Avatar f tn What did the doctor say about why they gave them to you? Are you w/ding from opiates? or do you have high blood pressure? What milligram of clonodine did the doc give you?
Avatar n tn if you are trying to taper off prescirbed opiates, can you still take clonidine at the same time?
Avatar m tn Good day, clonidine works very well when coming off of opiates. That is what they gave me during my 8 days of detox and after 54 days I use it at night to help me rest. It really works well and I would call it a miracle drug as well. Just only use .1 and no more than that, but it all depends on what your doctor says too.
Avatar f tn Does any1 knw how long you usually have to stay on clonidine after getting off opiates? And am I still considered in detox even tho its bn twelve days?
Avatar n tn I have been tapering off opiates and I have clonidine and use it to sleep during the taper. I'm pretty sure opiates lower your blood pressure and so does clonidine, so can you take too much if you are combining them?
Avatar f tn Do you really want to quit? Do you still have pain? If you can confide in your doctor, you'll get support from him. He can prescribe Clonidine, which helps lessen the withdrawals. Read up on the Thomas recipe and get what you need. The supplements will also help the w/d symptoms. Don't worry about telling your doctor. He's heard it before. Just be honest. You'll get a lot of support here. You can do this.
Avatar n tn Trying to taper off and get off opiates, morphine and oxy. can clonidine be taken at the same time to help with not having as much of the opiates? and help with the withdrawls?
Avatar f tn hi.....i have never used clonidine but it's suppose to be for high BP and also can be used for anxiety from what i've read. I am on a diff med for high BP. Good luck and hope it works for you! i've read that it helps alot of people calm down thru WDs.
Avatar f tn There's a natural supplement called Seredyn,it helps with withdrawal from opiates and Xanax.Google it,sounds like pretty good stuff.Thought it might be helpful.God Bless all of you.I know how hard it is.
Avatar f tn Just found this group... Doc has me on clonidine .1 -- when I took this yesterday for first time, it packed a big punch, re dizziness/disorientation tho this did pass as day went on. So today thought perhaps I would cut .1 in half and take twice a day... still not much relief from my withdrawal from fr tubal, then morphine for major pain with bone issues. Is there a .01 to take? Or will taking the .1 twice a day eventually be easier on me?
Avatar m tn After a severe wreck breaking my back I was sent to a pain management doctor in 2006. Started out with no education with opiates and other meds. Started out taking them as prescribed and them moving on the other ways for the quicker high I realized I was a full blown addict. The Dr was raising/changing my meds every several months. Anyways fast forward it to May 2010. I am trying to change my life around for many reasons.
Avatar f tn I just went to my Doctor today.12-5-2012 For clonidine. For withdrawal from 32 days off tramadol and after today will be my 10th day off methadone. The pain from withdrawal did't start untill the third day Methadone time table different from all other opiates. It felt like I was hit with a ton of bricks on day 8.Very severe not one second of releif from the pain the legs the whole bit a bath or hot shower helps but it comes back soon after.Took my first dose clonidine hcl 0.
Avatar n tn Sorry wrong post- i meant to say clonidine is used in most detoxes around the country for opiates. it helps alot with the symphatic nervous system problems opiate withdrawal presents. it helps with the sweating, hot/cold flashes, blood pressure fluctuations, and insomnia.
653562 tn?1224298351 m trying to withdraw off the meds, and they still have me on tramadol, and clonidine. How long does this withdrawl process last? Anyone with any similar experience? Does this make me an addict?
6815927 tn?1395511425 I have been seeing my APRN PCP for PM for the past 8 years. My problem is I now want off of opiates. My PCP will support me but she is concerned because she saw how my quality of life improved from effective pain managment. However, although my life span is limited due to the severity of my conditions, I am concerned about the long term effect of opiates on all the body systems, especially hormone suppression. .
Avatar m tn No, do not use any opiates and set yourself back but if the clonidine is what it takes to help you get through these rough days use it. Sometimes you have to have some help to succeed. It took me 2 weeks to get over the WDs I used xanax only when I couldn't stand the WDs for the first month. I felt that black hole for months after, I've had to learn new ways to deal with everything you will too. You are doing great and have made 4 days.
Avatar m tn Neither are habit forming. Trazadone is an AD and clonidine a BP med. The clonidine has to be tapered, so ask your doc. And Congrats on 5 days!
Avatar f tn Im on Hyroxyzine, Clonidine and Baclfen. I have detoxed before off Meth but not opiates. Its a whole new ball game. I was clean for 9 years then I starting having surgeries one my foot and shoulder one right after the other for the last 4 years and been on Oxycodone the whole time. Now Im on it permanently but I want off. This is my decision I could continue as far as my doctor is concerned.

Avatar f tn I was so weak yest had to fess up and tell my doc what was goin on and he sent me there. They didnt do much bt gve me clonidine and a antibiotic. Well I have not took the cloninide today becuz I didnt really knw am I still withdrawn or does the bronchitis have me dwn. I went thru extreme physical wdrawls the first fw days bt I cnt even pull myself up 2 clean my house.
Avatar m tn With opiates, I would suggest just go cold turkey, but if clonidine helps and it has no addictive qualities, use that.
410406 tn?1209480659 I am down to three tramadal a week from 15 or so. I notice that on four and then dropping to three, I am just so very tired. The past two nights, I have been waking up with RLS in my left leg. So I got up about 2AM this morning and took a xanax. I am at work right now almost falling asleep. I can't stand it. I have clonidine. Does anyone know if I should have taken one of those and if they work for RLS?
589824 tn?1238796813 Long term use of Clonidine should be tapered. BUT it does not cause the same type of W/D as opiates. If you suddenly stop Clonidine, you can suffer what is called "rebound hypertension" In otherwards, your blood pressure will go up. So it is not a huge deal unless you have underlying cardiac issues or existing high BP.
Avatar f tn Just in case you are curious, it takes us three to four days to detox a patient and get him/her back home drug free and feeling well on Naltrexone therapy (no opiates). Please explore this option with your parents' help. I know we help many people get clean and stay clean, At home, the basic technique is to take less and less every day by cutting down by about half a pill every one or two days until you are down to nothing.
Avatar n tn all took requip for restless legs Valium for anxiety and clonidine for blood pressure and morphine for pain 30mg god help all of us and god touch our minds
Avatar n tn Any benzo w/d should be supervised by a doctor for the very reason you stated....seizures. Clonidine is actually a blood pressure medication and if you are taking it, make sure you are monitoring you blood pressure regularly. I didn't w/d off benzos. My doc was opiates. but, clonidine worked well for my anxiety, restlessness, and heart palpitations when I was detoxing. I took 0.1mg every 8-12 hours (depending on severity of my symptoms). I only needed it the first 3 days.
