Avatar f tn Some people with Diabetes Type 2 need oral medications and others need insulin. (Type 2 diabetes means they don't produce enough insulin. Type 1 means they don't produce ANY insulin.
Avatar n tn I'm also diagnosed type II diabetes, but no meds or symptoms. Diet and Exercise with some supplements has given me consistently good tests. For all these conditions, I still feel just fine every day. If I didn't know I had them, I wouldn't know I had them! Any comments appreciated.
Avatar f tn it is a data gathering exercise FOR THEM...not you or even your study team. We are all asked to sign a fairly extensive contract with the drug company prior and such has many clauses in it to protect the company and to state to the participant very clearly what they want to be able to do and not do. This protects them from legal action. Interesting how we will always take a real estate contract to a lawyer to peruse ..

Avatar f tn I am a type 2 diabetic that SVRrd. Although I had a slow response during the first treatment, the second time I cleared relatively early, and went on to achieve sustained viral response. I think part of the misunderstanding here is that some members on this board have become obsessed by insulin resistance, and look at it as if it were a panacea to HCV treatment; but it doesn’t *preclude* SVR; it’s only another hurdle to jump on the path.
Avatar m tn I have diabetes type 2 and have to take a pill a day for it. My glucose levels have all been stable for 4 years now and it hasn't affected my QOL at all up to this point. We all know that our QOL also deteriorates as we age. Its natural and one has to be careful not to blame every little ill, ache, or pain to HCV when the known symptoms of aging mimic many symptoms of HCV exactly.

Avatar n tn Insulin resistance is one of those things that a person with diabetes may or may not be. If a person with type 2 diabetes is overweight, losing weight and eating properly may be enough to control blood sugar. That person is not necessarily insulin resistant. :) But yes, having high blood sugar can cause neuropathy. It can also cause gastroparsesis, slow gastric emptying... That can result in abnormal absorption. I have type 1 diabetes and definitely am not insulin resistant.

I am on hydrocortisone 3 times a day, and before the surgery i was diagnosed with hypersomnia, because i couldnt seem to stay awake. I would wake up, and about 1 to 2 hours later I will fall asleep. 545538 tn?1295995617 org/personal_pages/user/568322 the bottom line is that even mild insulin resistance (type 2 diebetes), even a fasting glucose that is say 10 or 20 points above normal, can reduce the chances of a cure by 10% or more. Since many with mild IR don't treat for it, this lowers the chances of the group. This is because higher blood sugar means insulin resistance, means more insulin is produced to compensate, and insulin interferes with Interferon. The higher the untreated IR, the lower the cure rate.
181575 tn?1250202386 I am reposting articles / summaries on the treatment management of chronic HepB. "cajim" located these articles which are quite informative. I thought about putting them on a seaprate Health Page but didn't think it was appropriate since we didn't write them. Let's make this a sort of "Unofficial Research Thread" or "URT" for this type of information. Let's keep this URT free of comments.
