1281603 tn?1283798699 I would like to add to that advice that diabetic complications are very real and to encourage everyone diagnosed with either form of diabetes or even pre-diabetes to take responsibility to monitor and control your blood sugars on a daily basis. We tend to trust doctors to keep us well and especially here in the U.S. we rely on medication for EVERYTHING. No doctor can follow us around 24/7 and make sure we eat right, exercise, maintain healthy weight and take the meds they actually prescribe.
Avatar m tn I tested myself with diabetes test kit and result was negative. And I used my dad blood pressure machine and my blood pressure were normal. I am really worried. Pls help me!
1888358 tn?1320969676 Hello, I'm new to this forum, but thought I'd ask a couple of questions. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with Type 2 Diabetes (I'm 33), and I've never really been under good control. I have been prescribed Metformin, but it always makes me so sick (Low Blood Sugar feeling as well as diarrhea) so inevitably I stop taking it. My first question is, does anyone know how long it typically takes for these side effects to subside?
Avatar n tn I was told that I have high sugar levels, but never diagnosed with diabetes.
Avatar n tn Also, this a diabetes forum. Sorry, we do not know how to respond to knee issues unless its related to diabetes.
4756437 tn?1358790419 do a blood test, and if it is please take care of yourself, diabetes is very hard on the body if left uncontrolled. Also I found that toward the beginning of the end, I would have small throw ups, the Dr.
Avatar f tn The store kits work quite well, but require a bit more blood that is required from normal finger sticks. Many clinics provide free diabetic screening. If you have diabetes, you MUST be under a physician's care.
Avatar f tn Go to the Dr immediately though if you have any redness, pain, abnormal color etc. Foot care is very important for anyone who has diabetes.
Avatar f tn They prescribe it to you my insurance covered it so it didn't cost me anything.
Avatar f tn I'm diabetic. My cat walked over my foot, her toe nail dug into my big toe next to nail. Have celluitis now as result and on antibiotic. Urgent care doctor told me if it doesn't get better in 5 days to call my doctor to be scene. Toe looks worse to me today, Monday 7-30 been on antibiotic since late Sat. evening. Is this enough time to expect improvement or should I just wait until 5 days passes to see what happens or do I call doctor today?

1538715 tn?1294142416 Hi there, The quickest and pretty accurate and also inexpensive way to find out if you are diabetic is purchasing a A1C home test kit at Walgreen or at Target. This kit is called A1C NOW, I use them several times and the results are pretty accurate. The cost is $30 or less for 2 times uses. I hope you the best.
Avatar f tn Hello, As your husband is a diabetic and moreover there is a soft sore on the foot,so the possibility of diabetic foot is there. Diabetic foot is an umbrella term for foot problems in patients with diabetes mellitus. To prevent diabetic foot ulcers,he should have good foot hygiene, wear diabetic socks and shoes, and avoid injury.A consultation of a podiatrist will be the best. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how your husband is doing or if you have any additional doubts.
961466 tn?1247550382 I would be asking your Dr for the glucagon kit so that you can rectify your wife's lows when she is not able to. Using glucose tablets, even glucose syrup plus calling an ambulance when you need to is important. Its one thing to think you're okay or try to ignore the problems but you are obviously worried. I don't mean to appear rude but does your wife deal okay with actually having diabetes?
Avatar m tn Treatment of nails and lesions/ foot care is medically necessary to be rendered by a podiatrist.
Avatar f tn Mainly in his arm and his foot. I do not know if I am at the right forum, but I have always heard that burning and numbness in hands and feet is a sign of diabetes!!!!??? Anyone ever experience these sensations before? If it is serious we will go to the doc but it is hard because we have no insurance and cannot afford it. Should we go anyway?
Avatar f tn You need to get a diabetes kit, take your blood sugar 2 times a day 2hrs after dinner (number should b below120)and first thing in the morning (should be below 90) stay away from fruit juices and things with high sugar.
Avatar f tn I am a 61 yr old woman. For about 2 years I have had type 2 adult onset diabetes. Food mangement with Metformin and Glyburide. MG. usually 80- 140. Yesterday I was sick with flu like symptoms including a fever and chills. I slept off and on for 36 hrs while getting up to eat what I could. My left foot and ankle have been swelling for about 3 yrs and more so for the last yr as I now sit more at work.
Avatar n tn I believe you asked about HYPOglycemia: The symptoms are vary varied and might include dizziness, feeling generally out of it, fatigue, irritability, disorientation, tingling. Testing is the key as if your numbers have been high for awhile you will feel low even if you're not. You should treat any lows below 60 (some treat below 70) with a couple glucose tablets. You will learn the correct number for you.
