concerta

Avatar f tn Three weeks ago, the Psychiatrist added in Intuniv...OH MY GOSH...the Concerta and Intuniv were PERFECT....Great days at school and an amazing kid emerged...Then at the end of two weeks he developed a tic...This was so horrible...They were happening about 12 - 16 per minute. raised eyebrows, eyes rolling to back of the head, head tilt to the side and a humming sound. We called Psych. and Concerta was stopped. However a week later, the tics are still here...not as frequent...
Avatar n tn Ever since he is on this medication he is showing increased signs of anxiety regarding food safety and some OCD traits (increased hand washing). His anxieties about his food possibly being poisoned are really affecting our home life and cause him true anguish. Is it possible that the medication is causing this dramatic increase in anxiety? What other meds could be used to help the ADHD aspect? We already tried Concerta which made him more aggressive?
Avatar n tn A lot of my OCD stemmed from anxiety and racing or jumbled thought. I still have OCD but I have learned to distinguish them as not true or necessary. Do you believe if you keep doing these things you will stay germ free or is it your mind telling you these things are necessary to prevent germs. There is always hope. You are looking for a balance in your thoughts. Learning something different could help. Don't close the door on all options.
Avatar f tn My son is soon to be 17 years old. He has been on 54mg of Concerta for 4 years plus. Before that he was on Ritalin, both for ADD. This medication treatment was recommended some time ago to help him academically and I must say, it has not really helped all these years. He continues to struggle in school and has trouble with depression so I am writing to request some clarity. Recently, his doctor has recommended a higher dose of Concerta.
969557 tn?1314370614 My son was on concerta and adderall and they both can cause seizures. I would ask doctor to you for an egg and make sure you are not having seizures.Witch is a side effect to concerta and can not be reversed .They can only give you medicine to try and control the seizures. I wish we had never put my son on these medicines.
Avatar f tn He has tried them all and had tremendous success on Adderall, until he developed tics and had to go on Concerta which made him very depressed. He decided in high school that he no longer wanted to be on meds and went at it without. Needless to say, by April of his Senior year, he was behind and did not catch up, nor did he graduate. At 19, he is now trying to live on his own, is in a depressed state, cannot hold a job and has issues with his attention span, OCD and authority.
1110718 tn?1258435594 She is happy, nice, caring, and just great and then can just turn in a second to a very angry upset and self harming child sometimes. She also was put on Concerta 36mg and her rages got even worse to where she once almost jumped out of the car when driving down the freeway. Very scary. She also has pulled clumps of her own hair out and busted her tooth out of her mouth and injured her body with bruises and cuts in her rages.
414608 tn?1221754268 I have 5 year old a child who has always had behavior problems since he was 2. He has been put out of several daycares and the behavior started out with hitting and biting other kids, then it went to not listening to adults and running and hiding from them. When he started Pre-K last year, he did fine for the 1st semester with no problems, then things went downhill from there. he would thow things in the classroom and have tantrums frequently.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with ADHD (to add to my list of other mental health issues) at the age of 21 and was put on Concerta as treatment. Well, three years has passed and my dosage has increased to 108 mg/morning. At 72 mg I started developping speech problems and then they worsened at 90 mg. It was so bad, that ny doctor reduced my dose but later on he decided to increase it back up as I was having a lot of struggles.
1238606 tn?1304201621 We were taken away from them when I was about 5 and then put in foster system and then found a home. I kept in touch with my dad and he OD and died when I was 16 yrs. I have 2 brothers I tried to keep in touch with and one just got out of jail and the other is addicted to drugs. Now my husband and I were both on the same meds for awhile, he only took his for pain, I took mine alot longer than needed and became addicted. I am well on my way to recovery.
Avatar m tn He watched videos of tics I have recorded and talked with me about her behaviors, he let me know that she has Tourettes, OCD, and ADHD. With both my kids the tics come and go and change.
1756970 tn?1314376733 hi, concerta ,and stratara, and all the others my doc put me on didn't come close to adderall. focalin worked to but was costly. adderall leavels your brain, and lets you be yourself. the way your supose to be.
Avatar m tn You definitely are correct. Concerta and all the other stim drugs are not cures for ADHD and have never been given as a cure. Unfortunately, due to uninformed, too busy, or lazy (?) doctors and parents - it has been treated as the 'cure" - and the child never has learned coping skills. Avatar m tn My son is 7 and has been on Concerta for over a year now. He started with 18MG which worked great. No side effects and had a wonderful experience at school. This year his dosage was increased to 27MG and now I've started to notice a tic I guess is what you call it. I was searching the web and came across other post because I was wondering if it had something to do with his medication. His tic is he wiggles his fingers, he does it and he doesn't even realize it.
16613731 tn?1449676204 When I was in the first grade the school said my aggressive behavior was becoming an issue and the doctor prescribed Concerta. The amount of milligrams I would take daily has been adjusted over the years, but I currently take thirty six milligrams daily. This is the only medication I use frequently (once a day). On another side of the fence. I have been an insomniac since my childhood. My mother and I can remember the nights I would lie awake in the living room and watching infomercials.
Avatar m tn I have been taking Concerta for one year. This was to counteract the fatigue and sleepiness that I had been getting from taking Paxil for depression. Though Concertat was initially effective, it gradually became more of a detriment than help. It made me very irritable, unfocused, and moody. I have worked with my doctor to gradually phase concerta out from the 72m I was taking daily.
Avatar n tn Thanks guys for all the input. I actually decided to go ahead and take the concerta, and it seems to have cleared up all my problems. 30 minutes after talking all my anxiety and depersonalization went away. Also for the first time in my life i felt like i actually enjoyed doing simple things and getting every day satisfaction out of it. Its my 3rd day that i've taken concerta and i've only had 1 problem which isnt really that bad and that was headaches.
Avatar n tn I'm hoping someone here can help, perhaps a Ph.D. or someone with knowledge/experience of medicines-- I have been diagnosed ADHD since I was a little kid (early grade school) and diagnosed with social anxiety at 17yrs old (towards the end of high school). I've been on and off multiple medicines for both (I've been on 5-10 different drugs; see my personal feedback below on some of the meds if you are interested in that information). I also very much think I have OCD.
Avatar m tn ADHD, mild-moderate schizophrenia spectrum disorder (high functioning juvenile paranoid schizophrenic possible), tourette syndrome ( coprolalia), anxiety disorder, OCD, highly possibly aspergers and depression. I have not been on an ADHD med in years, because they gave me insomnia. I have been on both stimulate (concerta, adderall) and non-stimulant (strattarra) drugs. I definitely feel that concerta worked very well for me.
Avatar n tn We tried putting my 9 year old son (who has ADHD) on Concerta about a month ago and after about 4 days, he started frequently rolling his eyes involuntarily up and to the right. We took him off immediately, but the symptoms have persisted. I'm not sure if it was caused by the Concerta, as he'd previously been on it for a month about a year ago and did not display the eye rolling. Does anyone know if there is a correlation, and if this is something that will stop?
Avatar n tn I started taking concerta 8 months ago and it has made ia great change in the fear I USED to have speaking in front of people . I till stutter but not near as often when speaking in front of adults .
Avatar m tn In addition I am tapering off diazepam and down to 2mg in the morning and 1 at night. Everytime I try to get off the concerta I get terrible anxiety from it. I have it to a degree while on it also. I want off but my dr who takes 3 weeks to get into anyway, won’t switch me to a med I can taper off of. I know 3 weeks is a short time compared to what most of you have been through. But can someone please tell me how long my withdrawals are going to last??
558991 tn?1226060828 She is now 18 and she takes Concerta 72 mg. daily. Because of her ADHD, she has become a compulsive eater and is now very obese. Now that she is 18, she wants to try weight loss pills like Alli and Lipozene. I advised her against it, saying diet and excersise are the best options, but she has a lot of trouble loosing weight, like most of my family. I am very worried that Concerta mixed with any weight loss medications can cause problems. Are my fears rational? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Hi there...sorry to butt in but for Wellbutrin it usually takes 4 to 6 weeks before you really see benefits. But as Sandman said, it usually isn't prescribed for ADD but rather OCD and anxiety. I take it for OCD. Is your doctor trying to treat your racing thoughts thinking that perhaps you have OCD as well as ADD?
Avatar f tn Hello all! I have had attention problems since icould remember. Im 24 now. But only in the year or so I've realized that it has actually caused a lot of problems study wise for me. I feel constantly bored or loos interest in the smallest tasks and tend not to sleep allot because it feels like I can't switch the conversations off in my head. I only really realized that my behavior was a bit odd, when my friend kept telling me that I walk around and interrupt allot of people in class.
Avatar f tn My son has a 5-6 mm hole in his heart and we get Eco every year, just because he is taking Concerta. So far, we were lucky and did not have to suspend taking it. If they say it - keep him off of it. I am sorry to say that.
