Concerta for non add

Common Questions and Answers about Concerta for non add

concerta

Avatar m tn I'm not sure if Concerta is working for me? I'm a 20 year old female and I was recently diagnosed with ADD. I was prescribed with 18mg of Concerta, once every morning. I didn't feel particularly focused, but I suppose less distracted than usual. I felt very calm and relaxed on the first day. But since the first day, I don't notice any difference at all.
Avatar m tn One of my friends were on vyvanse and she said her heart felt like it would pop out of her chest. I dont know if they use it for adult adhd but there is a non stimulant adhd med its strattera i think maybe you could talk to the doc about non stimulants???
Avatar f tn Concerta is almost identical to Ritalin.
Avatar f tn We had our daughter on Strattera 40mg a non- stimulent for ADD, as she has ADD, we have taken her off the medication, she was on it for 12months+, had tried Concerta before this, however our daughter couldn't sleep at night while on Concerta, we don't feel the benefits have been great on Strattera. I live in Australia and Homeopathy isn't supported by mainstream Doctors. Thanks again for your time.
1756969 tn?1332437163 wondering if anyone has tried concerta for their adhd? i was on a few meds a few years ago but stopped taking them because nothing seemed to work. i am about to try going back on concerta 36mg and see if it will help. i also have depression and am starting a new med called celexa. any info will help. thanks!! not sure what i should be looking for in healthy changes.
Avatar f tn Hi, Your doctor is being smart to not put you on a combination of Adderall and Concerta. They are both nervous system stimulants and together they can cause cardiac events such as a heart attack... How long have you been on the Bupropion? It can take 6-8 weeks to have any effect on your body..but that drug in most cases is not used to treat ADD and studies have proven that its not very effective in treating ADD.
Avatar f tn Strattera is a non stimulant med used for ADHD. Whether or not it would be effective for you, I don't know. This site lists almost all possible treatment options. Although for some reason, I couldn't find Strattera listed, so you need to google that. The site is http://www.healing-arts.org/children/ADHD/medications.htm And the following site also lists (with info) non stimulant meds (they do mention strattera). http://www.baltimorepsych.com/NonStimulants.
Avatar f tn I ended up putting him on Vyvanse 30mg extremely low dose and he has been doing fine. He has been taking Vyvanse for 1 year. I took concerta and ended up going off due to severe headaches. Also, just something that you may want to read is a book called The IQ Answer- Maximizing your child's potential (Family centered action plans to help children struggling with: ADD, Learning disabilities and low academic performance) by Dr.
Avatar f tn I have 16 year old twin boys who have just now recently been diagnosed with ADD by a Neurologist. He has prescribed Concerta which I can understand but he also prescribed Lamictal and from the information I can find this is for Bipolar or Epilepsy. Can anyone out there comment?
429700 tn?1308007823 Yep, about 15 years ago, at the same time as both of my sons. My sister's kids have it, too, and I strongly suspect my older brother is ADD. I take Wellbutrin for both it and depression. I'm in MS limbo, but I find the ADD and my short-term memory are getting worse. I'm also menopausal, so who knows which of the three is causing it?
13415927 tn?1430701518 but i am bipolar and have very bad anxiety. concerta works very well for my ADD but not for my anxiety, is there a better way to get the best of both worlds?
Avatar f tn You could ask your psychiatrist for strategies for dealing with what you feel are add/adhd symptoms that are non medical.
Avatar f tn And where they giving drugs for the ADHD and ADD .Because I know there has to be many people out there that where treated for the wrong thing. And that when some one has Seizures it can look like they have ADD AND ADHD and even Bipolar. And the side effects to the drugs they use for ADD and ADHD along with Bipolar can cause Seizures ,since these drugs go straight to the brain and are like speed to young Children.
2083581 tn?1332307861 I currently use Ritalin for ADD and it also helps depression. Does anyone have suggestions for supplementing this with another drug. I have heard wellbutrin works well with Ritalin but I would like to here from someone with experience. Ritalin is the only drug that has ever helped me but when it wears off I am depressed again. (and I have tried Concerta and did like it) Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Later, after high school I went to another psychiatrist who diagnosed me with ADD and put me on different drugs such as concerta, basically ritlan. It worked really well, but I think it was concerta that was too strong and all forms of ritlan gave me insomnia issues, but still, that was the best I have ever felt in my life, or should I say the most normal I have ever felt.
Avatar n tn My son is 15 years old and for as long as I can remeber he has always been very unhappy & extremely angry. He's been in & out of therapy (counseling) since he was 4 years old. We had NEVER concidered medication until about 8 months ago. My son was tired of not being liked, feeling angry, sad and felt he needed help beyond just counseling.
Avatar m tn Hi i am a nineteen year old caucasian male and i have ADD along with a few other things and i have a few questions. 1. How do i find out if i have OCD because i have some strange habits 2. my memory is rapidly deteriorating though i think its due to marijuana usage, is there any way to improve my memory or supplements i can take to help. 3.
Avatar f tn My son is 9 years old and has add. he is on concerta he has been on it for about 7 months now..he gets mad at his brother and sisters easly and he has a problem wetting the bed and pooping in his pants at night is this caused by the concerta?
1031310 tn?1259857386 Honestly, I think concerta is a way safer drug for CHILDREN in general who do not have reactions to concerta (and reactions to concerta are very rare). I would not make the same statement about adults... probably both are safe for adults (and reactions are rare). But for CHILDREN, concerta is probably the safer of the two UNLESS these sudden auditory hallucinations really are a result of the concerta and not a result of something weird that happened at a new "church"...
459210 tn?1237381603 my question is this, how do you get tested for add? where do you get tested? and which doctor gives you add medicine if you need it? what is the test like ? do they just ask questions? i know i have it and it would be nice to read a book...
982251 tn?1248781387 My daughter has been on concerta for 3 yrs now and she has facial tics. We took her off now and its been about 4 days, they seem to have gone away except once in away in awhile I see one but mostly 3\4 or more are gone. So I would like to know if they were becuse of the concerta and not touretts.
Avatar f tn I just started taking Concerta (36 mg) and I immediately developed shingles. My doctor swears it's a coincidence, but I can't help but wonder. I had chicken pox as a child, but I've never had shingles before now. I went to the doctor today and got neurontin and valtrex, but the doctor told me to keep taking the Concerta. I don't know what to do because the Concerta is helping my ADD, but I also believe it at least played a part in my shingles outbreak.
Avatar f tn He feels like the ruler of the earth and is blind to what we see. If the Concerta is not abused it works well for him, but he lacks the self-control to take it as prescribed. His doctor just writes the scripts. Never does blood test and ups the dose anytime my son asks. We took him to a neurologist and psycologist that was very careful(when he was younger). This doctor could care less. His work history *****. He just got a new job two weeks ago but is into the fourth day of his binge.
