I just went to the GYN and got my annual pelvic exam and my first shot of depo and so far everything has been okay. However, once I didn't get my period I started to worry and I took a pregnancy test just in case and it did come out negative. I think doctors should explain the complications of even possibly having low thyroid levels after taking Depo Provera instead of hair loss/ weight gain. I was only 18 2 years ago when I had the shot and never had another shot afterwards. Yeah it was the easiest BC and I didn't have to worry about a thing for 3 months but now I have to take Synthroid every day for the rest of my life. That was the worst thing I could have ever done to my body.

I am little confused by your question. The depo provera shot is given once every three months not for three months at some unspecified interval. If you mean that you received the depo shot 4 months ago, and hence, the last month, you did not get a repeat depo shot, then the answer to your question is, yes, you can get pregnant. I was on the depo shot for about 5 years before stopping to try to conceive. It took me 3 years to conceive my son who is 6 years old.

i have been ttc for 2 years after being on depo for 2 and a half years and i blame depo 100%, i had irregular periods for months after coming off of it, pains etc. It is only now i'm getting a normal 28-32day cycle, this also causes bone damage the longer the use of depo the more prolonged the problems a lot of woman may agree with me on this one.

One thing I noticed during my internet search was a number of results discussing Depo Provera and how it has caused the onset of early menopause in women even in their 20’s. Some of the symptoms you describe are those of hyperthyroidism such as hunger pangs and weight loss and stomach discomfort.

I also felt achy when I happened to workout really hard and when I lost weight, I guess depo is stored in fat cells, so losing weight released what depo i had stored up. On the upside I stopped having nightmares and feeling too warm at night. Good luck!

It is important to take a calcium supplement while using depo provera. Weight gain is probably the worst side effect. Hope this helps!

I was on depo for a year and a few months stopped it and began planning for a child. I was told it can take up to a year however at eight months post depo I got my periods back, two months later I got my bfp. So it just deffers from person to person. If you think you could already be pregnant test four to five weeks after possible conception.

has taken me off the Depo Shots and I was put on Birth Control Pills. The blood was very dark red and blood clots. I was given an altrsound was told nothing was wrong. Is this normal with the Depo Provera?

I have read at length about many different side effects of Depo-Provera and though I never experienced hair loss as a symptom I understand that can occur after a period of treatment. I have also read about the effects of hormones and their influence on each other and am hoping that this is an isolated incident due to the ever changing flux in my hormone levels recently.

The mini-pill is less effective than regular preparations. Depo-provera is effective, but watch out for weight gain that could worsen blood pressure issues, and take calcium supplements in addition. Hope this helps!

I have been off Depo-Provera for 11 months now and still haven't conceived. Every month i have the same symptoms you are describing and every month i have the same negative result. I was also told afetr i came off the injection it could take me anything from a year to 2 years to conceive.

I was on Depo for 3 years, then got off and the next month got AF right on time, then got on Nuvaring for three months. I didn't like the weight gain w/this one either (10lbs) so I got off. It took 3 cycles to become pregnant, and we WERENT trying. Ihad been using fertility awareness. So far KNOCK ON WOOD!!! I'm 15w today!. It may be the projesterone, or just your body not acclimated to being pregnant yet since the Shot makes your body think it's pregnant.
