Crestor and diarrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Crestor and diarrhea

crestor

This question is for my Mom. She is having frequent urgent diarrhea (6-7 times per day). Not sure how "loose" the bowel movement is. Claims no pain with the movement. History: 82 yr old female, general good health, taking Crestor, Keppra, Celebrex, Actinol, linisopril HCL, recently widowed, last colonoscopy 2009 where dr said come back in 5 years. Last time in hospital was 2001 where a meningioma was removed (thus the Keppra). Total success on that.
It may be more likely that the Crestor is causing the joint and muscle pain. However I am not a doctor and therefore cannot analyze your disease states or conditions remotely. Best of luck to you. Jennifer R RPh www.drugstore.

My pains started after i started medication. does any of my prescriptions also affect the liver also? Any comments would be appreciated.
As I age other symptoms and problems have been cropping up, namely high blood pressure, high cholesterol, depression, joint aches and pains, and weight gain. The standard treatment I have received has been blood pressure meds, statins (which I stopped soon after starting due to muscle pain) various ACE inhibitors and beta blockers, anti-depressants and the old 'eat less move more' advice.
that seems to set me off, but mostly diarrhea./. I just try and stay away from, foods that irritate my system.. I have tried staying away from gluten, yeast, sulphites, but its so hard to know, as some foods have hidden ingredients.. This is the first time I have experienced the yellow diarrhea or stool.. I had to take a pill yesterday so I could sing at an Easter celebration, and have not gone since.. not sure what to do at this point.. any suggestions?
It sounds like you are dealing with many emotional and physical issues, and I am sorry that your question cannot be answered in this forum. I hope that you find the answers that you are seeking.
I'm 34, male, slightly overweight. For the last month, I've had the weird sensation of feeling really faint when I come to a STOP after walking a short distance. While I'm walking, I'm completely fine. I stop (like, waiting for an elevator), and then for at least 30 seconds, I feel like I might faint. I had chest pains two months ago, followed by normal EKGs and a normal heart stress test.
A few weeks ago I got on a plane and it was so hot I became flushed, nauseated and thought I would vomit or have diarrhea. It got so bad I had to leave my seat during the landing and head for the restroom. I never did get sick but the feeling did not go away even after I departed the plane. Currently I get periodic flushing or pressure behind my ears. Sort of like an altitude change. I get a mettalic taste in my mouth.
If you are on a very high dose of Niaspan then less common side effects can be fever, diarrhea, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting, headache and rash. But my husband is on 500mg with no problem. I don't know what they consider a high dose. The Niaspan is only really for lowering your Triglycerides not the cholesterol. The new data that has come out shows it doesn't really work on the cholesterol only the triglycerides. The cough, and sore throat are not symptoms of Niaspan.
While these medications are safe for people, even one or two pills can cause serious harm to a pet. Dogs, cats, birds and other small mammals (ferrets, gerbils and hamsters) may develop serious stomach and intestinal ulcers as well as kidney failure. 2) Acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol) When it comes to pain medications, acetaminophen (e.g. Tylenol) is certainly popular. Even though this drug is very safe, even for children, this is not true for pets—especially cats.
Doctors are dumbfounded and tend to blame it all on the Diabetes, but that is a totally different feeling. I am considering the magnesium and asking the doctor if I can stop the Crestor for a few days and see if that makes a difference. I don't have my gall bladder, so I don't know if I should try the flush, but I'm open to all ideas.
* Halcion, Versed, Valium, Xanax and quazepam * Norvir * Zoloft and Lustral * Statins such as Lipitor, Mevacor, Zocor, Simlup, Simcor, Simvacor, with the exception of Pravachol. Lescol and Crestor which are unaffected by grapefruit.
Yesterday I could not cope with the pains and the bleeding anymore and I decided to call the ob/gyn. I went to her office and she did an ultrasound. It happens to be that my endometrium is still thick after the D&C. After deliberating with another collegue she decided that I have to wait and see if my own body is going to get rid of the thick endometrium. Has anyone here have any experience with this? I have to mention that I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2004. Never got pregnant.
You describe your stomach as a dull, constant ache. I, myself was on hydros (WAY more than you per day) and I didn't experience the same thing you are describing. You said you have been off the opiates for a month. My gastrointestinal tract took some time to re-adjust to being off opiates but I wasn't on any other meds that "can" affect your GI tract. If I were in your shoes, I'd talk to your dr. about this if it continues to bother you.
I take multi meds, celexa 40mg, ativan 2 mg 3 times a day ,geadon 40mg 2 times a day. v.b12, fishoil, metformin 500 mg 2 times a day, crestor 10 mg, wellbutrin 200mg, vyvanse70mg, and estradiol 2 mg.
All folow up scans have been normal. I am diabetic and taking Glucophage, Zestril and Crestor along with Fish oils, baby asprin, vitamin E, B 50, Slo-niacin, soya lecithin, Centrum. I have been taking these medication for over 5 years now.
Sometimes they are just a mild annoyance, other times they are really strong. They can cause diarrhea, but not always. I practice controlled breathing to relax, and try to occupy my time with other things in order to take my mind off the moment and not dwell on the ill feelings. They do not happen everyday, although they have started happening more frequently. I am not depressed (that I know of) and not really under a lot of stress at work or home.
He checked my cholesterol again and found that my good cholesterol level had fallen below the base figure. He changed me from simvastatin to Crestor Rouvastain 10mg each night, and they don't give me any side effects and my good cholesterol has started to rise again. The one thing I have learnt is to take them before i go to sleep at night.
exhaustion, sudden weight gain, foggy thinking, depression, chest pains ( tightness, pressure, and sometimes a twisting feeling going towards left arm bit and arm), chronic bronchial cough that has shown up every so often past three months following a serious case of bronchitis (inhaler helps when my lungs feel constricted and it's hard to breath, but I've never been diagnosed with asthma), brittle hair/nails, dry skin, psoriasis flare ups, particularly on cheeks and bridge of nose as well as s
PED, Thanks for posting. 1. They did a nuclear stress echo with exercise, said everything looked normal. EF 60%. How often do false negatives show up? Its complex, but the frequency of false negative and positive test is based on the probability of the person undergoing the test having coronary disease. In you, with several risk factors, the test would be generally fairly accurate.
In the end of June, his doctor changed his Uloric to Allopurinol, 300 mg, 1x/day and that was when he got in trouble. The Allopurinol caused upset stomach and diarrhea. It also brought on a gout attack and apparantly he was taking quite a bit of Tylenol to manage the pain. He went to the ER and was told that he was bleeding internally and had an anal fissure. He got the fluid in the knee drained, was given a shot of cortisone, a prescription for Prednisone, and Percocet for the pain.

My LMP was around November 10, 2005. Ever since then I've been having headaches, backaches, stomach cramps, nausea & vomiting, sweats, nipple discharge, and CM. I went to the doctor and my nipple discharge was in fact milk. I've taken several HPT and they all have come back negative. I have had 2 blood tests which both beta hCG came back as <2 mIU/mL. My prolactin level went from 5.9 to 8.7 ng/mL in a week. I have heard that some womens hCG cant be detected for a couple months.
So I went home and saw my family doctor as soon as I could get an appointment (7/28/08). She put me on crestor for my cholesterol and low dose aspirin to thin my blood. On 7/31/08 at 11:30pm I again awoke with a gasp. My symptoms were the same, with the addition of the left side of my face felt saggy also, and my hands felt bulky. Again my daughter took me to the ER. I spent another 13 hours in the ER and was finally admitted.
I'm post menopausal, 55 heathy, high blood pressure, on Crestor, Altace HTC, Bisoprolol Fumarate, and low dose aspirin...Caltrate plus can't think of anything else I take, except for drinking a few glasses of homemade red wine and a bottle of Fuze daily. I hope that with all our input we can all help to put a name to our problem.
Constipated and/or diarrhea. I complained for years and had tests done only on the feces and it came back negative. But no matter what I eat, there is always a problem. I am not regular and very gassy. Now my biggest complaint is dizziness every morning; ringing in my right ear; an internal shaking that I can't describe. If someone holds my right hand they can feel the shaking. If I get nervous or upset, this weird feeling comes over me as well inside.
I've been taking Crestor for 3 or 4 months and have not had probems up until 2 weeks ago. Could this be a possible issue?? Has anyone else just tried changing to a better matress??
