My daughter is nearly 11 years old and has been taking Concerta (now on 36mg) since March. The doctor recommended a switch to Strattera for the reason that it works 24 hours (Concerta is effective for only 12 hours) and will help my daughter concentrate more. I have no idea whether Strattera is a better alternative, can anyone tell me if this is true?
I am 23 year old, recently diagnosed with adhd, and i am taking 18mg of Concerta. Lately, in the evenings, when i am reading,or focusing on computer screens, my eyes feel like they are vibrating, and my vision begins to shake. I am making an appointment with my doctor. But it might take time to get in. What is happening?
if you look these drugs up you will see that people have had sudden death and some have had heart problems and strokes ,and Seizures. My son started having Seizures after being on ADDERALL witch did nothing for him and was then put on CONERTA , these drugs changed him . Now he has Seizures every day and more than one kind of Seizure even thou he is on Medicines and had Surgery last June and had what they call the VNS put in.
I have heard many times what you are both saying about your children and being on Concerta. and I want you to both do this for your child . Get them an EEG and don't take no form your childrens Doctors. I know this because my son started to have seizures once he was on these drugs and it could be from the drugs or because he never had ADD OR ADHD it was Seizures witch can look like ADD OR ADHD OR BOTH.

And they have helped my son so he can learn better,and he also has gone threw a lot and has to take medicines for Seizures since 2006.
There are other things that the doctors should look at that go along with a child who looks like they have add or adhd. But they don't do the work to find out and parents don't always know better.. Wish I had know before I drugged my son with those drugs

My son now has Seizures after being on Adderall and then Concerta and was on Risperdal until we had to take him to the Hospital one night,I thou I was going to lose my son and he was very scared to and going in and out of Seizures. The one Doctor told me to take him off slowly because they are know good for someone who has Seizures. My Son Seizures started out where you couldn't even know he was ahving them.
My son was on conerta and adderall and both of them can cause seizures and since 2006 he has had seizures and still is.And now we have to worry about those to.And the doctors thinks he has lennox gastaut syndrome.
The doctors will tell you that you will have to give it some time and see if it works ,because it will take some time since he just started the Concerta.
These drugs are like speed and wish I had never put my son on them and wish other parents would do the same.
he finally sent my son for an egg because one day the school nurse said she thou my son may be having seizures and his doctor thou it would come back normal and to our surprise it did not.
you see my son was doing the same as you son was at school ,because he was and still is having night time seizures.And you can't always tell when he is having them.
and now he is having 3 different kind of seizures and the medicines he is on is not working.
i have adhd and have been on concerta for 8 years and i have had many symptoms from it. while on the medication i had loss of appitite,headackes,soreness,mood swings,thoughts of suicide,couldnt fall asleep, depression,and anger. but when i try to come off of it i suddenly became very hungry all the time, weak feeling,and couldnt control myself at all. what is causeing this to happen and how can i make these symptoms stop so i can finally come off my medication?any info is appreciated.

after me telling his doctor a few times about what was going on,he sent my son for an egg and it came back that my son was having seizures.witch concerta can cause seizures.
the blank look you see in her can be the first sign of her having them.

Yes, it does say "very rarely in patients without a history of seizures".
I was also put on Lyrica, which I stopped taking, Concerta, which works very well at a low dose, and Cymbalta 60mg that I take everyday. I stopped taking the Tramadol 2 days ago and feel horrible. I have a script waiting at the pharmacy. Do I go pick it up and taper off or keep going since I'm already this far in? Help me please.
and wish I had never put my son on any medicine,My son was on adderall and them concerta. and when I found out he was having Seizures I took him off the concerta.and now we are dealing with seizures every day and the medicines are not working.so last week he had a surgery and time will tell if that is going to work.
he cant learn he acts like 4 to 5 years old and not a child who will be 11 this year.

My son was put on adderall and then concerta for adhd and add.both of them did nothing.but he ended up having seizures.on both sides of his brain.know medicine have worked.and this June the VNS was put in.
The seizures seem to come when he is hipper at times,also when scared.When I ask him if he worrys a lot he says yes.Thou I tell him not to.
He would get a lot of seizures at school,when changing classes or when asked to do something he didn't know how to do or want to do.
stress and anxiety can cause more Seizures and having Seizures can make it very hard to learn and the School Teachers need to know that,and they need to know how to teach him and try different things to see what works and they have to know this is not his fault and if he is having seizures while he is at School he will not hear everything they say to him so they need to repeat things for him to make sure they know he hears everything that is being said.
MY SON HAS BEEN ON CONCERTA FOR 7YRS AND IT IS WONDERFUL HE HAS ADHD. MY DAUGHTER HAS ADHD AND ODD, CONCERTA GAVE HER TICS AND FINALLY I FOUND A GREAT DOCTOR AND SHE TOOK HER OFF STIULANTS AND THEY ARE ALL GONE SHE IS NOW ON TENEX AND IS A NEW CHILD. SOMETIME IT IS JUST TRIAL AND ERA TILL YOU FIND THE RIGHT DRUG, AS YOU COULD SEE WITH MY DAUGHTER, AND BELIEVE ME WE TRIED ABOUT 10 OR MORE TILL WE GOT IT RIGHT.
the hospital stays all the medicines he is on and not being able to play like other children or learn,because after take addreall first and then changed to concerta .started to have seizures that wont go away with medicines and now surgery on June 24th this year and waiting to see this this helps to try take him off at least some of his medicines.
And now he is on and has had to stay in hospital because of Seizures to try and finds the best medicines to try and stop the Seizures,some you can see and other you can't. He also had the VNS put in this last June and still having Seizures. The best thing I think I have done is to put him on Vitamin b6 and omega 3-6-9 and only wish I new about how much it could have helped him when he was younger.
Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...the Concerta and Intuniv were PERFECT....Great days at school and an amazing kid emerged...Then at the end of two weeks he developed a tic...This was so horrible...They were happening about 12 - 16 per minute. raised eyebrows, eyes rolling to back of the head, head tilt to the side and a humming sound. We called Psych. and Concerta was stopped. However a week later, the tics are still here...not as frequent...
