concussion

Avatar m tn Concussion may appear like intoxication but any good doctor would be able to know the difference by just doing a blood test! You can definitely be drunk with a concussion ... again a decent physician is going to ferret out which is which! Take care ....
Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.
Avatar f tn However, yes, MRI should be done to rule out brain injury as the cause. Stress due to concussion and brain injury can also be the cause. Also get your blood pressure checked. Take care!
Avatar f tn Leddy in an interview said “Physical rest beyond three weeks is detrimental” One of the most informative tests to determine the severity of the concussion and evaluate recovery is to see if the symptoms of a concussion are exacerbated when blood pressure rises, and of course blood pressure rises with exercise.
Avatar m tn The cause of death is usually due to lack of oxygen to the brain secondary to swelling and the oclusion of the supply of blood and nutrients. To cut to the chase, just because you or your child has a concussion does not mean you are going to die. There are always exceptions, but usually a mild concussion will resolve by itself with no long lasting effects.
651681 tn?1384872629 I taken him to the hospital immediately and a CT Scan was done and they said to me he had a minor concussion and to observe him for 48 hours. So of course I did and was very scare. Could this incident triggered this condition that he has now? I would like to make an appt. with a doctor to have this test done.
Avatar m tn I was involve in a very bad car accident 02/10 and have no memory of the actual wreck. the hospital deemed I have a severe concussion and then also diagnosed me with Post Concussion Syndrome. I am currently also experiencing back and neck problems as well as getting a collarbone checked out for a possible fracture. My question is does coffee effect concussion and PCS recovery. And how long does recovery generally take.
868804 tn?1239583770 I answered yes to shaky hands, copious amounts of sweat, heart palpitations etc. So she sent me for a blood test and an ultrasound. The blood test came back totally normal. The ultrasound revealed a thyroid nodule measuring 10mm x 15mm x 15mm and a collection of fluid nearby. Then i went for a CT scan on my thyroid which revealed nothing more than the ultrasound. Now im going for a second ultrasound tomorrow. This whole process has been going on since mid december.
Avatar n tn But, I never had the bottom of my feet stop hurting, burning feeling Now 32yrs later, I was mugged, beaten and have suffered a serious concussion, my feet are hurting me more and the burning pain has gotten worst i read now that those that get GB have blood transfer, etc...........
Avatar m tn The alteration of heart rate and blood pressure post concussion only lasts for a short time. It would nothing whatsoever to do with this individuals heart rate. Variations in heart rate such as described are not a neurological issue. Simple dehydration is the most common cause. Anemia or a low hematocrit could also cause these problems. A scan of the head is not needed nor recommended. You need to have simple orthostatic vital signs taken.
Avatar f tn and was hit in the head from other team mates going for the ball,he was suppossably knocked out for at least 5 min or more, and when he came too no one was around and he didnt even know what had happen to him,he just remebers gettting up from off the ground, when my father went to pick him up from school he told me that my son was looking sorta gazed at him complaining that his head hurts bad and that he couldnt see good, now at the school function there was no adults around at no part of the prac
Avatar f tn Yesterday I suffered mild blow to the head. I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.
10506901 tn?1431350757 However due to the circumstance I highly doubt what happened caused a concussion. I had a migraine while training at a martial arts gym and when the migraine symptoms lasted for 3 weeks I was diagnosed with concussion. The reason I do not think it is a concussion was because the only thing that could have caused it was me falling forward and stopping myself with my arms and it sort of jolted my body.
Avatar f tn I know that my kids in sports have each Fall a baseline concussion test. This then can be checked for the full year if there is any sort of injury to see if it is a concussion. Otherwise, you have to look for symptoms. This article you can copy and paste has a lot of info related to concussions. We looked for the signs after my son took a big head splitter in a soccer game and was put under concussion watch. https://my.clevelandclinic.
Avatar m tn it has shown no patern or relation to exercise or lack of exercise at this point.in my recent history i recieved a concussion and cervical spinal strain but the chiropractor, doctor, and neurologist dont seem to find a relation to this.i was also taking medication but havent taken any in about a month and a half.i was taking vicoden, flexeral, methocabanol, naproxen, and zofran.
Avatar n tn Hi! Brain injury can cause seizure even in presence of normal EEG and these respond to anticonvulsant therapy. The other possibility is that your son has non epileptic seizures. It would be worthwhile to check your son's blood sugar and serum sodium level at the time of seizure attack. Generally low sodium or blood sugar precipitates it. Another possibility is brain ischemia or low oxygen. Another component of non epileptic seizures is psychological. Post traumatic stress is a possibility.
Avatar f tn I know the symptoms I have are a part of the concussion but they are bad (bec I already have the chiari symptoms) and it has been since Friday and I still feel HORRIBLE! I see a chiari specialist at the end of the month but in the mean time could this hitting my head on the wall possibly made things worse? (I did not have a ct for the concussion, the dr. just diagnosed me by my symptoms and what happened).
Avatar f tn Immediately I had a headache, I saw halos around lights, and I felt like I was in a dream state. I went to a concussion specialist who performed an impact test on me and diagnosed me with a concussion. A couple weeks later I got cleared but soon after I started experiencing severe sensitivity to light and my vision seemed to worsen. I had been given glasses to use while driving for distance and now I have to wear them all the time or I can’t see.
Avatar f tn They gave me medicine and it helped. Then I went to a neurologist and he said it was post concussion syndrome. Then I went to another neurologist and he said it was my ears. So I went to physical therapy and he said it wasn't my ears. I'm so confused now. Can someone please help??:( any suggestions on what it is? Or is it pcs? I've had mris cts eegs and tons of bloodwork everything was normal.
Avatar f tn I have trouble concentrating but that most likely is a post concussion effet. Oh, and about a month ago around the same time this started I had another little epiisode of labyrinthis which cleared up in three weeks (dizzyness) but this affect my left ear. So what could this be? It is hard for me to find time to go to the doctor and I`m hoping to have to deal with things one at a time.
Avatar f tn Dizziness, off balance, tiredness, shortness of breathe when walking up stairs, severe flushing in the evening, crying episodes, arms and shoulders numb and tinglling and constant rolling/creepy crawly sensations all day long, gone from being the hottest person around to freezing all day long, short term memory loss to asking the same damn question over and over and over, feels like elephant is on my chest all day. Had all test done and no one seems to know what my issue is.
Avatar f tn He seemed concerned about that and ordered more test. He did a caloric test, VNG and some others. I also have had problems with my memory and feeling like I don't understand what someone is asking me. I had trouble thinking of names or words when trying to talk to someone. When I first when back to work everything looked like it was bouncing when I walked down the hall and I was seeing double vision when I looked at the computer (one dark line and one lighter above it).
Avatar m tn m feeling a little depressed and also mood swings. Do you think this is from the concussion? And if so, if I got an MRI would it show anything?
Avatar f tn the hospital said that I had a chest contusion, concussion, and strain muscle in my back and neck. Now my abdomen is hurting, and I am bleeding black blood.what does this mean.
12128836 tn?1423574148 Think of a soldier who gets a RPG explosion near him and afterwards vomits and has severe headaches and states of confusion and these symptoms can last on and off for years. No ct scans or blood tests will show anything wrong but still, is he well? Multiple concussions are considered dangerous. After four or five concussions you really would need to quit whatever you are doing or you will risk brain damage and dysfunction.
Avatar f tn My child has had a headache for months folowing a sore throat, ear ache, cold and then a head injury and mild concussion. The Doctor said it was sinusitus. Blood tests were fine except for an ASOT of >400. This was treated by antibiotics. A later CAT scan showed maxillary sinusitus but the ENT specialist said this did not explain his frontal headache. His ASOT is now >900. He is sick and tired and I am worried. Any clues?
Avatar n tn m a little nervous about this and just wanted to know the general odds or percentages when you have a concussion and your smell/taste and hearing come back. Thank you.
