WIkipedia says clonidine is good for reducing sweats and general "unease", but the patient must withdraw carefully from it too, in order to avoid rebound hypertension. Has anyone had experience with this? Did you experience the rebound hypertension after using clonidine? I'm considering asking my doctor for this drug because I'm still experiencing w/d symptoms after 2 weeks w/d. I've not slept for four days, too. Thanks for your help.
Hey eveyone. I was recently put on Clonidine to help with anxiety and I am currently on Effexor. Does anyone have any past experiences with Clonidine? Does it work? Do I have to build it up in my system? Thanks C.
Monitor heart rate in patients receiving concomitant verapamil and clonidine. As clonidine(Central action) and verapamil act on alpha adrenergic system lowering blood pressure simultaneously causes severe complications.mentioned above. So Angiotensin Receptor blockers like Candesartan with Beta blocks and Diuretics like Spironolactone (.vasodilators, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, diuretics, beta-blockers) could help you.

He is on Tenex and Clonidine now and it is doing nothing!!! I've told them numerous times that the only difference is that he is waking up every night having nightmares and refuses to sleep in his room. I can't even get him to go to the bathroom by himself now. He started off on Risperdal, that seemed like it helped for a while then something was to high on his bloodwork so he got taken off it.He also had Clonidine at night with it.

Normally it is just nightmares but last night he flipped out and was seeing invisible robots that were attacking him and monsters on the doorway he was crying and really scared i had to hold his eyes with my hands and held him the rest of the night...Does anyone know what I can do to help him. The dr put him on intuniv and now clonidine (which he is on this now only for about 2 weeks) IT was supposed to help for the nightmares.
I was treated with upwards of 150mg of Oxycodone (controlled release and immediate release)after multiple surgeries, all while on Clonazepam 3mg daily (ten years) and Clonidine Patch for blood pressure. For about a year, I am down to maximum of 30mg Oxycodone a day but escalated my Clonazepam in the last six (up to 10mg day, occassionally), have had episodic alcohol relapses (last one three days ago 400mg Vodka). Started Disulfuram today.

I do get many more dreams that I remember. No nightmares, though. You may be taking more than you need to sleep. Although it is safe to take up to 10mg. The normal dose is 1-3mg or even less. Only take as much as needed to get to sleep. I take about 11/2 mg.

The doctors perscribed her with clonidine it is a sleep medicine for children who can not turn off there brains and relax. I really hope this gets to you and you look into it. She has now been on it for almost a year and I thank the doctors all the time. She gets it an hour before bed, a bath 10 minutes after the meds, because sometimes it works really fast within 15 minutes and if she isnt comfortable before she falls asleep she is really moody and always crying, until she passes out.
I didn't see any other posts about stopping the two simultaneously and I'm wondering if other people have experienced the same symptoms - the pins and needles/zaps are getting worse and have gone from just my left foot and leg to my whole head and most of my body, the nightmares and night sweats are unpleasant, and doing anything requiring gross motor skills and visual acuity is kind of hard (I discovered when trying to drive my car today), and it seems that now I'm having issues with typing (h
Since I hit 40 two days ago I have been having trouble sleeping along with nightmares. Tonight I have a headache, chills, my legs ache down to the bone, GI problems and I am getting waves of anxiety. I know these are mild. I can only imagine what full blown WD is like. I think it would break the toughest Jihadi. Man does this suck.
iv been on them for over 8 years straight both types and can not sleep at night.. and when I do - I get instant nightmares and vivid dreams or stress like dreams , that cause my blood pressure to rise super high ! thus I wake up with soreing b.p readings and also get a internal like jittering or shakeing like feeling up and down my body when laying down / this has never happend before to me on any drug ! but im reading, that the no sleep can happen as a long term side effect..
Then I came home and entered a dissociative state, took a nap and had dissociative nightmares and woke up with myoclonic spams in a dissociative state saying "where am I?". My affect (mood) has been relatively stable. I certainly wasn't psychotic as the neighborhood I entered was a crowded area and had a lot of teenagers acting a bit rowdy which would have made me paranoid before my recovery with glycine. I would have felt "threatened". I didn't.
Clonidine comes under the brand names of Catapres, Catapers-TTS, Dixarit, and Duraclon. Clonidine is the name of the drug itself (generic). It is classified as a non-opiod analgesic (centrally-acting), Antihypertensive agent (centrally acting adrenergic). It can be given by mouth, by patch, or even epidural.
It was weird, like all I wanted to do was sleep. It might have something to do with the clonidine patch. I am glad though because I slept through a lot of the worst w/d.
Sleep study also showed no REM sleep. I take paxil for anxiety, wellbutrin for mood and energy, and clonidine. Sleep doc wants me off paxil b/c of its effect on REM sleep. Could I take trazodone for anxiety with the wellbutrin? Or something else for anxiety that doesn't affect rem sleep?
I have been on verapamil at 120mg daily for about 8 years now , about 5months ago I started getting nightmares and waking up with spikes in b.p (high readings) when I sat upright for a few mins ,the b.p dropped rapid to normal levels- I also had internal like tremors in my legs and back kind of vibration like feelings when this happens but sitting up right awake stopped them in seconds to mins.

roserem doesn't work for me. trazadone gives me nightmares. I just looked up dt's and i don't think that is at all what was wrong with me. I didn't have any of those symtoms except anxiety. But, i do feel better so guess it was worth the time spent. thanks.
it helped with my addiction and worked very well for pain. BUT sub is not for everyone and you need to read the sub stories on here some are nightmares w/ds are horrible from sub and they dont want to let go. But this can be an option, but think long and hard and do your own research also research any sub Dr you may want to see, its very costly without insureance. Suboxone helped me untill I was laid off and had to go c/t.
for 3 days strait. Now i want to go off and work with a differrnt mef.
