Avatar f tn ask the doctor for a referral to an Endocrinologist (diabetes specialist). I also suggest you start monitoring and keeping a log of foods you consume. Log what you eat, how much you eat and how you feel directly after, 1 hour, 2 and 3 hours later. Do this for every meal, including snacks. Present this log to the endo.
Avatar n tn You can search the web for a plethora of information about diabetes and healthy diets. I would say though that she needs to watch high carbohydrates like bread and pasta. Start reading labels to get familiar with carbohydrate grams. I think 50 grams per meal is plenty, but she needs to see a diabetic nurse to help her with all that, and also you can subtract the fiber and thats helpful too. Another important factor is serving or portions of food.
Avatar f tn You have to go to the web site and log on to your profile. I think is webmd, or helpmd. Then you can download on there and it will apply to your app.
Avatar n tn An insulin pump is something you need to ask your endocronologist for help with. Blood sugar log books can be sent to you from the company that you have your meter through; just call them. Your local Diabetes Charity could probably point you in the right direction too. I'm assuming you already have a pump, but they are all different & you need to be taught how to use it properly.

Avatar n tn I lost my sliding scale card that my Diabetes (Metabolic, Endocrine, and Diabetes) doctor gave me to use because I haven't had to use my Novalog since before Christmas. I currently have a virus and my sugars are out of control. What is the recommended dosage because I don't want to give myself too much or too little.
2216055 tn?1349382305 I having been diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes, just got my meter and log book today. When I first got it, I thought it was gonna be like the end if my world, but I realize that it's only the beginning. Testing my blood sugar is going to allow me to be more conscious of what I eat and how much of what I eat. I may even shed a few lbs in the process. I am so excited. It's unfortunate that this is what it took for me to open my eyes but thru this circumstance I can see the light :).
