concussion

Avatar n tn what does it mean when you slip and fall and hit your head off the floor and now you are having shooting pain throughout your head, neck, and jaw. And also you are very dizzy and shaking?
Avatar f tn I was in a collision with another person in april 2010 i had a concussion and bruised jaw and have been going to the chiropractor ever since. my concern is that i still have jaw pain that extends from my temple through my ears and into my jaw. i get headaches occasionally and sometimes have pain when i open my mouth too far...what to do?
Avatar f tn Saturday night I was going to a friends house in Long Island and it had just snowed but it was then raining at the moment. I was walking down a ramp of the house and I slid down flat on my behind and banged the back of my head on the wooden ramp. The center of the back of my head hurts if you touch it but there is no lump there which I find unusual. The crazy part is that my front and back of the neck feels stiff as well as my jaw. It hurts so much even if I sneeze.
Avatar m tn If you have pain persisting in temple area and get pain on opening your mouth wide, you are probably suffering from TMJ or temporomandibular joint disorder due to the injury. In this your jaw joint is inflamed and causes pain in temple area with dizziness. To get some relief you can try massaging the sore muscles. You have to press on muscles of your face to look for sore points. Then massage these points with short strokes.
Avatar f tn CTE can be caused by concussions and subconcussive impacts to the brain. What exactly is a subconcussive impact? After getting an elbow to the jaw by my nephew (while 20weks pregnant) I became very anxious about concussions. Either because of hormones or a concussion... my anxiety went into overdrive. To help convince myself it wasn't a big deal, I kept hitting my jaw (like 5 knocks) in that same place with my knuckles throughout the day. Ridiculous I know.
Avatar n tn If she had a concussion she would have nausea and be feeling tired, if she has fractured her jaw there will be considerable pain and some swelling, also the passing out should be looked into, had she eaten before mass? . If she is not well today take her to the ER to make sure shes okay ..
Avatar f tn At times a subdural hematoma develops slowly and may be missed on the first MRI. Also concussion can cause persisting headaches and should be allowed to slowly subside before active sports are considered. Injury to neck, to jaw bone, and even eyes should be considered. Get his eye sight also checked. May be the headaches are because he needs spectacles. -Take care!

435918 tn?1204737341 m kind of fed up and tired of feeling this way... headache, fatigue, jaw pain, etc. I am supposed to see a neurologist on 3/13, but the girl in his office said not to tell him I had been involved in a MVA because he won't see me if he knows. I just don't know where to go from here. I've never been hurt in a MVA before and just feel like I'm getting the "run around" from everyone. Do you have any suggestions for me? I sure would appreciate some advice. Thank you.
Avatar m tn t remember the medical term for it) were athletes who took many shots to the head over many years and played while they had the concussion/still had concussion symptoms. AND before we knew about the seriousness of injuries to the brain. There is a reason why in sports today that people need to pass concussion protocol tests before they are allowed to return to activity. I suppose I'm trying to relate this to sports as you talked about boxing.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend shifted positions in bed last night and his arm forcefully collided with my jaw/chin. It really hurt my jaw initially and it still feels pretty tense with a dull ache on that side about an hour later. I have tmj and that's the side of my jaw that pops in place the most so that of course doesn't help. However, I know habe a headache on that side of my head. Should I be concerned that the blow Could be given me a Concussion?
Avatar f tn For the past week I have had a very bad headache on my right side. On a daily basis I get pulsing and sharp pain. The top of my head on my right side is really, really sensitive to the touch and it goes all the way down to my face. Around my cheek bone and jaw area. I'm not sure what this is but any help I can get would really be appreciated. Thank you in advance for taking time to respond to my question.
Avatar n tn In the last 3 years I have been getting sevre headaches and they stem from the base of my skull. I have tried over the counter pain meds and chiropratic but nothing works. The headaches have gotten a lot more sevre in the last month. I went to my family Dr and he ordered a CT scan and a MRI. I did my CT scan on Saturday and the Dr called to say that there is bruising on my brain but it is not near the pain at the base of my skull.
Avatar n tn yes he should go 2 the hospital i suffered a severe blow 2 head a couple of years ago & numbness 2 the hands was one of my 1st indicators that something was very wrong , your brother doesnt sound as serious but should really be checked out. good luck hope all turns out well.
Avatar f tn I know the symptoms I have are a part of the concussion but they are bad (bec I already have the chiari symptoms) and it has been since Friday and I still feel HORRIBLE! I see a chiari specialist at the end of the month but in the mean time could this hitting my head on the wall possibly made things worse? (I did not have a ct for the concussion, the dr. just diagnosed me by my symptoms and what happened).

Avatar f tn I do not remember going back into the house or anything. The next day when I woke up my jaw hut and my eye on the side I hit my head was so red it looked as if someone had painte it blood red. But I could see. I drove my self tpo the emergency room because I am and was unemployed. CAT ws done and appeared to be fine, but.... my depth perception is off and if I am exhausted I stutter, and ( I know this will sound really odd) when I am reading I know the words but I do not.
1524559 tn?1291410896 I have suffered from severe chest pains, tender points, pain up my right side of my neck, right jaw, fingers, my toes feel like they will snap off sometimes, the edge of chairs hurt the back of my legs and now I have been waking up at night with severe leg cramps & toe cramps. In addition, I have noticed in the last three weeks or so my left eye has been twitching often and these past few days, throughout the entire day. Are these truly all Fibromyalgia related?
1427258 tn?1282925864 I have and continue to have loss of facial muscle expression on my whole face, Pain in the L side of my head, pain behind both eyes with pressure and swelling, more pressure if I get upset, constant headaches, numbness to the L side of my face that comes and goes, pain that radiates to the mastoid bone, upper and lower L jaw and then down my neck. My eyes are swollen, the whites are blood shot. I look like a completely different person. I have a disc pressing into my spinal cord in c5-6.
Avatar n tn Hello Dale, I am so very sorry to hear that you have had so many head traumas and are in pain. We can relate to chronic pain. It is disruptive to our lives and brings us many challenges. You are always Welcome in the Pain Mangement Community but I encourage you to also post in our Migraines and Headache Forum. Avatar m tn She gags at any food presented to her and I wonder if perhaps her olfactory bulbs were damaged from the primary injury, but tons of online reading leads me to think that cats are picky eaters and gagging specifically has been seen in both jaw injury and also concussions, which my cat has both. In reading other posts I have seen others having success with placing small chunks of boiled foods in the cat's mouth.
Avatar n tn i got hit on my head with something metal and now it hurts and its kinda tender in the middle and now i have a cold and my nose have dried up blood in it what does it mean
Avatar n tn But, I never had the bottom of my feet stop hurting, burning feeling Now 32yrs later, I was mugged, beaten and have suffered a serious concussion, my feet are hurting me more and the burning pain has gotten worst i read now that those that get GB have blood transfer, etc...........
Avatar f tn Emotional distress can cause some of the symptoms you describe. For instance, does the pain go away if you lie down and relax? These symptoms can also be from long-standing degenerative problems that had nothing to do with your concussion. You would be wise to follow up with your personal doctor who can order an Xray to see what's going on in there.
Avatar m tn I think I aggravated my neck several times since the initial injury and developed some significant pain/stiffness in my upper back and neck. This stiffness/pain caused my head to hurt wherever it made contact with the pillow. I've seen two athletic therapist, two RMTs, a physiotherapist and a chiropractor. I've had some relief with these therapies but the issue has remained.
Avatar n tn I have frequent jaw pain, jaw numness and jaw that crack when I chew on something at some point. I saw a dentist lately and he told me that everithing is normal with my teeth an jaw on the x-ray. I also have pain in my ears due to that! My best guess whould be that it is a Chiari symptome.
Avatar f tn Alright so I woke up today and found that I have sore spot or soft spot on my head. If you touch it, it hurts. My health history is pretty complicated. I have Psoriasis, TMJ, an out of aligned jaw (I'm getting corrective jaw surgery soon for it), a very minor case of arthritis (it's off and on), and some other more minor issues. I've also had off and on (more on than off) headaches the last couple of months.
