Avatar f tn I love the poll on meds! Many of us have sought connections between MS and other health issues. Let's develop a list of other health issues and then poll the forum. What issues should we include? 1. thyroid 2. tachycardia/arrhythmia 3. hypertension 4. diabetes 5. gall bladder 6. arthritis 7. psoriasis 8. I'm drawing a blank, but I know there are other issues mentioned frequently on the forum?????

Avatar f tn Unfortunately, this can be a common side effect of these types of medications, but in my opinion, you can definitely adjust to it and enjoy your sex life. How long have you been on the medication? Remember that they can take a little while to 'kick in.' Also, I agree with you that if you feel that you need to be on it, then you are doing the right thing.
Avatar f tn You must be reeling from the double whammy, and though it's for less than happy reasons, welcome to the forum. It's not unusual for folks with hep c to also have diabetes... experts believe that their may be an increased incidence of diabetes in hep c patients. In regards to your liver biopsy, it should not only measure grade (degree of inflammation) but also stage (amount of fibrosis). With 'fibrosis, you could be stage 2 or 3...
280418 tn?1306325910 Hope75, the presentations from the recent IDSA review are online. There are a lot of references given that would be useful for your literature review. In particular, see the presentation given by Dr. S. Phillips. His whole talk was pretty much a summary of peer-reviewed research on chronic Lyme. http://www.idsociety.org/Content.aspx?
Avatar m tn Citalopram is a racemate consisting of a 1:1 mixture of the R(-)- and S(+)-enantiomers. Non-clinical studies show that the serotonin reuptake inhibitory activity of citalopram is attributable to the S-enantiomer, escitalopram. A series of recent non-clinical and clinical studies comparing escitalopram and citalopram to placebo found that equivalent doses of these two drugs, i.e. containing the same amount of the S-enantiomer, showed better effect for escitalopram.
1382194 tn?1279244453 I feel like getting up earlier, doing things I have been putting off, and I am even less achy!Stress depletes the body of mg, and mg deficiency causes depression as well as other mental illnesses, heart disease, and complications from diabetes.
Avatar n tn It occured to me that i had been urinating a lot lately. I think that is a symptom of diabetes. I have also had periods of weakness, feeling nauseous and dizzy. I have also greatly increased in my appetite. I almost hungry all the time, and i ranging in losing a few pounds to gaining them back again. I was told by my doctor 2 years ago that i was at risk for developing diabetes, 2 of my aunts (blood related) have diabetes. Would i have an increased risk?
Avatar n tn In this letter she asked about depression and diabetes, and listed several symptoms of depression that her son was experiencing. Among the symptoms was Self Loathing. Having been diagnosed Type 1 fourtyseven years ago at 5 yrs. of age, I can relate to the self loathing, feeling embarrased, and generally "different than". I appear here not with a question, but a suggestion based on experience. I know that the time I spent at summer camp in Southern Calif.
Avatar n tn Review the link below and it will put your mind at ease. Take care. http://www.drmirkin.com/heart/2134.
Avatar f tn Medication alone can but does not fix depression. I would suggest your friend start going regularly to a therapist, which they should be doing anyway bacau we depression medication is tricky. Sometime it isn't effective sometimes it just stops working and a lot of the time it's the wrong medication for the person. Let your friend know that your worried about them and tell them to go get help.
Avatar n tn Thank you once again. She does not have diabetes nor pre-existing diabetes. She is not eating well; no appetite but does eat a bit three times a day of good nutrition. She only had the one round of chemo, a week's worth and she is on no other meds but for sleep, depression and blood pressure. She is managing the tremors and they do improve at times. Thank you for your help.
250143 tn?1320170629 m doing the work I need to do to help me manage the long term effects of complex trauma, and how they effect the internal dynamics of my psyche and relationships with others in the present. It's important work. Maybe the root of the lack of motivation is somewhere in when I was little, and noone really noticed me at school [well, they ignored severe bullying for a decade, so I may as well have been invisible... ] and I never got much praise.
Avatar n tn I am curious to know if you can direct me to any literature on the fact that Type 1 Diabetes is not an issue with HSV2, so that I may show him? Thanks again.
Avatar n tn this sounds like a side effect from medicine. my niece has bi polar and the pills they put her on makes her arm jerk and very nauseated and some more of your symptons.
Avatar f tn Does she like movies, or writing, or gardening, something that lets her know and feel all the time that the part of diabetes is not her entire life, or essentially her ..(maybe that is why she is depressed?) I'm not sure if this may help out at all...i wish her the very, very best and hope she can find happiness as I'm sure she maybe has in the past at some point..good luck and maybe see you on here again....
Avatar f tn I personally know of no experts in fungal sinusitis but a review of the literature suggests that the authors of the following abstract, situated at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia, may have an abiding interest in this disease. I suggest that you not consult with a “3rd ENT here in Central Il”. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Authors Full Name: Lanza, Donald C. Dhong, Hun-Jong.
405614 tn?1329144114 bought a can of tomatoes for the stew (all the prep I did for the stew) and a new brush for Fluffy. I drove across the street to pick up his meds, then drove home, threw the laundry in the dryer, heated up two hotdogs for lunch, then laid on the bed and read, grumbling when the dryer buzzed. I called in the Rx for Avonex when their automated system called me and hung up; I did a call-back, and ordered my Avonex and thinner needles.
Avatar n tn Hi Kumar, I am not a doctor, therefore I cannot answer your question in any scientific/medical terms. Your best bet would be to check with a doctor or peruse professional medical literature to find more specific explanations. My understanding of insulin resistance is narrowed down to the basic concept, which is that in insulin resistance patients the muscle, fat and liver cells don't use insulin properly causing excess glucose to bulid up in the blood.
Avatar m tn To critically review the literature on liver injury because of DSs, delineating patterns and mechanisms of injury and to increase the awareness towards this cause of acute and chronic liver damage.
Avatar n tn I would suggest a healthy diet limiting the fats and sweets, lots of exercise, and on the next visit to the doctor, ask to speak with a pediatric dietitian. I would be careful of fast foods and make them the exception, not the rule. You are definitely on the right track in helping your four year old before he develops type 2 and will even help your eight year old by learning healthy eating habits.
Avatar f tn Increased appetite could a sign of low blood sugar, diabetes, depression and anxiety. Diabetes can be ruled out since you have checked his sugar and there seems to be no problem with his blood sugar since he is active. Check his emotional state. If he is happy as before and does not experience mood swings and isnt under the influence of any intoxicants then any sort of depression can be ruled out. The only thing that i can advice right now, is a thyroid test.
Avatar m tn Lucky I had lost a bunch of weight prior to that surgery...and I had started on a walking campaign about a year and a half prior to the surgery. Anyway, second liver metastasis was in 2006. My oncologist (at that time) urged me to stop doing the PET scans every four to six months as I had been doing. He said I just didn't need them so often. Believe it or not, I got one a few months after that visit, and, BOOM, there was the second liver metastasis.
