My daughter is 13 years old and has been suffering with a terrible headache for about 2 weeks this time. She has had bouts of headaches off and on for 1 1/2 years. About 2 years ago, she was hit in the head with the handle bar of a bicycle, resulting in 12 staples in her head. They did not do a ct on her but said that she didn't suffer from a concussion. Her pediatrician has said that she can suffer from side effects for a year or so. Is this true?

I am by no means an expert, but I have heard plenty of stories of people with concussions having lasting effects. Did your son's doctor mention Post Concussion Syndrome? Perhaps your son's ability to absorb impacts to the head is compromised.

Hi I am sixteen and was just diagnosed with chiari after receiving a concussion. After lifting a chair, I started shaking all throughout my body and it became hard to walk. It's almost three days since that happened and my hands are still shaking. This has happened once before but went away that day. Im not sure as to what this means and I can't tell if it is anxiety or chiari progression. Advice would be appreciated greatly!
I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture.

Mostly hematomas formed after a head injury soon in case of children,but as your grandson is having signs of concussion or a raised intracranial pressure(most probably due to a subdural hematoma)it needs to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon immediately.An x-ray or CT head is advisable.
Pls don’t listen to your daughter as your grandson needs immediate evaluation.

Loss of consciousness isn’t required for a diagnosis of concussion or post concussion syndrome. Post concussion syndrome occurs within first 7 to 10 days and until 3 months. Symptoms are variable including dizziness, fatigue, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, loss of concentration and memory, light and noise sensitivity, headache varying from a tension type to cluster headaches. You need to consult a neurologist immediately.

I got a concussion about 3 months ago at a cheer competition when a girl fell and elbowed me in the face. I didn’t get knocked unconscious but I blacked out for 3 or 4 seconds. Immediately after my performance I went to the athletic trainer who performed an assessment and asked what my symptoms were. Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state.
As far as my experience goes, a hit with a base ball bat should cause some short term problems like concussion and post concussion symptoms. But if there was no unconsciousness, nausea or vomiting, a serious brain damage is ruled out.

Had a concussion several weeks ago with instant headache & nausea which have gotten worse. Already had 2 CT scans without contrast, showing they were normal. The headaches and nausea are pretty bad daily, have gotten worse since the concussion.
I'm now scheduled for an MRI scan, should I do it with or without contrast. Have read so many negative things about getting it with the contrast.
I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.
Ok so about 7-8 months ago I suffered a concussion and was off work for quite a time I am getting back to it now.
My question is can suffering a concussion cause depression and suicidal thoughts as well as self harm? Basically when I was a teenager I was suicidal and a cutter and haven't done anything like that since, until I got the concussion and a few months into the treatment etc I started cutting again and feeling suicidal.
I have begged him to go back to a doctor to get his concussion checked out but he refuses. Does it sound like he needs to seek medical help for the concussion considering he never received any after-care and continued to drink on the concussion? It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".

my name is gaurav and iam 16 years old about a month ago I,met an bike accident and i got mild head injury on my head had vomiting and was unable to remember what happened just before and after my accident then next day when i woke up my vision was blurred and there was ringing in my ears and i was unable to watch television and was sensitive to light and loud noise I thought that it was due to my head and kept on fighting with my symptoms watched television gone to school for about 10 days the
a few years back the same thing happened to me but i felt fine right after only a slight headache this was wen i was 12 im now 16 and have been okay although ive had migraines for awhile to and the heavy head but apart from that im fine however if it really does bother you see your doctors they can give u something to feel better.
