Concussion and ear pain

Common Questions and Answers about Concussion and ear pain

concussion

Avatar f tn At first I`d wake up feeling like my husband had accidently punched me in the head during the night. And I noticed that my hearing was diminished in that ear. The ear wax is more watery and at times looks a little greenish with the yellow. The pain is intermittent but when it comes it stays for days and is a bothering dull pain. If I press on the spot the pain doesn`t change but I do have a spot that is more sensitive when pressed (like a bruise would feel).

Avatar f tn I play softball in college and about 3 weeks ago i was hit in the head with a bat right above my left ear. My coach gave me a concussion test and my head was hurting pretty bad throughout the day. The next day it wasnt bothering me too bad so I didnt go to the doctor to see if i did have a concussion. Well ever since that weekend, i have pressure headaches on the right side of my head.
Avatar m tn i have pain in the right back side of head, and had a concussion caused by a head injury four months ago and have been getting this pain off and on since the concussion, is that normal to feel this pain?
Avatar n tn m a little nervous about this and just wanted to know the general odds or percentages when you have a concussion and your smell/taste and hearing come back. Thank you.
Avatar f tn Probably you had a concussion and having Post Concussion effects. You can consult a Neuro-Otologist and Neurologist and see if you have any inner ear issues. Reason for dizziness can be very many. Get an MRI done to be safe.
Avatar f tn They gave me medicine and it helped. Then I went to a neurologist and he said it was post concussion syndrome. Then I went to another neurologist and he said it was my ears. So I went to physical therapy and he said it wasn't my ears. I'm so confused now. Can someone please help??:( any suggestions on what it is? Or is it pcs? I've had mris cts eegs and tons of bloodwork everything was normal.
Avatar m tn s been a year since his last concussion and he is making slow progress, but progress. Still has mood swings, ADD, and sleeplessness, but has made nice gains. He went on a flight to Scottland to visit a friend and seemed fine while in Scottland, but seemed to have regressed in symptoms when he returned home. Mood swings returned significantly and his choices and behaviors reflect significant impairment of executive function ability.
Avatar n tn I have a pretty good knot on my head still and know I had a concussion (dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting and headache). Well.. today my head still hurts, but I am noticing pain in my ear as well still. That began last night. Since I do not have insurance, I am wondering if I should be concerned and seek treatment. Please advise!
Avatar f tn i looked up the symptoms for trigeminal neuralgia and the pain i have is not excruciating and last a lot longer than a minute
Avatar m tn A few months ago, while playing basketball, I hit heads with one player of the opposite team when he reached in for a steal while I was driving to the hoop. The hit was placed above the right ear. The collision was not really strong and aside from the pain of the hit I didn't have any confusion or any other symptom and I went playing and finished the match. ( the rest of the people present didn't see at as very serious either).
1072295 tn?1255449536 ever since ive had a headacke, its not bad but dull and never goes away even with pain killers.i have pain in my left temple and my jaw is still sore, also my left ear hurts,,my jaw feels tight. the worse thing is i constantly feel as if ive had a few drinks!! i dont feel right,i cant even drive as i cant think properly,im slow to react and i feel slow,if you know what i mean! also a few times a day i will fall to the side as i lose balance like the ground is moveing.i am so tired all the time.
Avatar n tn I fell backwards 1 month ago, suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. I am also lightheaded and my ears are somewhat plugged(ear pressure). I was wondering how long a nerve takes to heal itself, or does it? Is the dizziness a result of the injury or a seperate issue?
Avatar n tn god I have exactly the same thing but with more problems. I also have ear and eye pain on the left, and bad memmory. I am so depressed from everything that I am going through. I had an accident in 2007. I am still suffering significantly. I tried all the treatment you can think of but nothing helped.
Avatar m tn The diagnosis made was due to the accident I lost function of the left inner ear and partial loss of function in right ear and left side brain trauma. This was caused by the concussion I suffered. I just worry that my current medications will mask my true symptoms. I don't know if I should stop taking them prior to the test or not. Today is the 28th I have to quit soon if that's what I should do. I know the antivert masks the symptoms. So they appear not to be there.
Avatar n tn Try a cold compress for the swelling and discomfort and tylenol for pain of course due to the ear factor watch for sighns of injury eaqrs are sensitve poor little guy hope he is okay and all goes well
Avatar f tn A little over 3 months ago I got up in the night to go to the bathroom and (we aren't sure if I fainted or felt and knocked myself out) but I hit the dresser and was unconscious for a while. I actually woke up back in in bed without knowing how I got back in bed and the room was spinning wildly. I was sweating, sick, nauseous, throwing up and couldn't walk. I finally made it to the bathroom and could see I had dried blood under my nose.
5876677 tn?1375902904 i passed out at a friends house 2 weeks ago i got a bad concussion and 10 stitches in my forehead the dizzy/light headedness has gone away when i lay down and sit up but still happens when i bend over,i'm having vision problems with my left eye,my hearing in my left ear, the left side of my face is always numb and will hurt at the same time,my boyfriend says i'm acting strange like i'm in my teens sometimes, i get sick to my stomach when driving,i sometimes feel like i'm going to
Avatar f tn I know the symptoms I have are a part of the concussion but they are bad (bec I already have the chiari symptoms) and it has been since Friday and I still feel HORRIBLE! I see a chiari specialist at the end of the month but in the mean time could this hitting my head on the wall possibly made things worse? (I did not have a ct for the concussion, the dr. just diagnosed me by my symptoms and what happened).
Avatar n tn He hit his head on the left side, middle and back around the ear, and saw stars/flashes when he hit. When he came home, he told me about it, said he had a headache, and went to sleep on the couch on his right side. About 10 minutes later, I walked over to check on him and was horrified to see that he bled from his left ear all over his shirt. I'd say he lost a little more than a 1/4 cup. It was very dark blood too.
Avatar m tn Hi, thank you so much for the replies! I'm for sorry for waiting so long to answer. There is one thing that have started bugging me lately, but I discovered it already the first day after the concussion; I have this totally flat area in the back of my skull where I hit the wall. It's a rough circle about 5cm in diameter. Nobody have mentoned it to me after looking at MR or CT. Can the skull be deformed like that without cracking!? ...
Avatar n tn My daughter passed out while serving mass and fell while kneeling face first on a marble floor. She got a cut on her chin and is complaining of an ear ache and her jaw hurts. She is 11 and she was doing okay but now she is feeling sick.
Avatar n tn Headache medicines, therapies, addressing neck injuries, vision issues, ear issues etc., Find a right doctor who knows about Post Concussion Syndrome and unfortunately there are not that many. Some don't even have a clue about it so be careful when you go to some one and dont get disappointed. I have been suffering for 2.5 years and finding my own way of dealing with things. Now I ask lot of questions to doctors and demand what I want to be done.
Avatar f tn Thanks, I have had an inter ear infection a few years back and it seemed I had a mild one, Still the fact that my head is so hyper sensitive since the concussion is frustrating and difficult to deal with.
Avatar m tn To this day, I still experience significant fatigue, dizziness, lightheadedness, neck pain, ear fullness and occasionally headaches, and nausea. After the ENTs told me I have nothing wrong with my inner ear, I feel as though everything is related to my neck such as an impinged artery or nerve. At this point I have no idea what the cause is and what can be done to be proactive. Any advice is appreciated!! Thanks!
