before eating 74 to 90 and after eating , never above 180 My Dr said" If he didn't know I was a diabetic he would swear I wasn't" I moved to a different state, New Dr. He told me ( after Blood work) That I wasn't a diabetic and never had been. I argued with him , told him what my Dr in Co. had said...

620048 tn?1358018235 I've known myself to make some mistakes and my mother caught me in one or two when I used to fill her organizers. Here's what I've found helps. I keep a word document on the computer of the meds I take, dosage and at what time(s) of day. Whenever there is a change or addition to the list it is easy to make it clearly on my paper plan. I've let my husband know where to find this list in case a doctor or caregiver needs the information someday.
Avatar n tn However they depend on your body having enough of its own insulin to work. In addition, some medications work better in some people than others. Also be sure that you have made changes in your diet to help improve success in bringing your sugars down. The natural course of diabetes is to need more medications as time goes on, so it may be that you need a different regimen at this time. If your sugars continue to be high, please speak to your doctor soon about starting a different regimen.

Avatar f tn The venlaflaxine can probably be discontinued whenever you want to. I am curious as to why the acitrom was prescribed. I don't like either medication. If you have a clotting disorder the acitrom may be appropriate, but aspirin and 1000 mg of omega-3 supplements will probably accomplish just as much. If the intent was to promote circulation in your feet, I would think twice. The manufacturer of this drug spends a lot of money to promote it.
Avatar n tn I have read some of the posts on here and I am glad I am not the only one with this issue. I first noticed it when I would get out of a hot bath and into the cool air. My ankles and feet would start to itch relentlessly. I have to dig and scratch for any relief then in a few minutes after my body cools it stops. Now it is happening when I go outside and it's hot or when I come in from the heat. Some times it's my back. Its the change in temp that sets it off.
Avatar n tn He travels for work out of state and we are afraid of him going into a diabetic episode with no one around to give assistance if he goes to low to handle himself? Is there any knowledge of problems with this combination of drugs?
