Concerta not working

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta not working

concerta

Avatar n tn Have you tried another med. Maybe Concerta is not working or is not enough. Talk to her docotor about trying another med such as Stratera (non-stimulant) or Metadate CD another type of stimulant. I have a friend with a boy who takes Metadate CD. They tried Concerta and it did not work for the school at all. He was very restless and hyper. At home he was fine at the end of the day.
Avatar f tn Make sure that she gets lots of sleep (over 10 hours), exercise outside, vitamins, fish oil (Omegas), and clean diet (fresh food, not preservatives in the food and no artificial coloring). I am not a doctor and this not an expert opnion. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I'm not sure if Concerta is working for me? I'm a 20 year old female and I was recently diagnosed with ADD. I was prescribed with 18mg of Concerta, once every morning. I didn't feel particularly focused, but I suppose less distracted than usual. I felt very calm and relaxed on the first day. But since the first day, I don't notice any difference at all.
Avatar m tn Im a 16 yearold male that plays a ton of sports and works out a lot but I'm never hungry! Its really weird all my buddies eat a ton of food after our games and in general there always hungry! I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 160 pounds. I am starting to feel weak because I don't eat. Is it normal for me to feel like this? I'm currently on 105mg of concerta. Could the concerta be doing it to me?
969557 tn?1314370614 Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. 13415927 tn?1430701518 but i am bipolar and have very bad anxiety. concerta works very well for my ADD but not for my anxiety, is there a better way to get the best of both worlds?
Avatar m tn The Concerta will show up for one to three days (in a urine test) depending on how fast you metabolize. However from what I have read, it will show up in the initial screening as a general amphetamine. After a positive initial screening, the sample will be further tested using a different methodology that will specify the type of amphetamine. Of course, if you have taken your generic version of adderall after the concerta for a couple of days. That should be what shows up.
Avatar f tn Im a 19 years old boy and i have tried vyvanse which did miracles at first at 20mg until the effect decreased and had to go up to 60mg with no effects except the bad ones and went back to my old self(lazy, tired, unmotivated etc.). I am now on concerta 36mg and it seems like working but not all the time and clearly not as much as first time vyvanse.
Avatar m tn ADHD, mild-moderate schizophrenia spectrum disorder (high functioning juvenile paranoid schizophrenic possible), tourette syndrome ( coprolalia), anxiety disorder, OCD, highly possibly aspergers and depression. I have not been on an ADHD med in years, because they gave me insomnia. I have been on both stimulate (concerta, adderall) and non-stimulant (strattarra) drugs. I definitely feel that concerta worked very well for me.
Avatar f tn ve read about extended release focalin verses extended release concerta is that focalin works faster (within 30 minutes of taking it) and is better for a child that needs the help prior to leaving for school and that type of thing. So, it is reported that it begins working fast in the morning and continues to control symptoms during the day and then tapers off at hours 10 to 12.
Avatar f tn After trying a few medications, his doctor chose Concerta as his daily medicine. It seemed to help a little with his so called "hyper" behavior. However, the doctor has increased the dosage a few times and my son is now taking 54mg.
Avatar m tn The first couple weeks my wife and I both noticed a big improvement with my symptom of ADD. Than all of a sudden it stopped working. I told my doctor, he changed it to Bupropion 300mg XL. Its been a week and a half since its been changed and no improvement. What happened to make it quit working? Will it start if I give it some more time?
Avatar f tn was diagnosed with adhd about 2 mos ago and my doctor put me on 36mgs of concerta it seems to help with the impulse control, but I am still having an issue with my mind being in a thousand different places. I also have a seven year old son who was also diagnosed with adhd about a week ago and because of his size he is also on 36mg of concerta and it is making him calmer at home, but when I talked to his teacher today she said that she is not seeing any improvement at all.
16638194 tn?1449934941 Now we are at the point where those two meds were not working at all and we were already at the approved dosage limits. Our Pediatrician is wonderful and we're trying to find something that works for my son (we live in North Idaho and the nearest Psychiatrist is an hour and 30 minutes away). We took him off of the cocktail he was on and he is now taking 36mg Concerta and a small dose of Clonidine at bed time to help him sleep. Concerta doesn't seem to be working for him.
Avatar n tn The bar exam is on July 24th-26th, 2017. I have never taken Concerta everyday for this long before, and I know that daily use is not encouraged. However, I feel that taking it daily would allow me to prepare for the exam to the best of my ability. The amount of information I need to learn is substantial, as is the difference in my ability to study for long hours on and off the medicine.
Avatar n tn I am not sure about what you are asking, but I suggest you start with your general practitioner to see what is going on physically. It does not follow any anatomical patterns, but may be a reflection of some metabolic problem, or an anxiety equivalent.
Avatar f tn 12 to 14 hours for Vyvanse and 8 to 10 for Concerta. Thats very close to all day coverage and not necessary. Second, they are of two different chemical classes. Concerta is a methylphenidate based medicine, while Vyvanse is an amphetamine based med. Usually you go to an amphetamine based because your methylphenidate is not working for you. The only possible reason I can think of to take both would be to turn off your mind at night so you could go to sleep and stay asleep.
Avatar n tn I have known some folk for whom Concerta was really not the right medication but there are other options if medicine is required. In the UK we have various immediate release methylphenidates as well as ones which last up to 8 hours or 12 hours. There is also Straterra and Dexamphetamine. I think the US has even more choices. SOmetimes it is the way the medicine is delivered that causes the problems rather than the medicine itself.
Avatar f tn Tried ritalin (normal), ritalin SR, Concerta and amphetamine. Concerta gave me something but felt something missing, normal ritalin was terrible, OD and came into "cocain waves" (very high, and straight to the bottom), amph gave me more but I didnĀ“t eat, and felt a bit anxious, ritalin SR was, and is my favourite, works as a charm.
Avatar f tn I wish I would have found this site back when my son was diagnosed with ADHD so that I would have been more aware of the problems associated with the meds. Doctors do not explain this and statistics do not help either. Good Luck and GOD BLESS!
Avatar n tn My son has ADHD, complex tic disorder, and ODD as well as gluten and casein intolerance, hypothyroidism, and we had a peds neurologist doing all his med adjusting. He is 10 and on Concerta 54 mg (for last almost 3 years) and Zoloft 100 mg and Intuniv 2 mg and recently Risperdal 0.25 mg every am and 0.5 mg q pm. The neurologist wanted to add another med Abilify on board as he was still having some outburst behavior. I find this troubling that he wants my child on 5 psychoactive meds.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Concerta for one year. This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily.
Avatar f tn p.s. his symptoms seem to have come back full force. It's as if the body adjusts and the meds quit working so im at a loss what I should do. After school's out I plan on trying the intuitve out and seeing how it helps. I didn't want to change him while he's still in school. The doctor says it builds up in the system and should have a longer lasting affect once its taken for a few days.
