Common Questions and Answers about Colon pain and gas

colon

Avatar m tn Your description of bloating is apparently from intestinal gas produced by your digestion. Sometimes, your digested food can be delayed in your colon from being expelled as waste. A bowel movement should remove most of the gas. Difficult bowel movements may mean you have chronic constipation. And the more pressure you put on your stomach muscles trying to force your dry bowels to move, the more you feel your stomach muscles tightening.
Avatar f tn I have been pooping narrow stools for a week and persistent gas pain or hunger idk how to distiguish one from another. I dont feel pain while pooping ang there is no blood in my stools. However I feel a lump in one side of my anus the moment I wash off after pooping but there is no pain when I touch it then it is gone after I go out of the toilet maybe it went back inside the rectum. Any insight would be deeply appreciated.
Avatar f tn I have had lower pain in my left side and around my back for 5 days. It feels like gas but took medicine and did not help. it hurts when i eat and then have to go to bathroom what could this be?
Avatar f tn t aware that laying on their right side can cause gas to build up in your colon and form a gas bubble. The way the colon is shaped and with the gas rising upward, when laying on the right side it gets trapped in the ascending and transverse sections of the colon and is not as easily expelled as it is when laying on the left side. I recommend trying some OTC treatments like beano, gas X, prilosec, prevacid, Mylanta, mylox etc. for a few days.
Avatar f tn I get this intense pain in what seems to be my colon but cant say for sure just know it hurts and is intense. It can last up to ten minutes then goesaway .
Avatar n tn I avoided spicy foods and food that causes gas. I took Gas-Ex from time to time when the gas pain was severe. I took Pepto Bismol when I had diarrhea and cramping. I also took over the counter acid reducers for heartburn. My recommendation is to ask for a referral right away to a gynecologist and find out what other tests should be completed to further evaluate and treat the cyst.
Avatar n tn hi again, basically you have a virus in your digestive system which cause infection and inflammation, also bacteria in your colon which thrives on sugars and the like release strong gases which in turn cause you to be bloated and dizzy, the foul smell is directly from this bad bacteria, you need to change your diet, eat fresh vegetables, plenty of fruit and water, drammatically cut down on your sugar intake, remember fruit has enough sugar to satisfy the human body, also cut down on your dairy fo
Avatar m tn is the pain in right or left quadrants due to colon cancer constant or dull and daily coming-going kind?
Avatar m tn However even if you get blood in the stool and then stomach pain it is much more likely something else besides colon cancer. There are intermediate grounds between gas pains and colon cancer like chrons disease, ulcerative colitis, IBD, etc.
Avatar f tn The area where the colostomy scar is often is painful if there is any pressure applied, even my clothes bother it (this is occuring even after scar revision surgery) Directly underneath that scar where my colon was resected feels very firm and hard and is sometimes tender and causes some light pain. My surgeon said I had lots of scar tissue when he performed the takedown. How long does it take for the colon to return to normal, if ever? Do the cut nerves ever get back to normal?
Avatar m tn I suffer from CONSTIPATION and FLUID that is produced because of COLON IRRITATION and GAS BLOATING. The constipation PLUGS up my colon (like a blockage preventing ability to pass gas) and then after enough time I puke (rare these days) or start to burp up the foods I ate earlier (not rare). So I can have constipation and liquid poop at the same time. High fiber foods help constipation but cause more irritation. So we fix one problem and start another.
Avatar m tn in the mornings, when I woke up EARLY for school, I would have lots of gas, and a watery stool, a few hours into school, mostly every week day EXCEPT for Friday. And when I woke up LATE on the weekends, the gas and diarrhea would be gone, but my decreased appetite would remain. Does anyone find this odd?
Avatar n tn I've been having pain and discomfort in my lower right abdomen and colon area. There has been some feeling of pressure and some sharp pain as well as some dull and a few times prickly pain. It is increased when I have gas bubbles passing through that area. I'll get the pain and then alittle while later, I emit the gas bubble externally. The other times I get the pain is when I'm stressed, believe it or not.
Avatar n tn The severe abdominal pain sounds like constipation and gas...constipation CAN casue you to feel bad if it goes on for long enough...(to just feel as if you are of poor health in general). My husband has severe swelling of his hands and we think it is caused from his Triglycerides being very high. The lateness on your period could just be from stress...used to happen to me all the time. Good luck!!!
Avatar m tn Oh, yeah, sounds like a classic case of IBS to me. Believe it or not, anti-anxiety or anti-depressants actually help with IBS. It's just a matter of finding the right one for you. You're so lucky that you can have regular bowel movements! Many of us are not, which is why we're on this forum. As long as your stool is NOT diarhea at this point, since you are diagnosed with IBS, I wouldn't obsess over it. Make mention of it to your doctor the next time you see your doctor.
Avatar m tn I am 60, do not mess around on my chronic pain condition and meds. Have several documentations and judgment in my favor but are worthless. The company doctor has used my Medicare and Worker Comp mix and match. Mostly meds no or little physical care. I read a letter ONE VISIT A YEAR and NO MEDS. Now I hear the canceled my lifetime medical. Using their own people. Extremely friendly with Comp People. I log a complaint and they will not tell me the results and how they would address them.
Avatar f tn You should really call a GI and see if you can get a colonoscopy There not bad and they can look in your colon And can tell you everything that is going on with you that would be my Best bet . I know how you feel I had my large intestine removed and that's how mine started but if you don't have any blood in your BM's then you should be OK but still I would call a GI or if pain gets really bad then Go to a hospital .
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a 25 year old male. I've been having excessive gas release for 4 days... It all started on Wednesday when i woke up with a stomach pain. The stomach pain is almost gone now, but the flatulence scares me a lot... I tried to find the reasons for the flatulence and what i have read is that it can be symptom of colon cancer... The stool for now is OK. I really want to know the first sign of colon cancer.
Avatar m tn Trapped gas normally causes pain under your left rib cage as this is where the colon takes a downward dip, allowing gas to get trapped. Gas is more painful than a dull ache. Is your doctor treating you for the gas? There are medications that break up gas in the intestine. Taking a look at the colon is often the only way to see if there is any inflammation, or abnormalities. Hope this helps and take care.
Avatar m tn I'm a 46 year old male. About 5 weeks ago, I notice a dull ache about 3 inches to the right of my navel. I'm naturally a worrywart, so my attention has been focused on that much of every day since then. On a scale of 1-10 the ache is about a 1 or 2 most of the time, an occasionally a 3 or 4. It is intermittent. I can go hours and at times a few days with no pain. Then there are days where it seems it's on and off all day and for many days in a row.

1544786 tn?1293504543 OK so i had problems for a long time going to the bathroom, and i had a colonoscopy yesterday done and it showed i had a few polyps and internal hemmorids, and a spastic colon. My gastro said that the spastic colon is from my previous pregnancy when i told him that this has been going on from before my son.. HE totally did not listen to anything i said ! I am fustrated and pissed off. well anyway he told me the gas in my belly wil go away and DO NOT PUSH IT OUT.
Avatar m tn I woke up with this issue (gas, cramps and gurgling and pain most likely from gas)on Apr 14, 2015 and have had it ever since. The colon gurgles especially after eating (anything). I release an enormous amount of gas regularly. I have hade constant pain in the upper left quadrant. I have had an abdominal ultrasound which showed some gall bladder sludge; everything else normal. Abdominal CT scan with barium and iodine. No issues.
Avatar n tn Bloating and gas can result from what you are eating, or IBS. But instead of guessing, see a GI doctor and put your mind at ease.
Avatar m tn I have a hard time passing gas also. I have to strain to pass gas and it never seems like its all out. My stomach is constantly "bubbly" and I have a serious urge to go to the bathroom all the time, however when I go to go little to nothing happens but I notice that even though I didnt "poop" when I wipe it seems mucusy? It seems to take about 4 to 5 days before I can go just a little and in that time period the pain is severe.
Avatar n tn ve been having a lot of flatulence, and the feeling of having to use the restroom throughout the day. There is no pain involved, but as I said a lot of gas, and using the restroom many times throughout the day. In addition, I no longer urinate standing up due to the flatulence. if I start to urinate, I will also start to pass gas. relieving myself one way seems to cause relief the other way, if you understand.
Avatar n tn It can cause the colon to spasm, due to the nerves firing off pain when they shouldnt be(Kind of like a malfunction) it can cause pain due to excessive gas, or trapped gas. Gas gets traps at the bends in the colon and can cause pain. Also you have basic constipation and diarrhea that can cause pain. Pain is the most common symptom of IBS. But again, hemorrhoids, no matter how big and how internal, will not cause IBS. If big enough and the stool is soft enough, yes, it can form the stools, etc.
Avatar n tn $480 later she found nothing. her exam only determined that the colon was full and he had a lot of gas, and his stomach was tender. My feeling is he has a possible blockage in his stomach or someting that is preventing the contents to pass through and out. He is not vomiting, and is urinating, but extremely listless. However, he wants to walk outside with me, albet slowely, so it is not dire at thim moment.
